Let's dive into the exciting world of ice hockey and explore its rules and regulations. In ice hockey, two teams compete against each other, aiming to score goals by shooting the puck into the opponent's net. The game is played on a large ice rink, with five players from each team on the ice at a time, including a goaltender who defends the net. The players use sticks to handle the puck and maneuver it across the ice, while wearing protective gear such as helmets, pads, and gloves. The game consists of three periods, each lasting 20 minutes. The teams switch ends after each period. The objective is to score more goals than the opposing team byshooting the puck into the net. Players can pass the puck to their teammates, but they must be careful to avoid the opposing team's defense and goaltender, who are always ready to intercept and block shots.Physical contact is a crucial aspect of ice hockey. Players are allowed to body-check their opponents to gain possession of the puck or to disrupt their plays. However, there are rules in place to prevent excessive violence and ensure player safety. Penalties, such as time in the penalty box, are given for infractions like tripping, slashing, or fighting. One of the most exciting aspects of ice hockey is the power play. When a player from one team commits a penalty, the opposing team gains a numerical advantage for a specified amount of time. This creates a power play situation, where the team with more players on the ice has a higher chance of scoring. Power plays often lead to intense offensive plays and can be a turning point in the game.Overtime is another thrilling element of ice hockey. If the game is tied at the end of regulation time, an additional period is played to determine the winner. Overtime periods are typically shorter, lasting around five minutes, and the first team to score a goal wins the game. If no goal is scored during overtime, a shootout takes place, where players take turns shooting against the opposing goaltender to decide the winner.Ice hockey is not only about skill and strategy but also about teamwork and camaraderie. Players must work together to create scoring opportunities, defend their net, and support each other on the ice. The game is filled with intense moments, breathtaking goals, and incredible saves, making it a favorite among sports enthusiasts. So, next time you watch an ice hockey game, keep these rules in mind, and get ready to witness the excitement and adrenaline of this amazing sport.。

transcripts, each represented by GRanges objects whose ranges represent the exons comprising the transcripts. The percent overlap is the number of nucleotides falling within both transcripts divided by the number of nucleotides falling within either eful as a measure of transcript closeness(as it is essentially Jaccard distance).
