a bit; a little ; a little bit

1) a bit和a little在肯定句中修饰动词、形容词、副词和比较级时可以互换，表示

The speakerspoke up a bit/a little so as to make himself heard more clearly. 演讲者把嗓门提高了一点儿，以便使别人听得更清楚。

2) a bit和a little在否定句中的意思恰恰相反,not a bit相当于"not at all"( 一点儿都不)；not a little 相当于"very(much)"或"extremely"(很、非常)。例如:

She is not a bit tired . (=She is not tired at all.)她一点都不累。

3) a little可以直接作定语修饰名词，而a bit则要在后面加of构成短语才能作定语，两者都只能修饰不可数名词。例如：

There is a little/a bit of food left for lunch.

午饭只能吃剩下的一点食品了。

4) a bit of的另一种形式是bits of, a little则没有这种变体。例如：

Besides this, he used part of an old army wireless set, an dome bits of wood.除此之外,他还利用了一部分旧的军用无线电发报机的一部分零件和一些木片。

5) 1)a little=a bit=a little bit + 形容词；2)a little=a bit of + 名词

二、a little / a bit / a little bit / for a bit 用法辨析

1) 在肯定句中,a little和a bit意思相同：

This box is a bit heavier tha n the other one.

=a little heavier than the other one.这两句的意思都是：这个箱子比那个箱子重一点。

再比如价格会上涨一点。”

可以说：The price would jump a bit.

也可以说：The price would jump a little.

还有点工作要做。”

可以说：There is still a bit more work to do. 也可以说：There is still a little more work to do.

1) not a bit 和not a little 的意思正好相反。not a bit 是“一点也不”，等于not at all; not a little/ few 的意思是不是一点点”，和very much ；extremely 意思相同：

I ' m not a bit tired. (I ' airanot 我一点也不累。

I ' m not a little tired. (I ' nm)m很累了red.()不是一点点累，是很累)

2) a bit 通常修饰表示“令人不快”的形容词，例如sad, silly, cold, hungry, angry, difficult, heavy, expensive 等；a little 则无论褒贬都可以修饰：The song is a bit sad. 这首歌有点伤感。

You might say I ' m a bit silly你可能会说我有点傻。

Mary is a little older but a little more beautiful than Ann. 玛丽比安年纪更大但是更漂亮。

Every one seemed a little n ervous.每个人看起来都有点紧张。

3) a bit后面不能直接接名词，接名词要用a bit of的结构；a little则可以直接修饰名词：当 a little 修饰的名词前有the, this, that, 所有格等限定词时，也要用 a little of 的结构：

This will add a little fun to the game.如果要用a bit 来修饰fun，要用a bit of 的结构：

This will add a bit of fun to the game. 这可以使这个游戏更有趣一点。

This remind me a little of those old sayings. 这使我想起了那些古老的谚语。

4) a bit和a little不能用来修饰形容词+名词”的结构。例如，heavy boxes这样的结构，就不能用 a bit和a little修饰，不能说a bit heavy boxes；再比如hot weather,我们不可以说a little hot weather.

a little bit的意思是一点点”，用法与” a bi相同:

This is a little bit too difficult for me. 这对我来说有点难。

Jack is a little bit selfish. 杰克有点自私。

I speak a little bit of French. 我讲一点法语。

5) for a bit 和for a little 意思相同，相当于for a while 或for a short time ，可互换。

We talkedfor a bit. (We talked for a short time.) 我们谈了一会儿。
