Definitions:
Undue influence: unjustified or unwarranted pressure exerted on a laboratory employee or employees in an attempt to affect the quality or integrity of their work. Undue influence is typically, but not always, motivated by financial or other commercial interests and can be exerted by people and/or entities internal or external to the company. 不总是典型地,对于公司内部或者公司外部,出于财务 上的或者其他商业利益为目的,对于实验室雇员,或者 雇员,为了影响其工作质量或者影响其诚信所采取的不 正确,或者未获承认无理由的压力,

Reporting undue influence to CPSC via the Mattel Ethics Hotline
To report undue influence to the CPSC by calling the Ethics Hotline, call the appropriate Hotline number (see below) and request that the matter be reported to the CPSC. -- The Ethics Hotline offers local telephone numbers and native speaking operators. -- The caller can remain anonymous if he/she so chooses. -- Callers to the Mattel Ethics hotline speak to a representative from Global Compliance Services, an independent company. -- Global Compliance Services will take a report and transmit that report to the Mattel Ethics Committee, which includes the Mattel General Counsel. -- The Mattel Ethics Committee will immediately notify the CPSC of any allegations of undue influence. -- The Worldwide Ethics Hotline phone numbers are listed in the attached PDF file. These numbers can also be found on the Mattel Intranet.

Scenario 1 from GLOP 7412
• A laboratory technician is conducting a pull test. The sample fails at 20.5 lbs, with a requirement of 21 lbs. When informed of the failure, the production manager gives a second sample to the technician to test. The second sample passes with a force of 25 lbs. The production manager attempts to convince the technician to not report the first test. Is this undue influence?

• Question 1: What are examples of undue influence?
• Answer: • Example 1 • Any employee, whether corporate or at the manufacturing facility, asks a laboratory employee to not report a failing test result because the failure will cause the plant to miss a production start date target or other shipping schedule milestone.

• Example 2 • The laboratory, during a routine product audit, finds that a product fails a requirement and alerts a production manager. The production manager says that he/she will correct the problem immediately, but that the audit should be aborted and not reported because they have already made several shipments of the product.
• Example 3 • A 3rd party laboratory justifiably fails a Mattel product. A Mattel employee calls the laboratory to discuss the failure. During the conversation, the Mattel employee states that if the laboratory continues to fail Mattel products, it may not receive as much business from Mattel in the future.
