The presentations will use the concepts of classification and division to explain the subject you have chosen.
CLASSIFICATION & DIVISION TASK:
Next week – your group will present your PowerPoint – total of 5 minutes! At least 2 people from your group should speak (you can have more people speak).
CLASSIFICATION = Groups like items into larger and larger logical categories. DIVISION = Divides separate items into categories.



Difficult subjects are easier to understand when broken down into smaller groups

Example: Automobiles – what are the different ways they could be classified?
CLASSIFICATION:

GUIDELINES FOR USING CLASSIFICATION: (page 75) The principle of classification: ~must be appropriate. ~must be consistent. ~ The subgroups must be complete without leaving out any major subgroups.

In writing, Classification more commonly refers to grouping like things together into logical categories and then discussing the categories.
~ Avoid including too many diverse elements. ~ Avoid being to simplistic.

You will get into group of 5-8 students. Each group will prepare a 5 minute PowerPoint presentation on any subject related to IT, software engineering, digital design, etc., or another subject of your choice.

You must send me your PowerPoint file NO LATER than the day before our next class. QUESTIONS?
