大学英语作文之中西方文化对比 Lines and Circles,West and East

大学英语作文之中西方文化对比 Lines and Circles,West and East

大学英语作文之中西方文化对比 Lines and Circles,Westand EastEverything is relative, cultural difference being no exception. Culture, as the total pattern of human behavior and its products, oversteps geographical limits and historical conditions in many ways, and it is characterized by its strong penetrativeness and fusibility. The advancement of the globalized economy and the rapidity and ease of modern communication, transportation, and mass media have resulted in an ever increasing exchange between cultures, unprecedented in scale, scope, and speed. Consequently, an increase in universality and a reduction in difference between cultures is an inevitable trend. It is no surprise to see phenomena characteristic of one culture existing in another. As a result, some people even fear that the world will become a dull place when all the different nationalities behave exactly alike.Nevertheless, the “cultural sediment” formed through long-range accumulation is not to be easily removed, and the cultural tradition handed down from generation to generation shows great consistency and continuity. The cultures of different regions and nations still have their own distinctive peculiarities, and therefore significance still needs to be attached to the study of the individualities of different cultures against the background of their universality.By and large, linearity and circularity can be used to indicate the majordifference between Western and Chinese cultures. “Western culture” here is a general term, putting aside its interior regional diversities in order to contrast it with Chinese culture. A circle is a round enclosure. A line is a narrow continuous mark. The contrast between the linearity of Western culture and the circularity of Chinese culture embodies itself in such aspects as worldview, core value, outlook on time, and mode of thinking.。

In a addition, the rate of going to school ,the salary of teaching ,and the job of graduates are quite different, too. I should say that China government should make great efforts to improve its teaching system. 中西方审美差异英语作文

中西方审美差异英语作文

中西方审美差异英语作文The Divergent Aesthetics of the East and WestThe world is a tapestry of diverse cultures, each with its unique perspectives and approaches to the appreciation of beauty. The dichotomy between Eastern and Western aesthetics has long been a subject of fascination, as the two distinct philosophical and cultural traditions have given rise to strikingly different conceptions of what constitutes beauty and artistic expression. This essay aims to explore the fundamental differences in the aesthetic sensibilities of the East and West, highlighting the historical, philosophical, and cultural factors that have shaped these divergent perspectives. At the heart of the Eastern aesthetic tradition lies a profound reverence for harmony, balance, and the natural world. In the East, beauty is often perceived as a reflection of the inherent order and interconnectedness of the universe. This perspective is deeply rooted in the philosophical traditions of Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism, which emphasize the importance of finding one's place within the natural flow of the Dao or the cyclical rhythms of nature. The Eastern artist is often seen as a conduit, channeling the energy and essence of the natural world into their creative expressions. One of the most striking manifestations of Eastern aesthetics is the art of calligraphy, which is revered as a highly refined and spiritual practice. In the Eastern tradition, the act of writing is not merely a means of communication but a profound expression of the artist's inner state and connection to the natural world. The fluid, evocative strokes of the calligrapher's brush are seen as a reflection of the artist's own breath and embodiment of the Dao. The appreciation of calligraphy requires a deep understanding of the underlying philosophical principles, as well as a sensitivity to the subtle nuances of line, rhythm, and balance.Another key aspect of Eastern aesthetics is the emphasis on simplicity, restraint, and the appreciation of negative space. In traditional Eastern art forms, such as ink painting, the use of empty space, or "ma," is considered just as important as the depicted subject matter. This negative space is not seen as a void but rather as a dynamic and essential element that allows the viewer to engage with the work on a deeper level, inviting contemplation and the exploration of the unseen. In contrast, Western aesthetics have been heavily influenced by the classical and Greco-Roman traditions, which placed a greater emphasis on realism, proportion, and the representation of the human form. The Western artistic tradition has often beencharacterized by a desire to capture and emulate the natural world, with a focus on the accurate depiction of reality. This approach is evident in the development of perspective, chiaroscuro, and other techniques aimed at creating a sense of depth and three-dimensionality.Moreover, the Western conception of beauty has been shaped by the Judeo-Christian tradition, which has often associated beauty with the divine and the transcendent. The Western artist is often seen as a creator, imbued with the power to shape and transform the world around them. This perspective has led to a greater emphasis on the individual expression and the exploration of the human experience, as opposed to the Eastern focus on the integration of the individual within the natural order. The divergence between Eastern and Western aesthetics is also reflected in the different approaches to the appreciation and display of art. In the East, art is often experienced in a more intimate, contemplative setting, such as the traditional tea ceremony or the carefully curated garden. The emphasis is on the cultivation of a meditative state, where the viewer can engage with the work on a deeper, more intuitive level. In contrast, the Western tradition has often favored the grand, monumental display of art, with the museum and gallery serving asthe primary venues for artistic engagement. This approach reflects a greater emphasis on the individual's ability to comprehend and interpret the work, as well as a desire to showcase the artist's technical mastery and creative vision.Despite these fundamental differences, the dialogue between Eastern and Western aesthetics has been a rich and ongoing process, with artists and thinkers from both traditions engaging in a fruitful exchange of ideas and perspectives. In an increasingly globalized world, the appreciation of these divergent aesthetic sensibilities can serve as a bridge for cross-cultural understanding and the enrichment of our collective artistic and cultural heritage. In conclusion, the divergent aesthetics of the East and West are a testament to the richness and diversity of human expression. By exploring these differences, we can gain a deeper appreciation for the multifaceted nature of beauty and the ways in which it is perceived and celebrated across cultures. As we continue to navigate the complexities of the modern world, the insights gleaned from this exploration can serve as a guide for cultivating a more nuanced and inclusive understanding of the human experience.。

关于中西文化的英语作文Cultural Divergence: Exploring the Distinctive Tapestry of Eastern and Western Societies.Throughout history, civilizations have evolved in distinct geographical and cultural contexts, shaping the values, beliefs, and behaviors of their inhabitants. The vibrant tapestry of human societies exhibits a fascinating array of cultural diversity, with the contrasting perspectives of East and West standing as prominent examples. This essay delves into the multifaceted differences and similarities between Eastern and Western cultures, exploring their historical roots, philosophical underpinnings, and societal implications.Historical Roots and Geographical Influences. The divergence between Eastern and Western cultures has its origins in the distinct geographical and historical experiences of their respective regions. The vastness ofthe Asian continent, coupled with its relative isolation from other civilizations, allowed for the development of independent and self-sufficient societies. In contrast, the smaller and more interconnected European continent fostered a greater degree of cultural exchange and competition. As a result, Eastern societies tended to be more inward-looking, valuing harmony and stability, while Western societies exhibited a more outward-looking and competitive orientation.Philosophical Foundations. The philosophical underpinnings of Eastern and Western cultures further contribute to their distinct characteristics. Eastern philosophies, such as Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism, emphasize the importance of harmony with nature, the interconnectedness of all things, and the pursuit of inner peace. These philosophies value collectivism, respect for authority, and self-cultivation.In contrast, Western philosophies, such as those of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, emphasize the importance of rationalism, individualism, and the pursuit of objectiveknowledge. These philosophies value competition, self-reliance, and the pursuit of material success.Societal Implications. The philosophical differences between Eastern and Western cultures manifest themselves in a myriad ofsocietal implications. In Eastern societies, family and community play a pivotal role in shaping individual lives. Relationships are highly valued, and individuals are expected to conform to social norms and expectations. In Western societies, individualism and personal autonomy are more highly prized. Individuals are encouraged to pursue their own interests and goals, and there is less emphasis on social conformity.Another key difference lies in the relationship between the individual and the state. In Eastern societies, the state is often seen as a paternalistic entity that plays a central role in providing for the welfare of its citizens. In contrast, Western societies tend to emphasize the importance of individual freedom and limited governmentintervention.Similarities Despite Differences.Despite their many differences, Eastern and Western cultures also share some important similarities. Both cultures value education, hard work, and ethical behavior. Both cultures have produced great works of art, literature, and music. And both cultures have a rich history ofspiritual and religious beliefs.Conclusion.The cultural divergence between East and West is a testament to the diversity and complexity of human society. The distinct historical, philosophical, and societal implications of Eastern and Western cultures have shaped the unique identities of their respective civilizations. While these differences can sometimes lead to misunderstandings and conflicts, they also serve as a source of fascination and inspiration. By embracing both the similarities and the differences between our cultures,we can foster greater understanding, cooperation, and global harmony.。

The Cultural Adaption Strategies of Chinese Overseas Students

The Cultural Adaption Strategies of Chinese Overseas Students

The Cultural Adaption Strategies of Chinese Overseas StudentsAbstractThere are many cultural differences in China and West due to different historical backgrounds, social customs, geographical locations, religious beliefs, aesthetic psychology.Chinese overseas students can not adapt to foreign culture. The purpose of this paper is to introduce and analyze some major cultural features between China and Western nations, and the influential factors of the cultural adaptation,in order to help overseas students get a better understanding of how to adapt to the western culture. Keywords: cultural adaption ; cultural differences; overseas students1. IntroductionIn recent years, more and more Chinese overseas students choose to study abroad in western nations due to China’policy of reform and opening up to the outside world . As we know, the process of studying abroad is also a process of cultural contact and cultural learning. In the academic community, this process is called the cultural adaption. The cultural adaptation research is one of the important fields in the cross-cultural study. The cultural adaptation refers to changes for the participants in the new environment, an appropriate and effective communication process. The cultural adaptation research is one of the important fields in the cross-cultural study. As for this topic, many scholars and experts have done research in the field of the cultural adaptation strategy of Chinese overseas students.Huang. J pointed out that Chinese students have stress and anxiety which caused by the communication difficulties of language in the United St ates (Huang. J, 1984). Wan, G.F’s research shows that Chinese students’ depression experiences in the intercultural exchange mainly because they can't adapt to overseas culture (Wan, G.F, 2006), and some researches show that peculiar distance between Chinese and Western culture, different life habits and thinking difference arealso the factors to cause the difficulty to adapt to the western culture. They all made contributions to the cultural adaptation for the study of Chinese overseas students, they showed that due to the different cultures at home and abroad, most Chinese students can't adapt to the overseas culture ,which needs more researches to help Chinese overseas students adapt to foreign culture .Although there are many scholars and experts have done research in the field of cultural adaptation strategy of Chinese oversea students, further research is needed. So we need to research the problem together. This paper aims to help the academic community get a better understanding of the Chinese overseas students in the western countries , and help Chinese students learn more and adapt to the foreign culture.2 .The Definition of Cultural AdaptionAdaptation refers to change, accommodation and evolution. Culture includes language, dress, food, holidays, history, traditions, religion, music and other forms of art.Culture adaptation is an evolutionary process .In this process an individual modifies his personal habits and customs to accord with a particular culture. It can also refer to gradual changes within a culture or society that occur as people from different backgrounds participate in the culture and share their perspectives and practices.3. The Influential Factors of the Cultural Adaptation3.1 The Differences of the Way of ThinkingFirstly,Chinese people pay much attention to concrete thinking, while westerners attach importance to abstract analysis.Chinese way of thinking is holistic thinking, and the western way of thinking belongs to analysis, logical abstract thinking.Chinese are good at induction, so we have Complete library in the Four Branches of Literature andfour masterpieces of China, all of these are the summary of the culture. While the westerners pay much attention to illation, they conduct in-depth investigation and research in a certain field. And the Chinese emphasize on group, we advocate the progress of the whole and the unity of the whole, while the westerners emphasize on individual, they pursue individualized capability. Chinese are good at imaginal thinking, while westerners are good at logic thinking; Chinese people have more temperament of poet, while westerners have more scientific mind, all of these are due to the differences between Chinese and western way of thinking. Briefly Speaking, Chinese mainly think from the whole structure, while westerners pay much attention to specific problems and details.Second,Chinese are conservative, but westerners are open minded. Chinese way of thinking is more conservative than westerners’,and the golden mean of the Confucian school is exactly the typical case. The content of the golden mean is very extensive. It is the basic method of observing and knowing problems for people, and it still has an irreplaceable value for us, however ,it obstacles for the historical development. And this is an important factor to influence the Chinese way of thinking. While westerners are more open minded. They advocate freedom, individuality, and they have the courage to express their ideas and opinions. They are more confident than Chinese and they also have more creative abilities. But this way of thinking is not perfect, either, because it may also cause extreme thinking.Third, Chinese are used to curve thinking, while westerners’thinking are straight. In the Western philosophy, it has been an enduring custom to chase for alternate contrast in its inference, consequently building a straight thinking pattern. On the other hand, we Chinese have been more habituated to the unity and harmony of the world, especially that between the nature and the human beings, and are more likely to adopt both sides of a matter, therefore establishing a curve and tortuous thinking mode.3.2 The Differences of Living HabitWe can study it from the details of life to find out the differences between the twokinds of living habit.Greetings are necessary means to establish social relationship.Due to different culture, people use different ways to say hellow to the others. When Chinese come across their friends, they may say"Have you got lunch?" ,which puzzles Westerners a lot.Because in western culture this kind of greetings means inviting that person to have a meal together with the speaker. If the greeting happens between a man and a woman who are both single,it means that the man asks the woman for a date.In fact, the greeting of Chinese is only a form, and it doesn’t have any practical meaning. It just like "Fine day, isn’t?", which doesn’t mean that people really care about the weather. The Chinese and Westerners' topics of conversations have diversities, too. In the conversation,Chinese always start with" Where are you from? How old are you? How much do you earn?".While in western culture, the topics about Money, Health, Family and so on are regard as privacy. And when you want to show your care to a sick person,we Chinese always say "Drink plenty of water" or "Put on more clothes".However, in western culture, words like "Put on more clothes" or "Drink plenty of water" have the meaning of "protection" and "mother love",and it will make Westerners feel displeased. Under this circumstance, words like "I do hope you'll be feeling better soon.Look after yourself.Have you been to the doctor?" will be a good choice to show your care to the sick in Western countries. In addition, there are also other differences between Chinese and Westerner countries. For instance,Westerners are used to premature consumption, while Chinese save money for consumption; Most Westerners line up in turn to wait for the bus, while most Chinese squeeze and push to get on the bus earlier;Western people observe the traffic rules when they cross the road, while Chinese people usually run the red light.4. The Cultural Maladjustment of Overseas Students4.1 Study AspectThe problems of study aspect is mainly about language and learning method.Chinese overseas students could not adapt to a variety of foreign accent ,and there are essential differences between Chinese and Western education.Chinese educational model is s poon-feeding the students, while western learning method is often group discussion which can make students express themselves and communicate directly with other students who have different cultural backgrounds.Chinese overseas students feel hard to study well because they can't adapt to this kind of learning method. In the west, the students study mainly rely on their learning self-consciousness,because the teachers and school administrative institutions will not execute quite strict supervision to students' study. While in China, the teachers always supervise and urge students to study harder and harder and tell them what should be studied and grasped, which lead to the result that most of the Chinese students are lack of the ability of self-directed learning and self-consciousness of learning. On the other hand, China's educational mode cultivates nearly mute foreign language, and almost all the Chinese overseas students have language difficulties more or less at the beginning of the study. They may not understand what the teachers speak in the classroom,or someone else could not see what their classmates are talking about during the group discussions. Some Chinese overseas students also have problems with their homeworks, examinations and theses.4.2 Life AspectThe first thing and the most important thing for Chinese overseas students is to find out how to be independent .What is more, they must learn to solve every single problem by themselves. They will not only study, but also get a part-time job after school. A lot of Chinese overseas students are the only child in their family so that their abilities to care for themselves is too weak. For example, they are not able to cook, or use washing machines. They can not buy suitable daily necessities, either. Because of the differences in the habit of diet, some students always hope to have authentic Chinese food abroad, that is to say ,they can not adopt themselves to the local diet.5.The Cultural Adaptation Strategy of Chinese OverseasStudents5.1 The Cultural Adaptation Before Going AbroadAlthough there has been a booming in going abroad to study , the overseas students may face all kinds of problem both physically and mentally. So it's very important to make good preparations .First of all, have a good knowledge of the language of country you are going to study . Because most of the students learning foreign language only in reading and writing, oral communication is very weak , and the culture tradition of the foreign language brings a lot of difficulties to communication and influent the adaption to the local , social and cultural life . So , learning a foreign language well before going abroad is the key to the success of the cultural adaption.we had better attend a language training course to ensure we can communicate with the local people since the language is the basic problem of living abroad independently , what's more, most of the universities have certain requirements for language .Secondly, to overcome the cultural bias. Prejudice is the formation of the original information processing due to inadequate and the flow of information asymmetry. Step out and hang out with the international students, try to integrate all the information and destination countries on the reasonable work through various channels , through the Internet and books to understand the local conditions and customs of destination countries, especially its cultural understanding of strengthening. Finally, taking the necessary cultural adaptation strategy. Before going abroad, try to learn some strategies on how to cope with pressure, such as attending the training course method, positive attitude method to relax your minds , and so on.. Mastering some reasonable mood therapy can improve your mood, in order to adapt to the life abroad better and more quickly. Then we can search the Internet to know what is the weather like and decide what to take , after all, health problem is the most important thing . At thesame time, we'd better get familiar with the habits and customs of the local people . At last , we can communicate with friends or relatives who have been abroad .5.2 The Cultural Adaptation of the Skills after Studying AbroadThe experience of going to a new country is companied with opportunities to learn about your second hometown and to reflect upon the foreign countries or your home country, but it is with stress as you meet new people and learn new lifestyle. And maybe you have made a perfect preparation before going abroad , but if you are going abroad for the first time, you should experience what is commonly referred to as culture shock . Indeed , recently, according to a survey on the what does the overseas students think of their foreign country lives, the result shows that more than 70 percent of overseas students would feel excluded to the exotic life, and these uncomfortable feelings mainly lies in language and culture. You may consider keeping a journal, which will not only prompt you to think about your experiences, but will be a wonderful record of your time abroad in the years to come to maintains positive attitude towards both visited and home culture. Students have to be good at adjusting themselves and keeping healthly. They can neither deny foreign culture entirely base on their own country values nor blindly worship the foreign culture and lost themselves. Try to understand the cultural differences, with optimistic psychological state and look at cultural differences between the two countries by the psychological control and with a positive enterprising in foreign st but not least, enhance the students' own safety awarenesses. The best way to guarantee the safety of overseas students is strengthening self safety awareness, never give an opportunity to any danger, in the study, life, travel, making friends and so on, try to improve the ability of self defense5.3 Provide Cross Cultural Psychological Counseling Services for StudentsOverseas students living alone in a foreign country, in addition to the pressure of changing lifestyle and learning environment ,they must adapt to cope with a new life pressure alone. The students are in all kinds of pressure, it's hard to avoid from emotional fluctuations, sometimes ,there are some seasonal emotional problems, special in the winter of Canada, in the dark early. Depression is a serious and common problem that student is not easy to handle. Do not want to contact with the new classmates and teachers, do not want to live in a host family, even do not want to go to school. These situations are very common among the overseas students, if we just think that students just lazy or do not work hard, we will be quite possible to ignore the psychologic problems of the overseas students. So psychological counseling of overseas students has become an inevitable issue. Among the overseas students , the most concerning is the growing number of young students. Their psychological state are still in the developing and in the process of being mature, anti-frustration ability is weak, adaptability is low, too. The poor stability students is the most likely to have mental problems group of people. For this group, the Chinese embassy or consulate in all countries can draw lessons from domestic middle school and college practice, set up special psychological consultation institutions, routine to develop the mental health activities, help them in psychological mature as soon as possible.6 ConclusionThe aim of this study was to find out the experiences of the overseas students while they were making adaption to their new academic culture and social environment. Based on a reading of the various findings of the Chinese students studying and living abroad, my conclusion is that they would be experiencing, or have experienced,a high degree of cross-cultural anxiety. The students reported various levels of frustration and misunderstanding arising from the mismatch of their own culture and that of the hostcountry, but there were no indications that at any stage had "disintegration" occurred either physically or in psychological/personality terms. There seemed to be crises of confidence and in establishing a sense of place in the new country but not the fundamental shaking of personality mentioned . The new situation, not surprisingly, did cause them to assess their goals and motivations and to analyse host and home cultures.Living and studying abroad by themselves, the overseas students would always have much pressure on their shoulders. If they can not be quickly integrated into the new language environment, a new way of life, it is prone to bring negative emotions of frustration and anxiety to the overseas students that will ultimately affect their own lives.Expect that things, both large and small, will be different; understanding why they are different can be a helpful way of learning about your new environment.it’s helpful to be aware of what to expect so that you will be better able to understand what is happening and why you are responding to certain situations in ways that may be unlike your customary behavior. It may also be helpful to remind yourself at such times that you chose to go abroad because you wanted to embrace difference, and that getting out and doing things will help you get through the adjustment and make the most of your time abroad.References[1] Berry J W. 1991. 中西方文化区别的作文用英语Cultural Crossroads: Exploring the Distinctive Traits of Eastern and Western Civilizations The tapestry of human civilization is woven with threads of diverse cultures, each boasting unique patterns and vibrant hues. Perhaps no two cultural spheres are as often compared and contrasted as those of the East and West. While globalization has blurred some lines, fundamental differences in values, beliefs, and social norms continue to shape these distinct cultural identities. One of the most prominent distinctions lies in the perception of the individual and society. Eastern cultures, heavily influenced by Confucianism and collectivist philosophies, emphasize the importance of community, harmony, and interdependence. Individuals are seen as part of a larger whole, prioritizing the needs of the group over personal desires. This manifests in a strong sense of filial piety, respect for elders, and a focus on social stability. Western cultures, by contrast, tend to value individualism, personal liberty, and self-reliance. Individuals are encouraged to pursue their own goals and aspirations, often placing personal fulfillment above collective obligations. This difference is reflected in societal structures, economic systems, and even artistic expressions. Religious and philosophical underpinnings further contribute to the divergence between East and West. Eastern thought often embraces spiritualism and the interconnectedness ofall things. Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, and Confucianism, with their emphasis on inner peace, meditation, and the pursuit of enlightenment, have profoundly shaped Eastern worldviews. Western thought, rooted in Greek philosophy and Judeo-Christian traditions, places a stronger emphasis on reason, logic, and empirical observation. The pursuit of knowledge, scientific inquiry, and the concept of individual salvation have been driving forces in Western societies. These contrasting philosophical foundations influence approaches to problem-solving and decision-making. Eastern cultures tend to favor a more holistic perspective, considering the intricate interplay of factors and seeking solutions that maintain harmony and balance. Western cultures, with their emphasis on logic and analysis, often adopt a more linear approach, breaking down problems into manageable components and seeking the most efficient solution. These cultural disparities are also evident in communication styles. Eastern cultures, valuing indirectnessand subtlety, rely heavily on nonverbal cues, context, and implicit understanding. Maintaining social harmony and avoiding confrontation are paramount. Western communication, in contrast, prizes directness, clarity, and explicit expression. Individuals are encouraged to articulate their thoughts and feelings openly and directly. This difference can lead to misunderstandings, as subtle cues might be missed or directness might be perceived as rude or confrontational. Artistic expressions also reflect the contrasting values of Eastern and Western cultures. Eastern art often emphasizes harmony, balance, and the beauty of nature. Calligraphy, landscape painting, and traditional music frequently evoke a sense of tranquility and spiritual contemplation. Western art, influenced by Renaissance ideals and the pursuit of realism, often emphasizes individual expression, dramatic narratives, and the exploration of human emotions. The use of perspective, vibrant colors, and grand themes distinguishes much of Western artistic tradition. Despite these distinctions, it is important to acknowledge the increasing interconnectedness of the modern world. Globalization has fostered cross-cultural exchange, leading to a blurring of boundaries and the emergence of hybrid cultural forms. Western ideals of individualism are gaining traction in some Eastern societies, while Eastern philosophies like mindfulness and meditation are finding receptive audiences in the West. This cultural convergence presents both opportunities and challenges, urging us to approach cultural differences with sensitivity, understanding, and a willingness to learn from one another. Ultimately, exploring the distinctions between Eastern and Western cultures is not about establishing superiority or inferiority. Rather, it is about appreciatingthe richness and complexity of human experience, recognizing the validity of different perspectives, and fostering a world where diverse cultures can coexist and thrive. This requires continuous dialogue, mutual respect, and a genuine desire to bridge cultural divides, creating a global community enriched by the tapestry of our shared humanity.。

In today's interconnected world, cross-cultural exchange plays a pivotal role in shaping our understanding of diverse perspectives and fostering mutual respect among people from different backgrounds. Particularly in the realm of English composition, the integration of varied cultural influences enriches both the content and the context of our writings. In this essay, I will delve into the significance of cross-cultural exchange in English composition, exploring how it enhances communication, promotes empathy, and cultivates global citizenship.First and foremost, cross-cultural exchange in English composition enhances communication by broadening our linguistic repertoire and facilitating effective expression across cultural boundaries. When we engage with diverse cultural perspectives, we encounter unique idioms, expressions, and linguistic nuances that expand our vocabulary and deepen our understanding of language usage. By incorporating elements from different cultures into our writing, we not only convey our ideas more effectively but also bridge the gap between individuals with disparate linguistic backgrounds. For instance, integrating Chinese proverbs or Spanish idioms into English essays adds depth and resonance to the message, making it more relatable and engaging to a diverse audience. Moreover, cross-cultural exchange fosters empathy by encouraging us to step into the shoes of others and appreciate their worldview. Through exposure to literature, art, and customs from various cultures, we gain insightinto the experiences, values, and beliefs that shape different societies. This newfound understanding cultivates empathy, allowing us to empathize with perspectives that may differ from our own. In the context of English composition, incorporating narratives or anecdotes from different cultural contexts enables us to portray characters with authenticity and sensitivity, thereby fostering empathy among readers and promoting culturalinclusivity.Furthermore, cross-cultural exchange in English composition nurtures global citizenship by promoting intercultural competence and fostering a sense of interconnectedness among individuals worldwide. As we engage with diverse cultural perspectives, we develop the skills to navigate cultural differences respectfully and collaboratively. This ability to communicate effectively across cultures is essential in an increasingly globalized world where interactions transcend geographical boundaries. By embracing cultural diversity in our writing, we contribute to the cultivation of a more inclusive and interconnected global community where mutual respect and understanding serve as the foundation for meaningful dialogue and collaboration. In conclusion, cross-cultural exchange plays a pivotal role in English composition by enhancing communication, promoting empathy, and cultivating global citizenship. By incorporating diverse cultural perspectives into our writing, we not only enrich the content and context of ourcompositions but also contribute to the creation of a more inclusive and interconnected world. As we continue to embrace cultural diversity in our writing, let us recognize the transformative power of cross-cultural exchange in shaping our understanding of the human experience and fostering a more harmonious coexistence among individuals from all walks of life.。

The Cross-cultural Adaptation of Western Literature
----Setting Hamlet and the Banquet as an Example
1. Introduction
1.1 The current situation of the study of cross-cultural adaptation Cross-cultural adaptation is the product of the interaction of different cultures and a cultural phenomenon of globalization. Complicated as the reason and diverse as the forms of the cross-cultural adaptation may be, the scholars around the world try to conclude the concepts and classify the theories. In the recent decade, the research on the
cross-cultural adaptation has caused the worldwide repercussions among the theater theorists. (Zhu and Que, 2011) As the pioneer of cross-cultural adaptation theories, German theater theorist Erika Fischer-Lichte argues that the diverse development of the modern dramas is influenced by the performing practice of the interweaving cultures, which plays a dynamic role of the construction of the modernity. In China, the pioneer scholar, Professor He Chengzhou of Nanjing University, describes three modes of culture transference, and points out the importance of the audience‘s reflection in studying cross-cultural dramas.(He, 2009)
The research at present mainly focuses on the performances and the texts, less of which has paid attention to the acceptance and reflection of the audience and has studied it from the perspective of comparative literature.
1.2 Literature status and influence of Shakespeare‘s plays William Shakespeare is the greatest playwright in the world. His works are regarded as the treasure of mankind, which has be adapted into various forms of works of arts, such as the Disney cartoon King Lion, the modern romantic film Romeo and Julia, stage drama and so on. Since the first film adapted from King Lear in 1899, there have been more than 400 adapted works and more than 40 of them won Oscar or London Film Academy. (Liu, 2010)Among all the great works, Hamlet is the most renowned work with its complicated plot. Perhaps, no other character‘s name in Shakespeare‘s plays, and few in any other author‘s works, have been converted into a noun expressive of an attitude to life o r ―philosophy‖. The interpretations vary from different countries and nations. In France, Hamlet comes to be seen as a contemplative in pursuit of ideals, but trapped in a world demanding action, or a noble figure capable of action, but embittered and rendered ineffectual by his disgust with the world around him. In Russia, Hamlet became the exemplar of what Turgenev called the superfluous man..(Wells, 2002) The character itself, combined with the unique culture can have a variety of diverse meanings, let alone the outcome of the combination of the play and the native cultures. Except for the Bible, there is no such masterpiece of a writer that can influence and reflect the life of people in the West as Shakespeare did. Hamlet, in particular, reflects the realistic problems and ideological puzzles in England at。
