用Yes回答,后面就不能再用not,用No回答,后面就必须有not,这种情况与中文的表达习惯很不一样。

地壳变化时海水退去,石灰岩逐渐露出海面。
石灰岩历经几百万年的风雨侵蚀,形成了现在的地貌,即高耸的山峰和复杂的岩洞。
2000年前,桂林以其重要的战略位置而成为一座重镇。
秦始皇下令开凿了一条连接湘江和漓江的运河---灵渠。

Tian'anmen Square is one of the largest city squares in the world. It lies in the heart of Beijing. Tian'anmen was built in 1417 and was the entrance gate to the Forbidden City. Now the squarestretches(延伸)880 meters from north to south and 500 meters from east to west. The total area is 440,000 square meters. That's about the size of 60 soccer fields, spacious enough to accommodate half a million people. The Forbidden City (紫禁城) is the Chinese imperial(帝国的)palace from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty and it ‟s also the world's biggest palace. It lies in the middle of Beijing, China, and now houses the Palace Museum. For almost five centuries, it served as the home of the Emperor and his household(家人), as well as the ceremonial(仪式的)and political(政治的)centre of Chinese government.The Great wall In the north of China, there lies a 6,700-kilometer-long (4,161-mile-long) ancient wall. 它还可以用做动词,意思是“感到惊奇;想知道”。

2.leave…for…离开……到/去……, for后面接目的地。

Activity Four Learn the sentences1.Unless you have a map, you will get lost easily in it.除非你有地图,否则你会很容易迷路的。
unless意思是“除非”,相当于if…not…。
这句话相当于You will get lost easily in it if you do not have a map.如:You will fail in the exams you work hard.=You will fail in the exams if you work hard. 除非你用功,否则你不会通过考试。
You can’t imagine how amazing they are unless you see them with your own eyes.除非亲眼所见,否则你无法想象它们(岩石)的造型有多奇妙。
2.You will be attracted by the beautiful design of the buildings and the clothes and furniture that the emperors used in the past.你会被这里漂亮的建筑设计以及从前皇帝穿过的服装和用过的家具所吸引。

Activity Four Learn the Grammar1.though与although引导的让步状语从句的用法although较正式,语气强, though更常用。
注意他们引导的从句不能与but,however连用,但可与yet,still连用。
如:she is fifty years old,she looks young. 虽然她50岁了,但她看上去年轻。
2.unless 意为“如果不,除非”;引导条件状语从句。
如:(1)描述将来发生的事情时,通常主句用一般将来时,从句用一般现在时。
如果从句在前,后用逗号与主句隔开。
如:We won’t go to the party we are asked.除非被邀请,否则我们不去参加聚会。
(2)unless相当于if…not,可以相互转换。
但unless从句不用否定,如用否定式就用if…not。
如:He won’t catch up with the others unless he studies hard.=He won’t catch up with the others if he study hard.如果他不认真学习,他将赶不上班里其他同学。
