英语考试作文英语专业八级TEM8考试作文范文(五)Providing physical exercises should not be the schools responsibility? While physical exercise is important, I do not believe that it is the school’s responsibility to provide physical training for its students. That is something that everyone can take care of on his or her own. Many students get plenty of physical exercise as part of their daily life or recreation. A student who bicycles ten miles to and from school does not need more exercise. A good physical education program must take a student’s outside activity into consideration. Otherwise, some students will spend valuable class hours repeating physical exercise. If a school offers such activities, it also suggests thatstudents will be graded on them. The range of possible physical activities is great: football, swimming, weight lifting, ballet, ballroom dance, yoga, skiiing, horseback riding, and golf are just a few. However, the number of activities that a school could offer is small. Some students could get bad grades in physical education simply because the school could not provide an activity they enjoy or do well. This seems unfair. Research suggests that participation, not excellence, in these activities determines the psysical benefits the body will get.Another issue is economic. Many schools do not have the money to provide gry facilities, playing fields, and athletic equipment for their student. Other schools are located in cities where the kind of space just is not available. A few shools would rather keep money for academic purposes.Schools can certainly encourage physical activity. They can provide space for activities, events, and classes for psysical activities. They can encourage students to plan time away from academic studies to get some exercise. However, I think that providing exercise should not be the schools responsibility.。

专业英语八级作文篇1With the development of globalization, there are an increasing number of scholars these days who hold the opinion that we need a common language to be spoken by all the people in the world. However, other scholars are afraid that this will weaken other languages and cultures at the same time. As for me, I am not in favor of the viewpoint that one language should replace others as the universal one.Nowadays it is universally acknowledged公认的that language is not only a tool of communication but also a kind of art. Each language, no matter what kind of language it is, has its unique pronunciation, grammar and expressions, which contribute to the diversity of the world. Therefore, if the diverse languages are diminished, our world will become less colorful. We can say that language is part of culture, and plays a considerably important role in culture. Indeed, some social scientists consider it the keystone of culture. Without language, so the argument goes, culture would not be possible. On the other hand, language is influenced and shaped by culture; it reflects culture. In the broadest sense, language is the symbolic representation of a people, and it comprises their historical and cultural backgrounds as well as their approach to life and their ways of living and thinking. Cultures differ from one another, andeach culture is unique. There is no denying that it will be a disaster for us to see the world's diverse cultures disappear one by one. When all the factors are examined, we may safely come to the conclusion that although we are convinced that, no matter what our career choice is, a command of foreign languages is an important skill to acquire, yet we should protect our own language, the carrier of our culture.专业英语八级作文篇2My Family Everybody both has a happy family. How about my family? Well, there are four people in my family. They are my father, my mother, my sister and me. My father is as tall as me. And we are both taller than my mother and sister. Although my mother and sister are both shorter than us, they are very hard-working.My father is older than my mother , my sister and me . He is forty- five years old and my mother is thirty - nine years old this year . What about your family? Do you have a family the same happy as mine?专业英语八级作文篇3Help my mom with the the housework Last Sunday ,I helped my mom do the housework . First my mom asked me to take out the trash. At the same time ,my mom cleaned the living room . Then I made my bed .And my mom cleaned the bedroom .Finally ,the room got very tidy and cleam .But we all got very angry ,mom cooked a delicious meal for me !What a fantastic day it was ! My birsthday's plan Next month. I will be 14 years old.On my birthday, I will stay with my family. We will have a lot of things to do. We are going to watch films, play in a park andhave dinner in a restaurant. My parents will buy me a new shirt and I am going to wear it on that day. There will be a new film. My birthday is on Sunday. Many people will go to parks on that day. So, it is going to be fun. But my grandfather will not come, because he will be busy on the day. Anyway, I hope my birthday will come soon. It is going to be a nice day专业英语八级作文篇4Faced with the question whether it is worthwhile to spend a year or two voluntee ??ring in western China, many college students would probably shake their heads, seeing it as a waste of valuable learning time. However,I will give an affirmative answer without hesitation, because this experience can apparently benefit us in many ways.First, it is a great opportunity for us to apply the knowledge we have acquired at college. Different from temporary part-time jobs, a longer volunteer work experience is truly fulfilling and rewarding. As English majors, we can learn to use and teach the language effectively in real classes; as education majors, we can experiment with those textbook theories in helping manage a school or instruct the younger; those who study engineering can take this chance to turn their ideas and skills into running machines, new bridges and broad roads. From this experience,we will better understand our schoolwork and even build up considerable expertise in our chosen fields.Second, we can gain a great sense of satisfaction by making contributions in an underdeveloped region. Right now,the western China is suffering from both the short ??age of resources and that of talents in its course of development. If we can step into the needed roles by simply sacrificing a year or two,we will be able to make some differ??ence to the situation as awhole. Imagine how proud you will be when telling your fami??ly and friends how you have taught the illiterate to read, and how you have helped to change the look of a backward town. Compared with the great sense of pride you feel,a year‘s time is just a small price to pay.Third,we can establish a deep friendship with local people. On the one hand, if you truly love and help the people you work with, they naturally love and help you back. Take a senior I know for example, who served two months as a teacher in a dry northwestern town. During the period of water shortage, both his students and their parents voluntarily kept water for him, sometimes despite their own need. Recalling his days there, he said they were not easy but he could not help missing them. Probably many volunteers would feel the same as him. While we are giving care, support and help,we often get back more including a lasting friendship. Therefore,I will readily sign up to volunteer in the western China despite various challenges I may meet. Think of the differences we can make there and the changes this experience can make to us, why not walk out of the ivory tower and step onto the promising land of our country?专业英语八级作文篇5Although the grand ceremony of Oscar was over this year, the attention and discussion linger in the Chinese movie munity and out. Some insiders hold that following global trends is the only way to develop China’s film industry. Others insist, however, that the Oscars are simply one the many awards that Americans like to crown themselves. Domestic films should maintain their distinct flavors. As a movie fan myself, I think we should strive for it to gain international recognition.Firstly, the Oscars Award is an international recognition in terms of both artistic performance and box office revenue. With live broadcast in 50 languages, it plays a huge role in shaping the global film industry. It is no wonder that so many people around the world pay much attention to it. The reality is that Hollywood movies account for more than 90 percent of global market shares-this has inevitable worldwide impact. Obviously, the Oscars Award has bee something that we can not afford to ignore it.Moreover, we live in a global, multicultural world where different cultures interact. China’s movie industry needs to realize it and sharpen its petitive edge. If Chinese films are to make a global impact, then movie production, distribution and marketing organization need improving. Chinese films should adjust to satisfy the variety of social demands. The introduction of foreign successful formulas and technology is a must for Chinese film industry. It is parochial to think that China can only use its national characteristics to define domestic movies. Conservatism will hinder the progress of film industry. If China does not develop its film industry through embracing innovative multiculturalism, Chinese movies will have little opportunity to gain a share in the international market.Last but not least, the Hollywood films also conform to specifi c cultural demands. Take this year’s Academy Awards as an example, nominated movies include both high-cost productions like The Lord of the Rings and subtle, more moderate budgeted projects like Lost in Translation, these films suggest that Hollywood movies maintain a basic balance in keeping the style of its own and absorbing diverse cultures. Hence, the Chinese filmmakers should spare no efforts to presentoriginal domestic films to foreign viewers. We will be left behind if we stick to the so-called orthodox. For instance, Couching Tiger Hidden Dragon was acted by Chinese actors and through cultural icons, but actually its style and structure of the movie all conform to a Hollywood formula. This partly explains why it appeals to a wider range of audiences from different cultural background. In a word, the Oscars are very important to Chinese filmmakers. Nominations are a kind of approval by international peers of their achievements. As China’s market improves, its movie industry will get stronger and will eventually cash in on the Oscars.专业英语八级作文篇6Although the grand ceremony of Oscar was over this year, the attention and discussion linger in the Chinese movie community and out. It is indeed a tough question for him: what is happiness? Making a huge sum of money, or winning true love, or keeping good health, or what? The picture is fairly thought-provoking,which intends to convey to us this message: Due attention should be paid to the constant topic of human—happiness. We can easily recognize the significance of attitude in terms of happiness. On the one hand, some have suffered a great deal but generally remain happy. Take the victims of Wen Chuan earthquake as an example, they lost their families and even something more precious, but they eventually stepped out of the pain to rebuild their home. On the other hand, people who have a relatively easy and comfortable life, and yet are essentially unhappy. Without a positive attitude or the determination to find the little happiness of life, you are destined to be grievous, no matter what kind of situation you are in.Considering all the points discussed above, it is advisable that we highly value optimism and apply it in our studies and work. We are, therefore, supposed to take a rational attitude. Happiness is an attitude, not a condition, which lies in the unswerving efforts to complete one’s life.专业英语八级作文篇8Ambition is the decision one makes and the resolution with which he carries out that decision. It provides us with the required driving force to accomplish any undertakings in our life. Just as Joseph Epstein, a famous American writer put it,“And as we decide and choose, so are our lives formed.” Indeed, once wemake up our minds to choose to do something, then our life becomes meaningful and specifically orientated. This notion of life, as far as I observe, is closest to truth and does apply to almost all aspects of life. First things first, ambition renders us a sense of mission. No matter what decision you make you have to be responsible for your choice. Your choice procures you a sense of orientation, or more specially a sense of mission. And only a strong mission may enable one to accomplish greatness. Caesar of the ancient Roman E mpire was urged by his ambition “I came, I saw, I conquered.” And became an unrivaled empire builder in the history of Rome. John Milton, stimulated always by his ambition that aimed at writing some “mighty lines” which England would unwillingly forget, had in due time secured his position as the second Shakespeare in the history of English literature. In the second place, ambition can bring one’s potentials to the full. Ambition may well serve as a catalyst activating one’s dormant potentials. Without ambition one’s potentials will remain slumbering like a dormant volcano. A case in point is Ms Zhang Haidi, a Chinese Helen Keller. It was her ambition to be a useful person has turned the almost paralyzed Zhang Haidi into a well-accomplished figure whose achievements would dwarf those of some normal people aim at the sun, though, at worst, they may probably land on the moon. Influential as it is upon us, however, ambition must be channeled in the right direction. If wrongly directed, one’s ambition may bring h avoc on him and others. Hitler, whose ambition was to conquer Europe by whatever evil means, finally turned him into a demon. It was this demon that almost cast Europe into an unfathomable abyss ofanguish and suffering. Another case is Macbeth whose ambition was to become the king of Scotland. However, his ambition was materialized by the murder of King Duncan. Consequently, unbearable guilt and psychological agony drove him to his tragic doom. To sum up, ambition can benefit us tremendously if wisely and correctly channeled, otherwise it may ruin others and ourselves. A poet says: life can be bad; life can be good; life can be dirty; life can be sad,; life can even be painful. In my mind’s eye, a person can make his life beautiful, meaningful and rewarding and stand out as a respectable personage if he is motivated by a well-orientated ambition.专业英语八级作文篇9As economic globalization accelerates, language plays a vital role in cross-boundary communication. An international language like English is inevitably popular among language learners all over the world. And there is a widespread concern whether or not to go abroad for one's English study. To me the answer is undoubtedly a yes, since it provides a chance not only to learn the language, but also to understand the culture.First of all, going to an English-speaking country is a better way to create an ideal language-learning environment. As it is said, when in Rome, do as Romans do. Thus it can be inferred that a better way to learn how Romans behave is to go to Rome and observe their way of life. It is also true with English study. In an English-speaking country, one is likely to be exposed to more chances to communicate with native speakers rather than being confined to book knowledge only. On his stay in London, a student will have a taste of royal English himself, thus it is easier for him to improve his pronunciation and intonation through imitation. Surrounded by native speakers, a language learner willalso find it very helpful in improving other skills like speaking, reading and writing. Moreover, a student going abroad not only enhances their language proficiency but also comes into direct interplay with a new culture, which is an integral part of language study. Some linguists maintain that one cannot fully grasp a language unless he knows about the culture profoundly, for language is only a medium to conduct communication. Thus living with English-speaking people, one can obtain a vivid first-hand understanding of some idioms, slang and the cultural background And this personal experience will be very difficult to achieve-whatever abundant study resources can be accessed to domestically. By chatting with native speakers in daily life, students can gain an insight in the culture.Judging from all the analysis above, we may safely come to such a conclusion that going to an English-speaking country is advantageous for English learners. A study experience abroad is such a practice to double the achievements with half the efforts. Fully utilizing the chance to get a deeper involvement in the exotic culture, students may become real masters of English.。

2024英语专业八级作文
2024英语专业八级作文2024 English Major Band 8 Composition Sample The world is in a constant state of flux, with trends emerging and fading like the tide. These tides of changetouch every aspect of our lives, from the mundane to the momentous. One such trend, gaining significant momentum in recent years, is the growing emphasis on personal development and self-improvement. This phenomenon, while undeniably positive inits intention, demands a nuanced analysis, for its implications are far-reaching and multifaceted. The driving forces behind this surge in self-improvement are manifold. The pervasive nature of social media, with its meticulously curated depictions of success and fulfillment, undoubtedly plays a role. It presents a constant stream of aspirational imagery, subtly fueling a sense of inadequacy and prompting individuals to seek betterment. The competitive job market, demanding ever-evolving skillsets and adaptability, further reinforces this drive. The need to stay ahead of the curve, to continuously acquire new knowledge and honeexisting talents, becomes paramount in a world characterized by rapidtechnological advancements and shifting paradigms. However, this pursuit of self-improvement, while commendable in its essence, is not without its potential pitfalls. The very technology that fuels this trend – social media – can also become a breeding ground for unhealthy comparisons and unrealistic expectations. The curated perfection projected online can breed a sense of inadequacy and self-doubt, pushing individuals into a relentless cycle of striving that leaves them feeling perpetually insufficient. The constant pressure to optimize and upgrade oneself can lead to anxiety and burnout, as individuals struggle to live up to the idealized versions of themselves they encounter online. Furthermore, the commercialization of self-improvement, with its plethora of self-help books, seminars, and online courses, often promotes a one-size-fits-all approach that neglects the inherent complexities of individual journeys. This mass-marketed approach, while potentially beneficial for some, risks oversimplifying personal growth and failing to address the unique challenges and circumstances that shape individual lives. The focus can shift from genuine self-discovery and personal fulfillment to a superficial pursuit of external validation and achievement. Itis crucial, therefore, to approach self-improvement with a discerning eye, embracing its positive potential while remaining mindful of its potential drawbacks. Cultivating a healthy sense of self-awareness, identifying one's genuine aspirations and values, is paramount. It is essential to distinguish between genuine self-improvement driven by intrinsic motivation and a compulsive pursuit of self-optimization fueled by external pressures. The focus should be on personal growth and fulfillment, on acquiring knowledge and skills that enrich one's life and contribute to personal satisfaction, rather than chasing fleeting trends and seeking external validation. Ultimately, the journey of self-improvement is a deeply personal one, unique to each individual. It requires introspection, self-compassion, and a willingness to embrace the imperfections that make us human. While external resources and guidance can provide valuable support, the true journey lies within, in exploring our own unique strengths and weaknesses, identifying our passions, and striving to become the best versions of ourselves, not for the world, but for ourselves. This mindful approach, grounded in self-awareness and driven by intrinsic motivation, will pave the way for genuine personal growth and a more fulfilling life.。

There are many way to advertise and ad s come in different forms. Newspapers and billboards carry advertisements; some products areannounced on TV and radio which have a wide audience. Advertising is a big industry and m any agencies are set up for furnish a variety of services for it.However, advertising is not welcome sometimes. A most irritating thing is to watch advertisem ents before and during films on TV. There are so many of them that they make you forget w hat you are sitting there for. The ironical thing is that advertisements of one type of things ar e often shown one after another so that you are confused as to which product you should cho ose. What’s more, adv ertising is not always truthful. The advertisers exaggerate the benefits of the merchandise they want to sell in order to gain more profits. Thus the consumer falls victi m to such advertising.Although there are disadvantages of ads, we can not forget the advantages and the convenienc es they bring to us. First, by telling us where something is available, they may save us mone y and time. They guide us in finding suitable jobs and other information as well. Secondly, a wide range of activities and institutions receive finanical support through advertising. Without t his support we would have to pay much more for newspaters and sports games. Thirdly, perfe ct advertisements even provide entertainment. A considerable amount of effort goes into their p roduction. So in most cases the photography is truly artistic, the slogans are genuinely witty, a nd the situations are decidely funny.Generally speaking, advertisements have become one of the most authoritative voices speaking to us today. Let us make our life easier by learning to choose proper ads, and be the master of advertisements, not their salve.英语专业八级作文范文四:Living in university dormitories or apartments in the communit y?I think it is better for college students to live on campus during their first two years, and the n move into an apartment for off-campus life, while juniors and seniors need the independence of off-campus life.student’s needs change over four years, so their housing should too.Living on-campus makes it easier to get oriented to the way things are done. You get the wh ole university experience. Plus, you interact more with other students. This includes not only y our roommates, but everyone in your dormitory. The older students in the dormitory can be a big help for the new students. Keeping up with studies in your first year is hard enough. You should not have to worry about finding your way around and figuring out the university bure aucracy.Living in the dormitory also make a student feel more a part of the uniersity community. The re are more opportunities for becoimg involved in university activities and networking with stu dents and university administraction.Living off-campus, however, is a definite advantage for older students. Fingding an apartment, dealing with leases and the landlord’s regulations, cooking meals, and figuring out budgets are all good practice for life after graducation. This kind of independence helps older students gr ow in adulthood.Off-campus housing also gives students a better perspective on what is going on around them. Campus can be like little worlds of their own. There are few children or older people and e veryone is focused on education. Getting to know neighbors who are not students is good for students coming from difference places. It is a chance to find out what other people think and feel.I think a combination of two years on-campus and two years off-campus is a winning combin ation for most students.英语专业八级作文范文五:Providing physical exercises should not be the schools responsibi lity? While physical exerci se is important, I do not believe that it is the school’s responsibility to p rovide physical training for its students. That is something that everyone can take care of on h is or her own. Many students get plenty of physical exercise as part of their daily life or recreation. A stude nt who bicycles ten miles to and from school does not need more exercise. A good physical e ducation program must take a student’s outside activity into consideration. Otherwise, some stu dents will spend valuable class hours repeating physical exercise. If a school offers such activities, it also suggests that students will be graded on them. The ra nge of possible physical activities is great: football, swimming, weight lifting, ballet, ballroom dance, yoga, skiiing, horseback riding, and golf are just a few. However, the number of activit ies that a school could offer is small. Some students could get bad grades in physical educatio n simply because the school could not provide an activity they enjoy or do well. This seems unfair. Research suggests that participation, not excellence, in these activities determines the ps ysical benefits the body will get.Another issue is economic. Many schools do not have the money to provide gry facilities, pla ying fields, and athletic equipment for their student. Other schools are located in cities where t he kind of space just is not available. A few shools would rather keep money for academic p urposes.Schools can certainly encourage physical activity. They can provide space for activities, events, and classes for psysical activities. They can encourage students to plan time away from acade mic studies to get some exercise. However, I think that providing exercise should not be the s chools responsibility.。

2023年英语专业八级阅读材料作文
2023年英语专业八级阅读材料作文全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Favorite Animal - The Playful DolphinHi everyone! My name is Timmy, and I'm going to tell you about my favorite animal. It's none other than the playful dolphin! Dolphins are amazing creatures that live in the ocean. They are also known as the clowns of the sea because they are always happy and love to play.Dolphins are very intelligent. They can learn tricks and even understand human commands. Some dolphins can jump through hoops, spin in the air, and even paint pictures with their fins. Isn't that cool? I wish I could do all those things too!One of the things I love most about dolphins is how friendly they are. They love to swim alongside boats and surf the waves. Sometimes, they even come close to people who are swimming in the ocean. They are so gentle and kind. If I ever meet a dolphin, I would give it a big hug!Did you know that dolphins are excellent communicators too? They use a special language called echolocation to talk to each other. They make clicking sounds and listen to the echoes that bounce back. It's like they have their own secret code! I think it would be super fun to talk to dolphins and learn their language.Another interesting fact about dolphins is that they are great protectors. They often form groups called pods to watch out for each other. If one dolphin is in danger, the others will come to its rescue. They are like superheroes of the sea! I wish I could join their pod and be a superhero too.Dolphins are also very fast swimmers. They can swim up to 20 miles per hour! That's faster than any Olympic swimmer. I would love to race a dolphin one day, but I think it would win every time. Maybe it could give me some swimming lessons instead.Sadly, dolphins face some challenges too. Pollution and fishing nets can harm them and their homes. We need to take care of our oceans and make sure dolphins have a safe and clean environment to live in. We can also support organizations that work to protect dolphins and other marine animals. In conclusion, dolphins are my favorite animals because they are intelligent, friendly, and playful. They can do tricks, communicate with each other, and protect their friends. I hope you enjoyed learning about dolphins as much as I did. If you ever get the chance, go and see these amazing creatures in person. They will surely make you smile!篇2My Super Fun Summer VacationHi! My name is Timmy and I just had the best summer vacation ever. I'm 8 years old and I just started 3rd grade. During summer break, my mom and dad took me and my little sister Amy on a huge adventure. We went to so many awesome places and did a million fun things. I'm going to tell you all about it!It all started at the very beginning of summer in June. My dad surprised us one night at dinner by saying "Who wants to go on a road trip??" Amy and I screamed "ME ME ME!!" Really loud. My mom laughed. She said we were going to drive across the entire country and see tons of cool stuff. I couldn't believe it!The next day, we packed up our red minivan with a billion snacks, games, pillows, and suitcases. We were ready to hit the road! The first place we went was Yellowstone National Park wayout west in Wyoming. They have real life hot springs and geysers there that look like they're from another planet. The most famous one is called Old Faithful and it shoots up a huge spray of super hot water like a geyser every 90 minutes. It was so awesome to see in person! After Yellowstone, we drove to the Black Hills in South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore. That's the super famous monument with the four giant president heads carved into the side of a mountain. We got to go on a trail walk that took us right up close to the faces. Abraham Lincoln's nose was taller than my dad! From there, we spent a few days having fun at some water parks in Wisconsin Dells. They had awesome waterslides, lazy rivers, and wave pools. I went down this one waterslide that was a triple loop called the Triple Thunder. It was so fast and loopy that I felt like I was going to outer space! The next stop was Chicago to see my uncle and cousins. We went up to the top of the super tall Willis Tower and looked out over the entire city from the glass observation boxes. It was a little scary being that high up, but really cool. We also went to the Museum of Science and Industry and saw a real submarine and coal mine exhibit. After Chicago, we headed east toward Washington D.C. We spent a whole day walking around and seeing all the amazing monuments and memorials like the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and the war memorials too. I felt proud to be an American looking at all those important landmarks. Then we drove up to New York City. The first thing we did was go to the top of the Empire State Building. The view from up there looking out over Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty was unbelievable! We also went to Central Park, Times Square, and got to see a Broadway musical. My little sister loved it because there was so much singing and dancing. On our way back home, we stopped at Niagara Falls on the Canadian border. Seeing that huge powerful waterfall crashing down was one of the most incredible things ever. You could feel the mist on your face from miles away. We also went on a boat tour that took us right up next to the bottom of the falls. So much water and so loud! After our Niagara Falls adventure, we finally made the long drive back home to Nebraska. I was a little sad that our big road trip was over, but SO happy that I got to see and do so many fun things. We drove over 6,000 miles and visited 14 different states! My favorite parts were definitely Yellowstone, the Wisconsin Dells waterparks, and Niagara Falls. Now I'm back in school and all my friends are super jealous that I got to go on such an epic trip. I have so many amazing memories and can't wait to go on another crazy road trip soon. Maybe next time we'll head out west to the Grand Canyon or go down south somewhere fun. Who knows what adventures await? This was truly the best summer vacation ever!篇3My Big Adventures in the Third GradeHi there! My name is Billy and I'm a third grader at Oakwood Elementary School. This year has been filled with SO many exciting adventures, I can hardly keep track! I wanted to tell you all about the crazy things that have happened to me and my friends. It all started on the very first day of school. I was feeling a little nervous, like I do every year. Making new friends can be scary! But I knew I'd see a bunch of my buddies from last year too. When I got to my classroom, I saw a giant terrarium set up in the corner. Our teacher, Mrs. Campbell, told us we'd be hatchingand raising chicks as our semester-long science project! How cool is that?A few weeks later, the eggs arrived and we watched them every day. We had to keep the incubator at just the right temperature and humidity levels. It was hard work but we were determined to be good egg parents. Finally, one morning we heard the first tiny peeps coming from inside the eggs. Over the next couple days, one by one, the baby chicks poked their way out of their shells. They were the cutest, fluffiest little things!Taking care of the chicks was a huge responsibility. We had to make sure they stayed warm, give them food and water, and clean out their bedding every day. It was a lot of work but we took turns so it wasn't too hard. My favorite part was getting to hold and pet the chicks. They were so soft and snuggly! After a couple months, the chicks had grown too big for the classroom. It was time for them to go live at a local farm run by Mrs. Campbell's friend. We threw the chicks a going away party and got to name each one before they left. I named my favorite Darren the Dancing Chicken because he was always bopping around. I was sad to see him go but happy he'd have a big open space to run around. That wasn't the only excitement we had in third grade though! In November, we went on a field trip to the science museum downtown. They had this cool exhibit all about the human body. We got to walk through a giant model of the digestive system and see how food travels from your mouth to your intestines. It was pretty gross but fascinating at the same time!My favorite part was the bubble exhibit where we got to go inside a massive soap bubble. They had this special solution that could make bubbles bigger than a person! We all took turns slowly inching our way into the giant wobbling sphere. It felt so weird being totally surrounded by the thin bubble membrane. Like you were in a sparkly force field or something! When we exhaled too hard though, the whole thing would pop and we'd come tumbling out covered in soapy water. We were laughing so hard our stomachs hurt.In the spring, our big annual Readathon contest came up. The whole school competed to see who could read the most books over a month. I'm a total bookworm so I was really excited. My parents and I went to the library every weekend to stock up. I read any book I could get my hands on - fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, you name it! I read before school, after school, atrecess, in the bathtub. My parents could hardly get me to put the books down.At the end of the month, they tallied up everyone's totals. I was shocked when they announced that I had read the most books out of anyone in the entire school - 87 books! They called me up on stage at the assembly and I got a big trophy, a gift card to the bookstore, and a pizza party for my whole class. My parents were beaming with pride. All that reading had really paid off!Now summer is finally here and I've got two whole months off before fourth grade starts up again. I can't wait to head to the community pool, have sleepovers with my friends, and read tons of books for fun without tests or homework. This was definitely one of the most exciting, craziest years I've ever had. Between the chicks, the field trips, the contests and more, I have enough memories to last a lifetime! Who knows what adventures fourth grade will bring?篇4My Super Awesome Year in 4th GradeHi there! My name is Timmy and I just finished the 4th grade. Let me tell you all about the totally awesome year I had!It started off kind of scary because I was going into a new grade with a new teacher and new kids in my class. But my mom told me not to worry and that it would be a great adventure. She was right! On the very first day, I met my teacher Mrs. Johnson. She seemed really nice but also kind of strict. She had pretty red hair and always dressed up in these cool dresses with bright patterns. Right away she taught us the class rules like raising our hand to speak, being nice to everyone, and doing our homework every night. I could tell she really meant business! There were 22篇5The Reading Passage Was Sooooo Long! You'll never believe how long the reading passage was on the big English test I took last week! It was literally like a hundred pages long. Okay, maybe not that much, but it seriously felt like I was reading a giant book instead of just one passage. The passage was all about the history of ice cream and how it was invented and stuff. At first, I thought "Cool, ice cream! This will be fun to learn about." But then I started reading and it wasjust fact after fact after fact. Like there were entire paragraphs on what temperature salt water freezes at and the names of all the different early ice cream makers from wayyyy back in the 1500s. Borrrring!I had to read super slowly and carefully because there were so many hard vocabulary words I'd never heard before. What even is a "lactarian"? Or a "moldant"? I'm just a kid, why did they have to use such confusing language? The sentences were really long and twisty too, with tons of commas and semicolons all over the place. Maybe they think longer sentences sound fancier or something.About halfway through, my eyes started getting tired from squinting so hard trying to understand it all. And my hand was cramping up from writing so many notes in the margins about the important details. I just couldn't wait for it to be over already! When I finally got to the end, I felt like doing a little happy dance. But then I remembered there were going to be comprehension questions about it that I had to answer. No fair! I had put so much effort into just reading and understanding the stupid thing. The questions were really hard too. They asked me to make inferences about things the passage didn't explicitly state, as wellas analyze the author's tone and perspective. Hello, did they forget I'm just a 10-year-old kid? How am I supposed to do all that complicated analysis? It was way too challenging. At least there were a few vocabulary questions about words from the passage. Those were the only ones I felt pretty confident about. For the rest, I pretty much had to guess a lot based on the tiny details I could grasp from chingding it so slowly and carefully. In the end, I don't think I did too well on that reading comprehension section, which is too bad because I'm usually a really good reader. I just get distracted easily, especially when the material is dry and full of jargon like that ice cream history passage was. Fingers crossed the other sections of the test weren't quite so brutal! From now on, whenever I have to read something that yearnish, I'm going to treat myself to a big bowl of ice cream first. Maybe that will help me stay focused and energized to power through it. Though to be honest, after learning about all the wacky ingredients they used to put in ice cream back in the olden days, I'm not sure I'll ever want to eat it again! Some of that stuff sounded pretty disgusting...Well, there you have it - the long and tiring struggle of getting through that crazy reading passage. Hopefully next year's version isn't quite so overload. They really need to take it easy on us poor kids! A passage about video games or puppies would be way more interesting. Just a thought for the test makers...if you're reading this!篇6My Favorite Reading Materials for the Big English TestHi there! My name is Lily and I'm a 4th grader. I just took the big English test last month called the 2023 English Proficiency Test Level 8. Whew, that was really hard! There was a whole section just on reading comprehension with all sorts of passages we had to read and answer questions about.I'm going to tell you about some of my favorite reading materials I used to get ready for that part of the test. Maybe it can help some of you guys prepare too if you have to take it someday. Get ready though, because some of these readings were pretty crazy! One type of passage I had to practice a lot with was scientific articles and research papers. Can you believe a 9-year-old like me had to read bougie stuff like that? It was so weird reading allthese big words I'd never heard of before about experiments and lab studies and research methods. My mom is a scientist though, so she helped me a bunch with understanding what all the fancy vocabulary meant.Like there was this one paper I had to read that was all about the mating habits of dimerized polysynthetic enzymes or something? I'm not even kidding! It had all these mind-numbing details about molecular biology processes and biochemical pathways. I must have read that same paper like 20 times before I could understand even half of what it was talking about. Definitely one of the harder readings I prepped with for sure.Another type of passage that came up a couple times were super dense philosophical essays from important thinkers. Have you ever tried reading Immanuel Kant as a 4th grader? Not fun at all! His thoughts on metaphysics and the limits of pure reason just went completely over my head at first. I had to have my dad's friend who is a professor sit down and explain that stuff to me very slowly using small words. Then there were all the legal documents and court case rulings I had to slog through. I'm talking about real legal jargon here with all the "herein aftermentioned" and "notwithstandings" thrownaround everywhere. Ugh, I would getsuch headaches after an hour or two reading through those. A bunch were about constitutional law and civil rights issues too, which meant having to learn about concepts like due process and equal protection under the law. Pretty heavy stuff for a little kid if you ask me!Some of the most out-there readings I had to do were analysis of ancient scriptures and texts though. We're talking literally translating and dissecting the Upanishads, the Tao Te Ching, the Kabbalah, you name it. I had no idea what any of it meant at first and my brain would be completely fried after 30 minutes of trying to understand the symbolic mystic language.I had to read a passage from the Buddhist scripture the Heart Sutra that went something like "Form is emptiness, emptiness is form. Form is not other than emptiness, emptiness is not other than form." Say what?? I must have had my grandpa who is really into Eastern philosophy sit me down and draw diagrams explaining that chunk about 100 times before a lightbulb went off. Then of course there were your standard literature pickings like Shakespeare's plays, ancient Greek epics, complex novels analyzing the human condition, you know the deal. I loved reading some of those classic stories for sure, but man couldthey get wordy and meandering sometimes! I'd have to keep a dictionary nearby constantly to look up antiquated vocabulary words.I remember for Moby Dick alone, I had lists upon lists of whaling jargon terms to memorize like "fiddleneck" and "frapped" just so I could decipher a single sentence. And don't even get me started on trying to understand all the symbolism and deeper metaphorical meanings writers like to cram into those things. I'd lie awake at night pondering lines like "and the great shrouded masses of the wilderness seemed to slip behind that appalling battlefront and gather in yet more liquidly and dreadfully" like...what?Honestly, after all that intense reading practice, I was kind of relieved when I got to the actual test day and the passages were comparatively simple things like your basic economics journal articles, obscure Chicago school literary criticism papers, and excerpts from 17th century political philosophy treatises. Phew, peace of cake!Well, maybe not a piece of cake exactly since it was still one of the biggest challenges I've ever faced. But I have to say, doing all that reading prep with such a variety of mentally-taxingmaterial beforehand definitely whipped me into shape. Bring on the 2024 English Test Level 9, I'll be ready!Anyway, that's just a little peek into the wild ride of readings I did to get ready for that brutal test. If any of you other kids have to take it soon too, just trust me that lots and lots of practice with all those books and papers will be your savior. Never stop reading! Okay, time for my 15 minute reading break before I hit the Russian literary novels. Laters!。

专业八级英语作文篇1Along with the advance of science and technology, electronic products, such as computer, MP3,and cell phone and so on. Among them, cell phone exerts a big influence on our daily life.It has dramatically changed our way of communication and socializing. As to its virtues and defects about cell phone, peoples opinion are widely varied.Recently, a professor named Baron conducted a survey among 2000 college students and consulted their attitudes toward cell phone. Conclusion was reached that the biggest advantage of cell phone is that it can connect the users with other people through short message, which is very convenient compared with traditional letter writing and also very cheap with the telephone call taking into consideration. As every coin has two sides, the very virtue of the cell phone is also the biggest disadvantage, which makes other people can easily fine them with a call even a message.Cell phone are gradually intruding upon the private space of people. For the most part, I agree with professor Baron s conclusion. Let me first illustrate its virtues. It indeed save much time and efforts when we want to find a helping hand.It also shortens the distance between people,no matter how far two people are, they can easily get in touch with each other through a call and telleach other about what funny or sad things they come upon. The most obvious advantage of short message is that it makes people familiar and intimate. Sometimes ,people feel awkward to say something to others through face to face communication or making a phone call, the short message come to rescue, all the discomfort will be diminished for the messages covering the emotional effect. Messages are very popular and prevailing when a festival or delightful event comes. People can pass their blessing and wished with decent to others, even they are just nodding acquaintances. For its defects, it is really annoying. Scan messages and harassing calls have gained access to us. We have to take time and energy to tackle these problems. And whenever we want to have a break or do some interesting things, we would be interrupted by phone calls or messages. Therefore, some people put forward their solutions that we could turn off the phone when we deem it is necessary or change the situation model of the phone to unreachable. These solutions really bring consolation to us, but they are very hard to apply. Suppose you are working for a company and yearning for promotion and increase in wages, you are hardly dare to do those things in fear a loss of big opportunity. Even if you are just an ordinary full time housewife, you are also incapable of doing that, simply because you have a large family to take care. Thus a new term was coined recently- cell phone syndrome, which refers to people can not live without cell phone. Some people even suffer from it that they have to force themselves to get away from cell phones.Though a lot of complaints about cell phone has emerged, its advantages, from my point of view, are far outweigh its disadvantages. Just as a saying goes that there is no perfect manon earth,so does cell phone. Thanks to cell phone, we are launch into a more efficient information change age. Every respect of our life are greatly benefited form it and it will uncertainly bring us to a brighter future.专业八级英语作文篇2Faced with the question whether it is worthwhile to spend a year or two voluntee ??ring in western China, many college students would probably shake their heads, seeing it as a waste of valuable learning time. If we can step into the needed roles by simply sacrificing a year or two,we will be able to make some differ??ence to the situation as a whole. Imagine how proud you will be when telling your fami??ly and friends how you have taught the illiterate to read, andhow you have helped to change the look of a backward town. Think of the differences we can make there and the changes this experience can make to us, why not walk out of the ivory tower and step onto the promising land of our country?专业八级英语作文篇3Although the grand ceremony of Oscar was over this year, the attention and discussion linger in the Chinese movie community and out. Withlive broadcast in 50 languages, it plays a huge role in shaping the global film industry. It is no wonder that so many people around the world pay much attention to it. The reality is that Hollywood movies account for more than 90 percent of global market shares-this has inevitable worldwide impact. Obviously, the Oscars Award has become something that we can not afford to ignore it.Moreover, we live in a global, multicultural world where different cultures interact. China’s movie industry needs to realize it and sharpen its competitive edge. If China does not develop its film industry through embracing innovative multiculturalism, Chinese movies will have little opportunity to gain a share in the international market.Last but not least, the Hollywood films also conform to specific cultural demands. Hence, the Chinese filmmakers should spare no efforts to present original domestic films to foreign viewers. We will be left behind if we stick to the so-called orthodox. For instance, Couching TigerHidden Dragon was acted by Chinese actors and through cultural icons, but actually its style and structure of the movie all conform to a Hollywood formula. This partly explains why it appeals to a wider range of audiences from different cultural background. In a word, the Oscars are very important to Chinese filmmakers. Nominations are a kind of approval by international peers of their achievements. As C hina’s market improves, its movie industry will get stronger and will eventually cash in on the Oscars.专业八级英语作文篇4As is revealed in the cartoon, a boy is contemplating(认为) the true meaning of happiness. It is indeed a tough question for him: what is happiness? Making a huge sum of money, or winning true love, or keeping good health, or what? The picture is fairly thought-provoking, which intends to convey to us this message: Due attention should be paid to the constant topic of human—happiness. We are, therefore, supposed to take a rational attitude.Happiness is an attitude, not a condition, which lies in the unswerving efforts to complete one’s life.专业八级英语作文篇5Ambition is the decision one makes and the resolution with which he carries out that decision. It provides us with the required driving force to accomplish any undertakings in our life. Just as Joseph Epstein, a famous American writer put it,“And as we decide and choose, so are our lives formed.” Indeed, once we make up our minds to choose to do something, then our life becomes meaningful and specifically orientated. Caesar of the ancient Roman Empire was urged by his ambition “I came, I sa w, I conquered.” And became an unrivaled empire builder in the history of Rome. It was her ambition to be a useful person has turned the almost paralyzed Zhang Haidi into a well-accomplished figure whoseachievements would dwarf those of some normal people aim at the sun, though, at worst, they may probably land on the moon. Influential as it is upon us, however, ambition must be channeled in the right direction. If wrongly directed, one’s ambition may bring havoc on him and others. Hitler, whose ambition was to conquer Europe by whatever evil means, finally turned him into a demon. It was this demon that almost cast Europe into an unfathomable abyss of anguish and suffering. In my mind’s eye, a person can make his life beautiful, meaningful and rewarding and stand out as a respectable personage if he is motivated by a well-orientated ambition.【专业八级英语作文范文(精选5篇)】。
