Nowadays, people’s popular belief (it is universally acknowledged that )is that sending(putting, throwing, imprisoning, casting sentencing, shutting) criminals(law-breaker, offender, outlaw, prisoner, wrong-doer, convict, culprit, gangster, mobster, robber, mugger, hijacker, villain, rogue, bad guy, murderer, rapist) into jail(life in prison) has been regarded as one of the effective(practical, feasible) ways(steps, measures, approaches) of easing(alleviating) crime rates. Some people, by contrast, put forward(come up with, raise, propose) a challenge(question, cast doubt on, criticize,), arguing that they are supposed to receive re-education and vocational training; however, my position(view, perspective, belief) is that imprisonment is not necessarily a bad thing(curse).毫无疑问，监禁至少有两点优势。

首先，这种做法有益于确保社会的安全和稳定。

比如，有些盗窃犯、抢劫犯和杀人犯让他们逍遥法外是十分危险的，因为他们随时都有可能对社会产生威胁。

通过关押他们，守法居民可以享有正常安宁的生活，从而保护其合法权益。

其次，把犯人关起来还对其他违反者具有震慑deterrent作用。

很明显，如果潜在犯人认识到犯罪会受到严厉的惩罚，他们就会三思而行。

事实上，调查也表明，监禁犯人与犯罪率下降有明确的联系。

所以，监禁是对待犯人可行而有效的一种做法。

It goes without saying that imprisoning wrong-doers carries at least two merits. Initially, this conduct (practice, act, behavior) contributes to ensuring(guaranteeing) social security(safety) and stability. For instance, it is even dangerous for some offenders such as robbers, muggers, and murderers to escape from being punished(out of laws) ( be free from imprisonment, be at large), in that they are far more likely to pose a potential threat to societies at any time. By throwing them into prison, law-abiding citizens(residents, dwellers, civilians, tenants, lodger) are able to enjoy normal and peaceful lives, thus being protected their legal (lawful, licit, legitimate, judicial)rights. Moreover, putting them into jails is deterrent（warning, alarm）to other would–be law-breakers. It is self-evident that if potential criminals realize that committing a crime will be seriously punished, they will think twice beforehand. In fact, investigation has indicated that there is a definite link between existence of imprisonment and declining crime rates. Therefore（Thus, Accordingly, As a consequence, For this reason, Overall）, imprisonment is considered to be a feasible and practical approach(measure, step, action) of treating them.当然，我也承认再教育和培训对改造犯人也是有帮助的。

一个主要原因就是为罪犯提供就业机会。

但是，这种做法的一个缺陷是并不是所有的犯人都乐意回到课堂学习。

因此，最重要的是我们应该采取有效的措施教育他们克服困难而接受教育。

Admittedly, I also accept (admit, acknowledge, concede, recognize, confess) that remolding and training is rewarding for criminals. One leading (principal, main, root, basic, fundamental) factor is to provide more employment opportunities (skills, techniques). In this way, they find it easy(possible) to obtain a decent(well-paid, ideal, desirable, satisfying) job after they are set free(released, let out of prison, liberated). However, one defect of this conduct is that not all wrong-doers are willing to go back to classrooms. What is most important is that effective measures ought to be adopted to encourage them to overcome some difficulties in order to receive education.Overall(In summary, To sum up, In a nutshell, All in all, To summarize, in conclusion), I am convinced(sure, certain, approve, ) that in spite of the fact that criminals can benefit from reeducation, there are more bright sides to the claim that imprisonment is a feasible（practical）way to reform them. In recent years, the employment rate of graduates is on the decline at an alarming rate. (Recent years have witnessed an alarmingly declining trend in employment rate of graduates.) In job market, it is difficult for even a graduate from prestigious(reputed, famed, well-known, famous) universities to hunt for (seek)a decent(well-paid, desirable, satisfactory) job. What gives rise to the worsening tendency of finding satisfying jobs and what should be done to curb the problem deserve a wide attention. In this essay, I would like to explore the root causes and put forward feasible proposals.In terms of reasons, at least two points cannot be neglected. The first is that the number of university students is increasing(on the rise) amasingly (alarmingly). To illustrate(exemplify), the number of graduates in China has increased by approximately 5 per cent annually (yearly) since the enrollment expansion. This means that the demand(requirement, need) in job market is becoming relatively on the decrease. Thus, it is taken for granted that university students find it hard to seek jobs.二是大学生在校学习的课程存在一些问题。
