Module 6 A famous story过去进行时1. 基本概念过去进行时表示在过去某一时间正在进行的动作或某一段时间内一直进行的动作。

2. 过去进行时的构成过去进行时是由“was/were+现在分词”构成。

was用于主语是第一人称及第三人称单数的句子中,were用于主语是第二人称及其他人称复数的句子中。

4. 过去进行时的基本用法(1)表示过去某一时间正在进行的动作。

时间状语通常比较具体,如at 6 o’clock yesterday morning, at this time last night等。

My mother was cooking at seven yesterday evening.昨天晚上7点我母亲正在做饭。

(2)表示过去某一段时间内正在进行的动作。

She was reading a book all the morning.整个上午她都在读一本书。

(3)用于含有when或while引导的时间状语从句的主从复合句的主句或从句中。

当主句的动作先于从句的动作发生,且持续的时间较长时,主句用过去进行时态,从句用一般过去时态;反之,当从句的动作先于主句的动作发生,且持续的时间较长时,从句用过去进行时态,主句用一般过去时态;当主从句的动作分不清谁先谁后且持续的时间都较长时,则主从句都用过去进行时态。
