2015年6月大学英语六级真题试卷(二)(题后含答案及解析)题型有:1. Writing 2. Listening Comprehension 3. 4. Reading Comprehension 5. TranslationPart I Writing1.For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay commenting on Albert Einstein’s remark “I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious. “ You can give an example or two to illustrate your point of view. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.正确答案:Curiosity Leads to Success “I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious. “Albert Einstein once said, Simple as the remark may sound, it aims at informing us of the significance of curiosity. Doing everything curiously is conducive to our growth and eventually leads us to success. For one thing, curiosity serves as the premise of creativity, which can be seen as the key to success. Only when one is curious about something will he put his mind on it and generate something creative. Take Edison for example, it was his curiosity that made him invent so many things and achieved great success in his career. For another, curiosity provides us with the drive to go forward. During the process of being curious to something, we can maintain freshness instead of boredom, which will inspire us to learn new knowledge. Last but not least, curiosity helps us resolve difficulties constantly. A person with curiosity is more likely to dig into the essence of the problem and overcome all kinds of difficulties. From what has been discussed above, I would like to end up with the famous educator Herbert Spencer’s words which I can’t agree more, “If the interest and enthusiasm among us are cultivated smoothly in the first place, most people will become talents or geniuses. “Part II Listening ComprehensionSection A听力原文:W: A clever man hides his virtues within himself. This is nearly 16 times the number of business graduates in 1960, a testimony to the wide spread assumption that the MBA is vital for young men and women who want to run companies some day.“If you are going into the corporate world it is still a disadvantage not to have one,”said Donald Morrison, professor of marketing and management science. “But in the last five years or so, when someone says, ‘Should I attempt to get an MBA,’ the answer a lot more is: It depends.”The success of Bill Gates and other non-MBAs, such as the late Sam Walton of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., has helped inspire self-conscious debates on business school campuses over the worth of a business degree and whether management skills can be taught. The Harvard Business Review printed a lively, fictional exchange of letters to dramatize complaints about business degree holders. The article called MBA hires “extremely disappointing” and said “MBAs want to move up too fast, they don’t understand politics and people, and they aren’t able to function as part of a team until their third year. But by then, they’re out looking for other jobs.”The problem, most participants in the debate acknowledge, is that the MBA has acquired an aura (光环) of future riches and power far beyond its actual importance and usefulness.Enrollment in business schools exploded in the 1970s and 1980s and created the assumption that no one who pursued a business career could do without one. The growth was fueled by a backlash (反冲) against the anti-business values of the 1960s and by the women’s movement.Business people who have hired or worked with MBAs say those with the degrees of ten know how to analyze systems but are not so skillful at motivating people. “They don’t get a lot of grounding in the people side of the business”, said James Shaffer, vice-president and principal of the Towers Perrin management consulting firm.21. According to Paragraph 2, what is the general attitude towards businesson campuses dominated by purer disciplines?A) Scornful.B) Appreciative.C) Envious.D) Realistic.22. It seems that the controversy over the value of MBA degrees had beenfueled mainly by ________.A) the complaints from various employersB) the success of many non-MBAsC) the criticism from the scientists of purer disciplinesD) the poor performance of MBAs at work23. What is the major weakness of MBA holders according to the HarvardBusiness Review?A) They are usually self-centered.B) They are aggressive and greedy.C) They keep complaining about their jobs.D) They are not good at dealing with people.24. From the passage we know that most MBAs ________.A) can climb the corporate ladder fairly quicklyB) quit their jobs once they are familiar with their workmatesC) receive salaries that do not match their professional trainingD) cherish unrealistic expectations about their future25. What is the passage mainly about?A) Why there is an increased enrollment in MBA programs.B) The necessity of reforming MBA programs in business schools.C) Doubts about the worth of holding an MBA degree.D) A debate held recently on university campuses.Passage TwoQuestions 26 to 30 are based on the following passage. When school officials in Kalkaska, Michigan, closed classes last week, the media flocked to the story, portraying the town’s 2,305 students as victims of stingy (吝啬的) taxpayers. There is some truth to that; the property-tax rate here is one-third lower than the state average. But shutting their schools also allowed Kalkask’s educators and the state’s largest teachers’ union, the Michigan Education Association, to make a political point. Their aim was to spur passage of legislation Michigan lawmakers are debating to increase the state’s share of school funding. It was no coincidence that Kalkaska shut its schools two weeks after residents rejected a 28 percent property-tax increase. The school board argued that without the increase it lacked the $1.5 million needed to keep schools open. But the school system had not done all it could to keep the schools open. Officials declined to borrow against next year’s state aid, they refused to trim extra curricular activities and they did not consider seeking a smaller—perhaps more acceptable—tax increase. In fact, closing early is costing Kalkaska a significant amount, including $600,000 in unemployment payments to teachers and staff and $250,000 in lost state aid. In February, the school system promised teachers and staff two months of retirement payments in case schools closed early, a deal that will cost the district $275,000 more.Other signs suggest school authorities were at least as eager to make a political statement as to keep schools open. The Michigan Education Association hired a public relations firm to stage a rally marking the school closing, which attracted 14 local and national television stations and networks. The president of the National Education Association, the MEA’s parent organization, flew from Washington, D. C., for the event. And the union tutored school officials in the art of television interviews. School supervisor Doyle Disbrow acknowledges the district could have kept schools open by cutting programs but denies the moves were politically motivated.Michigan lawmakers have reacted angrily to the closings. The state Senate has al ready voted to put the system into receivership (破产管理) and reopen schools immediately; the Michigan House plans to consider the bill this week.26. We learn from the passage that schools in Kalkaska, Michigan, are funded________.A) by both the local and state governmentsB) exclusively by the local governmentC) mainly by the state governmentD) by the National Education Association27. One of the purposes for which school officials closed classes was________.A) to avoid paying retirement benefits to teachers and staffB) to draw the attention of local taxpayers to political issuesC) to make the financial difficulties of their teachers and staff knownto the publicD) to pressure Michigan lawmakers into increasing state funds for localschools28. The author seems to disapprove of ________.A) the Michigan lawmakers’ endless debatingB) the shutting of schools in KalkaskaC) the involvement of the mass mediaD) delaying the passage of the school funding legislation29. We learn from the passage that school authorities in Kalkaska areconcerned about ________.A) a raise in the property-tax rate in MichiganB) reopening the schools there immediatelyC) the attitude of the MEA’s parent organizationD) making a political issue of the closing of the schools30. According to the passage, the closing of the schools developed into acrisis because of ________.A) the complexity of the problemB) the political motives on the part of the educatorsC) the weak response of the state officialsD) the strong protest on the part of the students’ parentsPassage ThreeQuestions 31 to 35 are based on the following passage.German Chancellor (首相) Otto Von Bismarck may be most famous for his military and diplomatic talent, but his legacy (遗产) includes many of today’s social insurance programs. During the middle of the 19th century, Germany, along with other European nations, experienced an unprecedented rash of workplace deaths and accidents as a result of growing industrialization. Motivated in part by Christian compassion (怜悯) for the helpless as well as a practical political impulse to undercut the support of the socialist labor movement, Chancellor Bismarck created the world’s first workers’compensation law in 1884.By 1908, the United States was the only industrial nation in the world that lacked workers’ compensation insurance. America’s injured workers could sue for damages in a court of law, but they still faced a number of tough legal barriers. For example, employees had to prove that their injuries directly resulted from employer negligence and that they themselves were ignorant about potential hazards in the workplace. The first state workers’compensation law in this country passed in 1911, and the program soon spreadthroughout the nation. After World War II, benefit payments to American workers did not keep up with the cost of living. In fact, real benefit levels were lower in the 1970s than they were in the 1940s, and in most states the maximum benefit was below the poverty level for a family of four. In 1970, President Richard Nixon set up a national commission to study the problems of workers’compensation. Two years later, the commission issued 19 key recommendations, including one that called for increasing compensation benefit levels to 100 percent of the states’ average weekly wages. In fact, the average compensation benefit in America has climbed from 55 percent of the states’ average weekly wages in 1972 to 97 percent today. But, as most studies show, every 10 percent increase in compensation benefits results in a 5 per cent increase in the numbers of workers who file for claims. And with so much more money floating in the workers’ compensation system, it’s not surprising that doctors and lawyers have helped themselves to a large slice of the growing pie.31. The world’s first workers’ compensation law was introduced by Bismarck________.A) to make industrial production saferB) to speed up the pace of industrializationC) out of religious and political considerationsD) for fear of losing the support of the socialist labor movement32. We learn from the passage that the process of industrialization in Europe________.A) was accompanied by an increased number of workshop accidentsB) resulted in the development of popular social insurance programsC) required workers to be aware of the potential dangers at the workplaceD) met growing resistance from laborers working at machines33. One of the problems the American injured workers faced in gettingcompensation in the early 19th century was that ________.A) they had to have the courage to sue for damages in a court of lawB) different states in the U.S. had totally different compensationprogramsC) America’s average compensation benefit was much lower than the costof livingD) they had to produce evidence that their employers were responsiblefor the accident34. After 1972 workers’ compensation insurance in the U.S. became morefavorable to workers so that ________.A) the poverty level for a family of four went up drasticallyB) there were fewer legal barriers when they filed for claimsC) the number of workers suing for damages increasedD) more money was allocated to their compensation system35. The author ends the passage with the implication that ________.A) compensation benefits in America are soaring to new heightsB) the workers are not the only ones to benefit from the compensationsystemC) people from all walks of life can benefit from the compensation systemD) money floating in the compensation system is a huge drain on the U.S.economyPassage FourQuestions 36 to 40 are based on the following passage.Early in the age of affluence (富裕) that followed World War II, an American retailing analyst named Victor Lebow proclaimed, “Our enormously productive economy... We need things consumed, burned up, worn out, replaced and discarded at an ever increasing rate.”Americans have responded to Lebow’s call, and much of the world has followed.Consumption has become a central pillar of life in industrial lands and is even embedded in social values. Opinion surveys in the world’s two largest economies—Japan and the United States—show consumerist definitions of success becoming ever prevalent.Overconsumption by the world’s fortunate is an environmental problem unmatched in severity by anything but perhaps population growth. Their surging exploitation of resources threatens to exhaust or unalterably spoil forests, soils, water, air and climate.Ironically, high consumption may be a mixed blessing in human terms, too. The time-honored values of integrity of character, good work, friendship, family and community have often been sacrificed in the rush to riches. Thus many in the industrial lands have a sense that their world of plenty is somehow hollow—that, misled by a consumerist culture, they have been fruitlessly attempting to satisfy what are essentially social, psychological and spiritual needs with material things.Of course, the opposite of over-consumption—poverty—is no solutionto either environmental or human problems. It is infinitely worse for people and bad for the natural world too. Dispossessed (被剥夺得一无所有的) peasants slash-and-burn their way into the rain forests of Latin America, and hungry nomads (游牧民族) turn their herds out onto fragile African grassland, reducing it to desert. If environmental destruction results when people have either too little or too much, we are left to wonder how much is enough. What level of consumption can the earth support? When does having more cease to add noticeably to human satisfaction?36. The emergence of the affluent society after World War II ________.A) gave birth to a new generation of upper class consumersB) gave rise to the dominance of the new egoismC) led to the reform of the retailing systemD) resulted in the worship of consumerism37. But at KIND Healthy Snacks they do things differently.Founder and CEO Daniel Lubetzky asks employees, whom he calls “team members,” for at least two months, and in some cases two years’ notice. In return, Lubetzky focuses on their professional growth until the day they leave. It may sound extreme, unrealistic even, to ask for two months’ notice —or two years’notice from those who work with him directly—but his reasoning makes perfect sense.“We call the KIND team a ‘family’, so major life transitions (转变) like changing jobs aren’t meant to be kept in secret until the last minute,” Lubetzky tells Business Insider. “No one should be scared to talk about what’s next for them.”“I would rather a team member come to me months in advance, letting me know what will be happening in their life,” he says, “whether it is a baby on the way, a relocation for personal reasons, or a plan to go back to school.”Lubetzky doesn’t expect his employees to accept a job elsewhere and ask the new employer to delay their start date by two months or two years. He simply wants anyone who is exploring new opportunities to be open about it.36. How long in advance does Lubetzky ask his employees to give their job-quittingnotice?A) Two weeks.B) One month.C) At least two months.D) More than two years.37. What does the underlined phrase “a baby on the way” mean?A) A baby is going to be born.B) A baby is growing healthily.C) A baby is going to be adopted.D) A new-born baby is coming home.40. What is the actual purpose of Lubetzly’s requirement of job quitting?A) The employees should be loyal to the company.B) The employees should be open about their leaving.C) The employees may get enough time to search for a new job.D) The employees may save enough money to support their family.Task 2Directions: The task is the same as Task 1. 2015年6月英语六级阅读理解预测题及答案(1)

According to the latest research in the' United States of America, men and women talk such different languages that it is like people from two different cultures trying to communicate. Professor Deborah Tannen of Georgetown University, has noticed the difference in the style of boy's and girl's conversations from an early age. She says that little girls' conversation is less definite than boys' and expresses more doubts. Little boys use conversation to establish status with their listeners. These differences continue into adult life, she says. In public conversations, men talk most and interrupt other speakers more. In private conversations, men and women speak in equal amounts!although they say things in a different style. Professor Tannen believes that, for woman, private talking is a way to establish and test intimacy. For men, private talking is a way to explore the power structure of a relationship.Teaching is one job where the differences between men's and women's ways of talking show. When a man teaches a woman, says Professor Tannen, he wants to show that he has more knowledge, and hence more power in conversation. When a woman teaches another woman, however, she is more likely to take a sharing approach and to encourage her student to join in. But Professor Tannen does not believe that women are naturally more helpful. She says women feel they achieve power by being able to help others. Although the research suggests men talk and interrupt people more than women, Professor Tannen says, women actually encourage this to happen because they believe it will lead to more intimacy and help to establish a relationship. Some scientists who are studying speech think that the brain is pre?programmed for language. As we are usually taught to speak by women, it seems likely that the brain must have a sexual bias(買・來) in its programming, otherwise male speech patterns would not arise at all.1. 雅思2015最新口语题目及答案

雅思2015最新口语题目及答案

Time tensesSubjunctive moodExclusive vocabularyAdverbJoining wordsBe profoundWeatherDo you prefer rainy day or sunny day? HumidityPrecipitationPersonally speaking, I prefer the day with rains, it doesn’t matter what kind of rain is, (sprinkle/drizzle, moderate rain, shower, pouring) as long as itrains, I believe that it will change the condition of the weather in my city, it will bring up the humidity or precipitation, not only that, but also the quality of weather can be totally different if the rain lasts few days. Geographically the allocation of the precipitation in China between south and north are not likely the same, admittedly south is more humid than north, usually the south has more time and frequency of rains particularly sprinkles than northLivingWhat kind of place are you living at the moment?after I had spent nearly 15years living in a bungalow, we moved into a new apartment and it is about almost 10 years now that my family has lived hereThe one I am living in now is a 3bedroom apartment which is like a typical Chinese apartment most of Chinese are living in, the place is quite decent with reasonable size and structure.Which room do you like the most? Comparing to any other rooms at myhome, what makes me want to stay the most and the longest is living room, not only does living room come up with the most luxury decoration and hardware of family entertainment, but also what I see the most is that the living room is supposed to be where the entire family gather up This is why other rooms are with the concept of “simplicity”but living room is more “harmonic”Do you prefer city or countryside? If I could have my holiday, if my holiday was long enough, I would probably choose to stay in countrysidefor several days, down there they’ve got better air, water, food and landscape, thus I say the ecological environment in countryside is more precious than what they are in cities. It is not only me but a lot others choose to stay in cities since the city has better developed infrastructure which respectively are medication, education, occupation and consumption, opportunities here in cities become more important than everything else.ShoeDo you prefer comfortable shoes orIn my perspective, comfortable shoes is undoubtedly the first choice of mine, this is what I believe, a lot of manufactures in these days have enriched their product categories and it become diversified, however many of them only put fashion elements and personal appearance of shoes as their priority that they kind of ignored one thing which comes the most important which is physical feeling, therefore, the pair of shoe I felt regret buying really killed me and my toes that since then I’d rather to buyBoots, high heelSneakersHave you bought shoes from the internet? To be frankly, I have bought a lot of items from the internet but shoes, as well as pants, glasses or rings, apparently those items require the accurate measurement that I don’t feel risking my money and time to pay for something that is not thoroughly suitable, instead if wanted to buy a pair of shoes, I’d rather to personally try them on in a shop.ThumbnailDue to the optical illusion we might have between the thumbnail and real stuff, buying something from the internet can be a bit of dicey. HandwritingDo you prefer to type or handwrite? Off the top of my head, typing is what I personally preferred as well as many others out there who have become sophisticated about operating new technologies, when typing has become one of the most effective and convenient solutions in e-communications, there’s no excusefor me not to use it.Do you think handwriting is going to disappear?I strongly doubt it. Handwriting is the foundation of local culture and the significant root of civilization, especially in China, handwriting is evidently categorized as part of art, which is called “calligraphy”, forgetting handwriting is like forgetting your language, therefore we now have “Chinese spelling bee”competition to enhance the importance of handwriting.Street marketWhat is the difference between street market and shops?GiftIs it easy to pick up gift for others in these days?kiwileicampinghave you camped?I wish had, matter of fact, as far as I know there are two kinds of camping out there, one is called camping, and other one is called “glamping”whichis from the combination of the words “glamorous camping”. Let me be honest with you, personally I’d rather to go glamping if I could have the opportunity where everything is thoroughly provided, such as cozy bed, giant TV, nice shower….not only does glamping bring us a pleasant time but also we get to do something against the wild which in this case is the point. Is it popular in China? It wasn’t popular at all before since people had spent most of time struggling to maintain their lowstandard of live, now it is getting a lot better than before that people have earned more money with extra that we want to do something else, therefore, in my personal prediction, this kind of activity will definitely be popular that people will become fascinated about it because we have started thinking about the importance of mental health.GiftHave you given or received any gift? So far the best gift I have ever received is a collective basketball, which all over this ball is with dozensof autograph of famous basketball players. To me, the actual value of the gift itself is way more than what it worth that is priceless and precious. As a thank you, I reciprocated …….to my friend as well. One day in a weekWhich day in a week is your favorite day?To me, Saturday is definitely my favorite day, or to say at least one of the two favorite days over the weekend, because this is what believe, I believe that from Monday to Friday due to the pressure I have to strugglewith, I actually belong to my school/work, I can never belong to myself unless it is Saturday the weekend day when I eventually have no strings attached. If it’s possible, which day would you like to change?I’d like to change either Friday or Monday, and matter of fact they don’t make much differences since being with both Saturday and Sunday, it will be a long holiday three days in a roll anyway, although 3days sounds not that different to 2days, it seriously makes enormous changes that what3days is capable of is huge.MapDo you use map a lot? What kind? Electronic map has become part of my life as an essential tool to direct me, what benefits me the most by using such device is respectively the functions and features of self-positioning system, instantaneous road status, interactive intelligent communication system and the personalized requirement to the perimeter area.Road illiterateLanguageWhat is the language you want to learn besides English? That would be Korean, since the culture invasion of Korean has enormously affected nearly every aspect of our lives here in China, respectively are the Korean cuisine, movie, music, entertainment, vehicle and electronic products, the access to use this language in China and Korea is wider than any other languages. Any solution to learn English? One of the most effective solutions of learning not just English but any otherlanguages is by carrying a solid mind and consistent stamina to one or two TV programs, particularly to keep watching the same thing over and over again until you become sophisticated.MusicJazz hip popR and B rhythm bluesThere are variety of beats that the music delivers different emotion to people to feel, simple instruments such as majorly guitar and piano make the music itself not much complicatedto follow, plus the lyrics the song is along with, which has a lot of resonance to what most of people think aboutInterlude musicA cappellaDictionaryDictionary is the typical standard to explain meaning of certain words and to rectify mistakes that it is a measurement in linguistic area. DefinitionPhonetic pronunciationExamples7diopters3.25diopters 屈光度=100度Beyond 超越,之上I believe that there’s something important beyond the …….itself, which is all about…….Is it important asking children to learn musical instruments?Absolutely, I will send my children to learn musical instrument just like others parents, however, the difference is that I don’t want to bring my children with any pressure or to set up a goal, because I believe thatthere’s something important beyond the musical instrument itself, which is all about the cultivation of personal interest, intelligence, patience and better appreciation to their own lives, and that, matters everything. If you had children, would you ask them to do housework?Certainly I would, I would ask my children to make some housework, washing dishes, mopping floor, doing laundry, no matter what the job is, aslong as I find something for them, it is always good for them, because I believe that there’s something important beyond the housework itself, which is all about training them with better responsibility, handling ability, obligation and better understanding of what a family member is to themWhy do people like to keep photos after they had taken some?As far as I know, many people including me like to take photos and have them either printed out into a photo album or converted intocomputer, no matter what happens, I don’t delete those photos from computer or to throw the photo album away, because I believe that there’s something important beyond the photos themselves, which is all about the unforgettable memory and the precious old time that I can never ever have again. Is it necessary to give friends gifts sometimes?Certainly, it is doubtless to give gifts between friends, regardless of what the gift is and the frequency of giving gift is, even a little something whichdoesn’t cost us much, it is still the solution to maintain friendship, because I believe that there’s something important beyond the gift itself, which is all about the way of showing our relationship, closeness, special bond and the way to tell my friend how much I care about you.Why does a city need museums/libraries?Why do parents need to read children stories with childhood characters? What do you think of cell phone in these days comparing with the onesbefore? What is university to you?Part 2 topic descriptionA time when you had shared somethingA good law in your countryDescribe a person you wanted to be similar to when you were a teenager 引入People always have dreams about becoming someone or to be similar to someone, especially in childhood, kids like to look upsomeone who can be a hero, a warrior, a successful person, a superstar or a family member. Those big idols children always want to be can be real or fictionalFor example……..Chasing after a fictional character which is not real might sound silly to a lot of people, however, I don’t think so that even if I had children, if they told me that the person who they want to become is fictional, I would support their ideas, simply because those ideas and characters are the symbol of justice, fair and stayingpositively a good person, they give us motivation, inspiration and courage.A good habit of your friend that you want to learn引入Ok, this is what I believe, I believe that everyone has some good things and bad things, good things mean their strong suit, something people are good at, bad things are like flaws, bad habits, so am I, the interesting thing is how can be improve our problems when we keep those good things, from school, book, teacher, family, or from someone whois effective to show us as a good example, a friend升华therefore, I am saying that the definition of friend isn’t superficially explained as someone who has food, drink, movie with you, who is also an important role of our lives as a mirror to reflect our problem, in comparison between me and friends, I know what my problem is and how to fix it, and this is the meaning of friend, which is also the same way to explain how important we are to become a mirror to our friends who can also be betterby learning from us.Describe a place you stayed far away from home引入Throughout the many times I had spent somewhere out there, either to travel or to study, they all meant differently to me, beside the occasions I had spent with my family by enjoying the landscape and pleasant moments, the one time I had travelled far away from my home and stayed the longest without family is “shanghai”升华After all, I want to say “thank you” to this very experience that has so far taught me a lot, and made me a grownup who has also become totally different to what I was before, besides, I have truly comprehended the feeling and importance of family to me, it is like a cage where I tried so hard to break out from, but now a place where I badly want to go back to.A situation you experienced in a long time traffic jam引入Ok, this may sound a bit of ridiculers that for those who hadnever been to Beijing and personally experienced what the traffic status is like here are not qualified to talk about traffic jam, because when you are really here, see it, listen to it, try it and feel it makes you a tough person not just mentally even physically.升华the traffic congestion is directly affecting the efficiency of people’s work, study and lives, that once we talk about how much happiness do people carry in their lives, traffic congestion is one of the major elements of consideration and concerns, only the government putthis issue with priority to figure out, they can then to continue their other plans of industry, internet and technology.。
