Wimbledon, the tournament
● There are three ways to be able to participate in the event. Players join automatically if they have a high world ranking or they compete well in the qualifying stage. Also, one of the officials can choose a player based on past performance. This spot is called the "Wild Card."
● "Lucky losers" are those players who didn't win during the qualifying stage but still earn a spot in the tournament if there are any openings.
● Wimbledon competitors play on natural grass, whereas players in the other Grand Slam events play on artificial surfaces.

1Jack's Wisborough Green FairIt was the first nice Saturday of spring, and I was super pumped to go to the Wisborough Green Fair with my best mate Jack. The fair is an annual tradition in our little village, celebrating the arrival of warmer weather and longer days. Even though I've been going every year since I was a little kid, I always get dead excited for all the fun activities, games, food, and just the whole atmosphere of it.Jack and I met up at 10 am, as soon as the fair opened its gates. The village green was already teeming with people setting up stalls and rides. The unmistakable scent of hot dogs, toffee apples, and funnel cakes wafted through the air, making my mouth water. We grabbed a couple of bacon butties from one of the food trucks to start our day."So what d'you want to do first?" Jack asked, bits of bread crumb stuck to the corners of his mouth.I thought for a moment, surveying all the choices. "How about the Tilt-a-Whirl? I want to get a good spin in before my stomach gets too full."The Tilt-a-Whirl is this classic fairground ride that whips you around at crazy speeds while spinning you every which way. Just describing it makes me feel a bit queasy, but in the best possible way. We queued up and I enjoyed watching the previous riders' faces get whipped into a frenzy of delirious joy and terror. When it was our turn, Jack and I hopped into one of the free carriage pods. The ride operator pulled down the safety bar across our laps and shouted, "Hold on tight, lads! It's about to get wild!"Those words were the only warning we got before the ride kicked into high gear. My head whipped back as we started spinning at an increasingly manic pace. Every few seconds, the whole platform would tilt, adding a sickening lateral lurch to the dizzying revolutions. I couldn't help but laugh like a loon, even as I felt my insides doing somersaults. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Jack's Yorkshire pudding face turning a slight shade of green. After what felt like an eternity of delightful torture, the ride began to slow to a stop. Jack and I stumbled off, our legsreminding us how to walk in a straight line. Jack put a hand over his mouth, looking rather ill."You alright, mate?" I laughed, giving him a friendly punch on the arm.He swallowed hard. "F-fine... Just need a mo'."Once Jack recovered his land legs, we wandered around the fairgrounds, taking in all the sights and sounds. We watched a bloke示onchenCorvette smash an old caravan to bits with a sledgehammer. Some other chaps were seeing who could hang on longest to the body of a wildly spinning metal cyclone. I opted to sit that one out after my Tilt-a-Whirl experience.A gang of my mates from school were all hovering around the game stalls, no doubt frittering away all their quid trying to win cheap stuffed animals for their girlfriends. I caught sight of my friend Sean walking away from the basketball hoop game, arm around his girl Lucy, carrying a massive stuffed unicorn nearly as big as she was. Talk about whipped!"Hey Sean! You finally growing a pair there, mate?" I hollered, causing Lucy to turn beet red.Sean just grinned and gave me a two-finger salute. Typical.Around midday, Jack and I started getting peckish again. We scored a couple of Yorkshire pudding wraps from the food area - mine was filled with roast beef, mash, and gravy while Jack went for the veggie option with mushy peas and mint sauce. We sat on one of the picnic tables, shoveling the hot, doughy parcels into our mouths and watching the scene unfold around us.After refueling, we decided to hit up some of the carnival games. Jack was a crack shot with the BB guns and won himself a foot-tall teddy bear after popping every single balloon. I was less successful at the high striker, failing to ring the bell at the top despite putting my entire skinny weight into each swing of the mallet. As the afternoon rolled on, we wandered through the craft tents, browsing the local wares for sale. Jack's mum is really into knitting and crochet, so he picked up a hand-crafted set of coasters for her. I grabbed a jar of homemade lemon curd for my nan - she loves that sort of thing.Eventually, our feet were sore and our bellies full, so we grabbed a spot on the village green to rest up and watch the evening entertainment get started. Local bands played folk tunes and Brit-pop covers while kids ran around tussling with glowsticks and noisemakers. As the sun began to sink below the tree line, I felt a slight chill in篇2Jack's Wimbledon AdventureWow, what a crazy experience I just had! You'll never believe where I ended up last weekend. It all started when my parents surprised me with tickets to the Wimbledon tennis championships. I was over the moon excited since Wimbledon is one of the biggest and most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world. We arrived at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club bright and early on Saturday morning. The grounds were absolutely massive with perfectly manicured grass courts everywhere. The energy was electric with fans buzzing around trying to catch a glimpse of their favorite players. My dad managed to get us decent seats on Court 18 where we watched a couple of early round matches. The level of tennis was mind-blowing. The players were just smashing the ball back and forth at blistering speeds. I could barely even see it half the time! Between games, I studied the programs my mom bought to read up on the different players' backgrounds and rankings. After the matches, we wandered around the outer courts where people had set up picnic blankets on the grass to watch on the huge TV screens set up throughout the grounds. We stopped to buy an overpriced but delicious strawberries and cream snack, which is a Wimbledon tradition. The strawberries were incredibly sweet and juicy. As we were walking around, I suddenly realized I had dropped my program somewhere. I told my parents I'd backtrack quickly to find it. But when I turned around, they were no longer in sight! There were just too many people milling about everywhere.I figured they couldn't have gone far, so I decided to keep looking for my program first before trying to locate them again. That turned out to be a big mistake because I soon became hopelessly lost in the maze of outer courts and hospitality tents.Every time I thought I was headed towards the exit, I just ended up more turned around in the massive grounds. I asked a few officials for directions, but their instructions made no sense to me. I was starting to feel really anxious being lost and alone at this huge event.Eventually, I stumbled upon what looked like the player's entrance and locker rooms. I had wandered into a relativelyempty corridor and didn't see any security guards around to shoo me away. Call it temporary insanity, but I decided to sneak through a door to see if I could find someone to help me.The next thing I knew, I had stumbled into what was clearly the Wimbledon men's locker room! The place was deserted except for a few tennis bags and gear lying around. For a split second, I froze in shock. Then I realized this was my chance to maybe meet one of the players themselves! My heart was pounding out of my chest as I tiptoed further inside. That's when I noticed a folding screen had been set up in the corner. I heard the shower running behind it along with some faint humming of a song. You're never going to believe who stepped out from behind that screen a few minutes later - Roger Federer himself He was wearing just a towel around his waist and using another to dry his hair. The GOAT (Greatest of All Time) was standing just a few feet away from me in his birthday suit!I couldn't breathe. We both just stared at each other in shock for what felt like an eternity. Then Federer broke the silence in his distinguished Swiss accent, "Hello? Who are you and what are you doing in here?"I immediately froze up and stammered, "Uhhh...I'm j-just a fan who got lost and I was l-looking for directions." Federer gave me a quizzical look before bursting out laughing, "Well, you've certainly found yourself in quite the adventurous situation!"I started babbling like an idiot about how I was just at the tournament with my parents when I lost them and got turned around. Federer, being the absolute class act that he is, listened patiently and then smiled saying he'd be happy to help me find my way back. Can you even imagine? I spent the next 20 minutes being personally escorted around the grounds by Roger freaking Federer! He asked me all about my thoughts on the matches that day as we chatted like we were old pals. I was gurgling like a fool just trying to form coherent sentences while a literal living legend walked beside me.When we finally reconnected with my frantic parents, their jaws just dropped seeing their teenage son laughing it up with one of the greatest athletes of all time. Federer shook their hands, apologized for my minor trespassing misadventure, and made sure I got home safely.I'm still pinching myself that this actually happened. Who would have thought getting a little lost at Wimbledon could leadto an up close and personal encounter with sporting royalty? This is definitely an experience I'll never forget!Talk about the adventure of a lifetime at the All England Club.I may just get "accidentally" lost again next year in hopes of running into Rafa Nadal or Novak Djokovic next time. A guy can dream, right? Although hopefully with less wardrobe malfunctions involved on their part!篇3Jack's Wimbledon AdventureWow, what an epic adventure I just had at the Wimbledon tennis championships! You'll never believe what happened to me last week. It was the first time I'd ever been to the famous tennis tournament, and I have to say, it totally exceeded my expectations. It all started when my dad surprised me with tickets to see the men's singles semifinals. He knows how obsessed I am with tennis - I'm always watching matches on TV and analyzing the players' techniques. Getting to actually be there in person was a dream come true.We took the tube to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, which is this mega posh area insouthwest London. As we walked up to the grounds, I could hardly contain my excitement. The iconic green and purple Wimbledon colors were everywhere, from the buildings to the staff's uniforms. Our seats were pretty decent, about twelve rows back from the court. Still, being that close to a Grand Slam event was mind-blowing for me. I brought my binoculars to get a better view of all the action. The atmosphere was electric, with people cheering and munching on strawberries and cream between points. The first semifinal was unreal. It went the full five sets and lasted nearly five hours! Both guys were hitting massive serves and groundstrokes. At one point a ball flew into the crowd and I stuck my hand up, but some old guy in front of me caught it instead. No autographs for me that day. There was a long break between the two semifinal matches, so my dad and I wandered around the grounds. We gawked at the slate sculptures around the venue, admired the flowers and foliage that gave Wimbledon its gorgeous garden vibe, and grabbed an overpriced but delicious chicken curry pie for lunch. So many smartly dressed people everywhere, sipping Pimm's and acting all posh. For the second semifinal, we decided to watch from the picnic grounds outside Court 1. Tons of people had brought blankets and were camped out on the grass, lugging coolers and snacking on strawberries while watching the match on the huge TV screen. Such a cool atmosphere! That's when the crazy part happened. A stray ball came flying over from a nearby court and I spotted it rolling across the grass. Remembering how gutted I was about missing the one earlier, I sprinted after it in pursuit. This stern-looking official saw me and started chasing me too, blowing his whistle like a maniac.I'll never forget the feeling of finally getting my hands on that fuzzy ball. Like I'd won my own Grand Slam title! The adrenaline was pumping as I dribbled it like a basketball to evade the official. People were cheering me on louder than the players on court. A few lads even started singing something about there being "a jack in the ground."After juking and jiving all over the picnic grounds, I finally decided to launch a skyhook shot from halfcourt...and banked it right into the media pit! The reporters had to scatter as the ball clanked off a camera lens. I raised my arms up victoriously, just as the winded official finally caught up and confiscated myhard-earned trophy ball. Oh well, at least I got my 15 minutes of Wimbledon fame!My dad gave me an earful about safety and respect on the walk back home, but I was still on a high. It was incredible being part of the action instead of just watching from my sofa. I'll never forget that hilarious adventure, or my first taste of the electric Wimbledon experience. Definitely motivated me to keep pursuing my dream of playing pro tennis one day - could you imagine me hoisting that trophy as a champion?? A lad can dream...。

(All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club)管理之下在伦敦温布尔登Worple路附近的一块场地举行。

“League of Legends Championship Series”(英雄联盟全球总决赛系列赛)和“The International Dota 2 Championships”(国际Dota 2锦标赛)就是其中著名代表。

“Best Employer in Hospitality Industry championship" (餐饮服务行业最佳雇主), "Global Mobile Phone Sales Championchip" (全球手机销售第一) 和 "The World's Most Valuable Brands Championsip"(全球最具价值品牌) 都属于此类型。

Title: The Origin of Tennis。

Tennis, as we know it today, is a sport that has evolved over centuries, with its origins tracing back to various ancient civilizations. The game has undergone numerous transformations throughout history, gradually shaping into the competitive sport enjoyed worldwide today. One of the earliest forms of tennis can be traced back to ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Greece, and Rome. In these societies, a precursor to tennis was played using the hand rather than rackets. This early version of the game involved hitting a ball back and forth over a makeshift net, demonstrating the fundamental concept of tennis – rallying a ball between opponents. However, it was during the Middle Ages in Europe that tennis began to take on a more recognizable form. The game became popular among the nobility and was often played inenclosed courtyards, leading to its association with the French word "tenez," meaning "take heed" or "receive." This term was used as players would call out to their opponents before serving the ball, a tradition that persists in modern tennis with the phrase "love," derived from the French word "l'oeuf," meaning egg, indicating zero in the score. The modern rules of tennis started to take shape in the 19th century, particularly in England.
