Jane Eyre's plots were based on the original life of Charlotte herself, therefore creating a realistic story. The three sisters' family was poor, and their mother passed away by lung cancer when her children were still very young, and their father had to take the job of raising the whole family. The three sisters were reinforced to be educated in a charity school. Due to the unbearable state of the school, Charlotte and Emily's two sisters died, thus giving a grief pain to the sisters. To survive, three sisters went out to take part in tutors one by one, however none of them like the job, especially Charlotte. Still, the experience has given her the basics of planning the story of Jane Eyre. Finally, she gained people's attention by publishing Jane Eyre. It was a miracle. She achieved the public's attention soon the book was pressed, and she amazingly only took one year to finish it.The book used the first person method of writing to depict Jane Eyre. The story started with a direct story about Jane being bullied by his older brother, John. The author probably wanted to give the readers a deep impression about the mishaps suffered by Jane in her youth. Then, Mr. Brocklehurst appeared, and took Jane to Lowood School. She grew up in that school, but she never liked the school of it's rigid lifestyle and a hard environment. Evidently, the mail she she sent out to look for a job has an answer. She was being asked to be a tutor in a family. This led to a turning point in her life. She met many people in the family. Like Mrs. Fairfax, Adele, the crazy woman, and most important of all, Mr. Rochester. Mr. Rochester's words and is temper is hard to guess, and he often travels around the world. But, when Mr. Rochester went back and met Jane Eyre, he did not leave again for a month. After a period of time, Mr. Rochester and Jane Eyre began to fall in love with each other, and they married. However, in the marriage, a stranger broke the progression and asserted that Mr. Rochester already had a wife and they were not divorced. According to the laws at thattime, people are not allowed to remarry if they did not break apart with his ex-wife. Indeed, the ex-wife of Mr. Rochester was the crazy woman. In fact, the real thing behind it was that Mr. Rochester was married many years ago, but he soon found out that his wife was a maniac. He felt completely distressed, and Jane Eyre was his hope. Jane felt aghast, and she left Mr. Rochester alone. She went out to other places, and ran out of food and water. She was picked up by people, and destiny brought the Jane's brothers and sisters together! Finally, she recalled her once dearest person, but it was already too late. What happened was that right after the departure of Jane, the crazy woman burned down the whole citadel and she jumped off from the roof. Mr. Rochester survived in the disaster, but his body was burnt from head to foot. Though it was truly very sad, a book can always achieve its happy ending. Jane found Mr. Rochester at last, and they shall never be apart anymore.Jane Eyre is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. After I close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, a marvelous figure, has left me so much to recall and to think: I remember her pursuit of justice. It’s like a companion with the goodness. But still, a virtuous person should promote the goodness on one side and must check the badness on the other side.I remember her self-respect and the clear situation on equality. In her opinion, everyone is the same at the God’s feet. Though there are differences in status, in property and also in appearance, but all the human being are equal in personality. I also remember her striving for life, her toughness and her confidence…。

A Book Report of Jane EyreJane Eyre is a classical romance novel by Charlotte Bronte which was published in 1847. This book is written mostly according to the author's own experience---in reality , less fiction than autobiography! The theme of this book is human value is equal to dignity of human personality add love.In this book the author create a character called Jane Eyre. Although she is small, pain, poor and also abandoned by her relatives, she is a girl with strong and pour soul and sprit. When she is left to an orphanage she has a hard time. Even though she is kept under the harrow, she steels her will. Then she is engaged as a tutor. At first life is very quiet with Jane teaching a young French girl Adele, and spending time with the old housekeeper. But everything changes when the owner of the manor Edward Rochester arrives. Jane and Edward gradually become acquaint with and grow to respect each other and then fall in love with each other. Of course at last they get married but you can image how rough road they have walk to their life road.I like Jane, she is a girl without beautiful appearance, short stature, poor family, but has a lofty heart. I still remember her words:"Am I a machine without feelings? Do you think that because I am poor, obscure, plain and little that I am soulless and heartless? I have asmuch soul as you and full as much heart. And if God had blessed me with beauty and wealth I could make it as hard for you to leave me as it is for men to leave you. I'm not speaking to you through mortal flesh. It is my spirit as if we'd passed though the grave and stood at God's feet, equal as we are."Yes, equal we are! We are all the same, please believe that for everything there is a season, you have your rights to enjoy your life and seek your happiness. From these sentences you can see what qualities does Jane have, and these classical word also courage hundreds or thousands people to struggle for their lives. One point I must to mention Jane also has rebellious spirit. She lays aside the old practices and prejudices, in her mind her love is pour without money or position. At the end of the book the fire cripples Edward for life but Jane does not leave him, when she hears this news she goes to see him and decide to look after him without hesitation. She gives up everything for love. The author writes this book to stress the equal rights that a person can not make fish of one and flesh of the other. At the same time she surely urges us to put away our passé prejudices and treat boys and girls equally. At last I want to say when I read the book Jane Eyre it just like a glass of cold drinking water which can sublimate my spirit. So thebook will encourage me study hard in pursuit of happy life.。

简爱读书报告英文版6篇A Book Report of Jane EyreJane Eyre is a classic romance novel by Charlotte Bront? which was published in 1847 by Smith, Elder & Company, London, and is one of the most famous British novels of all time. Charlotte Bront? first published the book as Jane Eyre: An Autobiography under the pseudonym Currer Bell, and it was an instant success, earning the praise of many reviewers, including William Makepeace Thackeray, to whom Charlotte Bront? dedicated her secondedition. The story is that of a governess, Jane Eyre. Despite her plainness, she captures the heart of her enigmatic employer, Edward Rochester, but soon discovers he has a secret that could jeopardize any hope of happinessbetween them .Published in 1847, Jane Eyre brought almost instant fame to its obscure author, the daughter of a clergyman in a small mill town in northern England. On the surface, the novel embodies stock situations of the Gothic novel genre such as mystery, horror, and the classic medieval castle setting; many of the incidentsborder on (and cross over into) melodrama. The story of the young heroine is also in many ways conventional —the rise of a poor orphan girl against overwhelming odds, whose love and determinationeventually redeem a tormented hero. Yet if this all there were to Jane Eyre, the novel would soon have been forgotten. In writing Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte did not write a mere romantic potboiler. Her book has serious things to say about a number of important subjects: the relations between men and women, women's equality, the treatment of children and of women, religious faith andreligious hypocrisy (and the difference between the two), the realization of selfhood, and the nature of true love. But again, if its concerns were only topical, it would not have outlived the time in which it was written. The book is not a tract any more than it is a potboiler. It is a work of fiction with memorable characters and vivid scenes, written in a compelling prose style. In appealing to both the head and the heart, Jane Eyre triumphs over its flaws and remains a classic of nineteenth-century Englishliterature and one of the most popular of all English novels.Jane Eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. After we close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, a marvelous figure, has left us so much to recall and to think: We remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past.We remember her pursuit of justice. It’s like a companion with the goodness. But still, a virtuous person should promote the goodness on one side and must check the badness on the other side.We remember her self-respect and the clear situation on equality. In her opinion, everyone is the same at the God’s feet. Though there are differences in status、in property and also in appearance, but all the human being are equal in personality. We also remember her striving for life, her toughness and her confidence…When we think of this girl, what she gave us was not a pretty face or atranscendent temperament that make us admire deeply, but a huge charm of her personality.Actually, she wasn’t pretty, and of course, the ordinary appearance didn’t make others feel good of her, even her own aunt felt disgusted with it. And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease, so when Miss Ingram met Jane Eyre, she seemed quite contemptuous, for that she was obviously much more prettier than ‘the plain and ugly governess’. But as the little governess had said: ‘Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, andThis is the idea of equality in Jane Eyre’s mind. God hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of equality and self-respect impress us so much and let us feel the power inside her body.In my mind, though a person’s beauty on the face can make others once feel that one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind isn’t the same beautiful as the appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, whenothers find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it’s not true, they will like the person no more. For a long time, only a person’s great virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can be called as an everlasting beauty just as Kahill Gibran has said, that Beauty is a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted’. I can feel that how beauty really is, as we are all fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whethera man is of nobleness or humbleness, but fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but as there are great differences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is noble or ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not. Her story makes us thinking about life and we learn much from her experience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real beauty.Feelings of Reading JANE EYRE Useful expression1) ()If all the world hated you, and believed you wicked, while your own conscience approved you, and absolved you from guilt, you would not be without friends.2) ()Prejudices, it is well known, as most difficult to eradicate from the heart whose soil has never been loosened or fertilized by education: they grow there, firm as weeds among stones.3) ()Life appears to me too short to be spent in nursing animosity or registering wrongs. The type of materials in this book is written in English, and the topic area is literature. I spent reading the book for 2 months. In the world history of literature, some many classical famous works are going to be immortal, but Jane Eyre deeply enters people's soul deeply, it by irresistible intrinsic deep has attracted the tens of thousands of readers deeply, has affected people's inner world, is in the world history of literature the eternal classics. When Jane Eyre was a baby, her parents died. So she had to live with her uncle and his family. Unfortunately, her uncle also went away several years later. Then Jane was sent to the Logwood, which was a charity school andbecame a teacher there when she grown up. Later she left it to become a governess of Adela Varens, the ward of Mr. Edward Rochester, a Thornfield Manor. Later, Jane and Mr. Rochester fell in love with each other, and they decided to get married. But Mr. Rochester was revealed that he had a wife during the wedding ceremony. So Jane left Thornfield and Mr. Rochester. Otherwise Mr. Rochester’s wife was crazy. One day, she made a fire. Mr. Rochester tried his best to save his wife, but failed and his eyes were burnt and he became blind. The terrible news came to Jane, she came back to Mr. Rochester hurriedly. Jane told Mr. Rochester that she still loved him a lot, and tried her best to cheer him up. Finally, they got married, and had a lovely baby. This book enthralled me with the charm of language, and brought home to me the great wealth of English words and phrases. But this book is too difficult to me, and I had to look up a number of words. If there are explains of some difficult words, I think it will be much better. The figure of Jane Eyre had the greatest impact on me. After I close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, a marvelousfigure, has left us so much to recall and to think: I remember her goodness, her pursuit of justice, her self-respect and the clear situation on equality, her striving for life, her toughness and her confidence…The writing of the book is effective, beautiful and even fascinating. The author is skillful in telling stories.I can easily find out the characters of these dramatis personages. Behind the wonderful story, the author expressed herstrong dissatisfactions to the society then. The author thinks that people should be good educated, and everyone is equal, no matter male or female. The new facts that I hadn’t learn before is goodness. I remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past. To me, I think that I can hardly forgive those people who have hurt me deeply. May be it is good enough that not to do some revenge. As a result of reading this book, her story makes me thinking about life and I learn much from her experience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real. I can feel that how beautyreally is, as we are all fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but as there are great differences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is noble or ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not. In essence, Bronte's novel became a direct assault on Victorian morality. Controversy based in its realistic exposure of thoughts once considered improper for a lady of the 19th century. Emotions any respectable girl would repress. Women at this time were not to feel passion, nor were they considered sexual beings. To conceive the thought of women expressing rage and blatantly retaliating against authority was defiance against the traditional role of women. Jane Eyre sent controversy through the literary community. For not only was it written by a woman but marked the first use of realistic characters. Jane's complexity lied in her being neither holy good or evil. She was poor and plain in a time when society considered "an ugly woman a blot on the face of creation." It challenged Victorian classstructure in a strictly hierarchal society. A relationship between a lowly governess and a wealthy nobleman was simply unheard of. Bronte drew criticism for her attack on the aristocracy who she deemed as hypocritical "showy but ... not genuine." She assaulted individual's already established morals by presenting a plausible case for bigamy.Jane Eyre Dolor XX2136063 Fall semester XXAugust 20, XXBook report 2A Struggling WomanJane Eyre is a first-person narrative of the title character. Written by British writer Charlotte Bronte , it is a love story between Jane Eyre and Edward Fairfax Rochester. This novel includes 5 parts: Jane's childhood at Gateshead; her education at Lowood School; as the governess at hornfield Hall, where she falls in love with Edward Rochester; her time with the Rivers family and the finale with her reunion with and marriage to her beloved Rochester.Jane Eyre is the heroine of the novel and the main character. She is pure, brave, strong self-esteem andardor. What`s more, the spirit of rebelling is her important trait. When she was a baby, her parents died and she became an orphan. She was sent to her aunt and was abused by her aunt and her cousins. She then was sent to Lowood School, where she was oppressed and abused, but her nature led him to rebel.Edward Fairfax Rochester is master of Thornfield Manor. He is heavyhearted and his chapter is changeable. Also, his manner to Jane is changeable. Form appearance, he is tall, strong man. There were many parties in Thornfield Manor when Edward came back. Jane was treated bad at one party and retreated from the party. At that time, Jane found herself had already fallen in love with Edward and Edward loved her, too. On the ceremony, Jane got known that he had a wife and left grieved. When she came back to Thornfield Manor, she found it had become ruins and Edward was disabled. And she married him.The author wants to reveal that the value of a man is equal to dignity plus love. At that time, about 19th century, people ignored love in order to pursue money and few people could abandon money for love. Jane isa woman who can not bear oppression and brave enough to pursue love. She is a representative of low class.Book Review of Jane EyreBackground of Jane EyreJane Eyre is the masterpiece of Charlotte Bronte, an English woman author in 19th century. The works possess romanticism and realism. It is also thought that this book is author’s autobiography.Introduction of Jane EyreJane was a pure and thinkable woman, who lived in substrata of society and struck with life. But she was fractious and the sprite of perusing happiness. The works sing the love respecting each other and break away from conman customs and preoccupation. The most successful of this book is to figure a female image who dared to gainst and try for liberte and egalite.Characteristics of charactersJane Eyre was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag. She had a terrible childhood but it’s not affected her future because she is poor but aspiring, small in bodybut huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl.Jane was also a thinkable woman in her love, she thought love is equal, free and respecting, so she gain a happy ending with beautiful personality. My thoughts of Jane EyreJane owns goodness for her lover, Rochester, who lost arms and eyes, and also for someone who had hurt her.Jane owns pursuit for justice; it helps her to promote goodness on one side and check the badness on the other side.Jane owns self-respect and clear situation on equality. Also her life experience is hardships, but she never underrates herself. She thinks everyone is the same. She has the right to gain happiness through hardworking.Jane owns toughness, confidence and striving for life……She is not beautiful and wealthy and very normal in conman’s mind. But in my opinion, the beauty on the face is not important than in the heart because the beauty of heart could live forever but not the beautyof face. So, to me or to all girls in the world, we needn’t inferiority and complaint with ourselves if we don’t have beauty and wealth because the true happiness is not gained by the tow things. Actually, we should learn to be a person who is like Jane, how fearless woman.Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte(Book Report)I received a full English of Jane Eyre from my big brother when I entered the collage. It gave me a deeply influence after I reading we all know,Jane Eyre was Charlotte Bronte’s representative works. It was also a milestoneworks in English was published in 1847, then it arouse a blow to English it had caused some critics, it also received popularity among the public. Jane Eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. After we close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre,a marvelous figure, has left us so much to recall and to think: We remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past.Jane Eyre told us the story that Jane accepts a governess position at a manor called Thornfield which employer is a dark, impassioned man named Rochester after she spends eight more years at Lowood. Jane found herself falling in love with him. On the wedding day , Jane found that Rochester already had a wife, Bertha . Then Jane left Thornfield food and money, Jane was forced to sleep outdoors and beg for food. At last, three kind-hearted people took her in. Their names are Mary, Diana, and St. John, and then Jane quickly became friends with them. One day a news said that her uncle, John Eyre, has died and left her a large property. Then she found that her uncle was also their immediately decides to share her property with her three new John decided to travel to India, and he asked Jane as his wife. She refused to marry her cousin because she did not love him at all. Finally she found the man who she really loved so much was immediately went back to Thornfield and found that it had been burned to the ground by his mad wife. Rochester saved the servants but lost his eyesight and one of his Ferndean,Rochester and Jane finally got married. At the end of the story, Rochester regained sight in one eye and was able to behold their first son at his they lived a happy life forever. After reading the novel, the image in the story may catch our attention. For instance, the fire image appeared in the story for dozens of times in different no matter where it was put, it had symbolic meanings in some chapters. It was the symbol of warmth and happiness, while in other place it was thesymbol of humanity and friendship, sometimes it even represented destructive power. In the story, the fire image impressed us a lot while reading it, fire plays an important role in the frame of the novel. Jane Eyre who was a strongwilled woman, tried her best to fight for her own happiness and love as well as freedom, for example “Now,let me leave you an instant to make a good fire?”sowe can see that Rochester saw the magic power of “fire” in love.Jane Eyre behaved strong-minded enough to her love and brave enough to seek her own hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave hera kind mind and a thinking idea of equality and self-respect impress us so much and let us feel the power inside her body.At last,to be frank, Jane’s ideal life is the reflection of the Charlotte Bronte’s thoughts. Maybe we can say that Charlotte uses this great novels to express her feelings on the contemporary story makes us thinking about life and we learn much from her experience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real beauty.Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte(Book Report)Jane Eyre ranks as one of the greatest and most perennially popular works of English fiction. Although the poor but plucky heroine is outwardly of plain appearance, she possesses an indomitable spirit, a sharp wit and great courage. She is forced to battle against the exigencies of a cruel guardian, a harsh employer and a rigid social order. All of which circumscribe her life and position when she becomes governess to the daughter of the mysterious, sardonic and attractive Mr Rochester. However, there is great kindness and warmth in this epic love story, which is set against the magnificent backdrop of the Yorkshire moors. This book, Jane Eyre, tell us that Jane?s life is filled with pains and suffering until the time of youth, but lastly she herself wins truly love. Jane?s father is a poor reverend. Unfortunately, her parents passed away when she was just a very young girl. Jane is sent to her aunt?s home, at the hands of her rich aunt and cousins, she suffers a childhood with no respect and dignity, as “a position even lower than the servants”is described in the book. Later, Jane is sent to Lowood School to receive education. Although her life was even harder and more miserable, she found love and care from Helen Burns and Miss Temple. Jane, as an orphan, suffered all kinds of obloquy and ignominy, and then she turn into a girl of self-help, self-respect and self-assurance. After she graduated, she stays on the school as a teacher, and only two years she leaves the school, due to its solitude and apartness, and then finds a work as a private governess in Thornfield. Jane becomes free and independent, just as spring has comeinto her life. Jane not only finds respect, love, friends and money, but also develops a strong relationship with the cold and bad-tempered master, Mr. Rochester. They fell in love with each other. Like a flower, their love starts to bloom. Shortly, they decide to get married. On the day of the wedding, Jane finds out that Mr. Rochester has a wife, a mad woman, living on the top of the tower, who makes weird laughter at night. She decides to leave him although he desperately begs her to stay.。
The book report of Jane Eyer
The book report of Jane EyerThis is a story about a special and unreserved woman who has been exposed to a hostile environment but continuously and fearlessly struggling for her ideal life. The story can be interpreted as a symbol of the independent spirit. It seems to me that many readers’English reading experience starts with Jane Eyer.I am of no exception. As we refer to the movie “Jane Eyer”, it is not surprising to find some differences because of its being filmized and retold in a new way, but the spirit of the novel remains----to be an independent person, both physically and mentally.Jane Eyer was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag. Since Jane’s education in Lowwood Orphanage began, she didn’t get what she had been expecting——simply being regarded as a common person, just the same as any other girl around. The suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach Jane to be persevering and prize dignity over anything else.As a reward of revolting the ruthless oppression, Jane got a chance to be a tutor in Thornfield Garden. There she made the acquaintance of lovely Adele and that garden’s owner, Rochester, a man with warm heart despite a cold face outside. Jane expected to change the life from then on, but fate had decided otherwise: After Jane and Rochester fell in love with each other and got down to get marry, she unfortunately came to know in fact Rochester had got a legal wife, who seemed to be the shadow following Rochester and led to his moodiness all the time ----Rochester was also a despairing person in need of salvation. Jane did want to give him a hand, however, shemade up her mind to leave, because she didn’t want to betray her own principles, because she was Jane Eyer. The film has finally got a symbolist end: Jane inherited a large number of legacies and finally returned. After finding Rochester’s misfortune brought by his original mad wife, Jane chose to stay with him forever.I don’t know what others feel, but frankly speaking, I would rather regard the section that Jane began her teaching job in Thornfield as the film’s end----especially when I heard Jane’s words “Never in my life have I been awaken so happily.”For one thing, this ideal and brand-new beginning of life was what Jane had been imagining for long as a suffering person; for another, this should be what the audiences with my views hoped her to get. But the professional judgment of producing films reminded me to wait for a totally different result: There must be something wrong coming with the excellence----perhaps not only should another section be added to enrich the story, but also we may see from the next transition of Jane’s life that “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you would get.”(By Forrest Gump’s mother, in the film “Forrest Gump”)What’s more, this film didn’t end when Jane left Thornfield. For Jane Eyer herself, there should always be somewhere to realize her great ideal of being independent considering her fortitude, but for Rochester, how he can get salvation? The film gives the answer tentatively: Jane eventually got back to Rochester. In fact, when Jane met Rochester for the first time, she scared his horse and made his heel strained, to a certain extent, which meant Rochester would get retrieval because of Jane. We can consider Rochester’s experiences as that of religion meaning. The fire by his frantic wife was the punishment for the cynicism early in his life. After it, Rochester got the mercy of the Godand the love of the woman whom he loved. Here we can say: human nature and divinity get united perfectly in order to let such a story accord with the requirements of both two sides. The value of this film may be due to its efforts to explore a new way for the development of humanism under the faith of religion.Life is ceaselessly changing, but our living principles remain. Firmly persisting for the rights of being independent gives us enough confidence and courage, which is like the beacon over the capriccioso sea of life. In the world of the film, we have found the stories of ourselves, which makes us so concerned about the fate of the dramatis personae. In this era of rapid social and technological change leading to increasing life complexity and psychological displacement, both physical and mental effects on us call for a balance. We are likely to find ourselves bogged down in the Sargasso Sea of information overload and living unconsciousness. It’s our spirit that makes the life meaningful.Heart is the engine of body, brain is the resource of thought, and great films are the mirrors of life. Indubitably, “Jane Eyer”is one of them.Hua YuhaoClass One。

The Book Report on Jane EyreJane Eyre is one of the most representative works in Charlotte Bronte’s life. This novel was published in August, 1847. This poetic, imaginative story of the love of a young governess for her married employer had und0ubted connections with her experiences in Brussels. It was an immediate success with both readers and most of the critics. All her novels were successful. She paid much attention to the rights of women. She thought that women had the equal rights to work, to love and to live. In her works, there were many characteristics that fought for their equality, freedom and independence, Jane Eyre being the representative. From these characters, we can see the shadow of Charlotte Bronte.Jane Eyre was an orphan. Both her father and mother had died when she was a baby, and the little girl was passed into the care of her relative, Mr. Reed, who was the brother of Jane’s mother. But after his death, Jane was treated badly. She was abused by the cruel aunt and neglected by the naughty cousins. One day a cousin knocked her to the floor. When she fought back, Mrs. Reed punished her by sending her to the gloomy Lowood School. Mrs. Reed cheated Mr. Brocklehurt that Jane was a very naughty girl and didn’t feel shameful for her rudeness. In the school, Jane was a diligent student, well-liked by her superiors, especially by Miss Temple, the mistress, who refused to accept without proof by Mrs. Reed’s low estimate of Jane’s character. Although Jane was punished by Mr. Brocklehurt, her students still showed their kindness to her. Child as she was, she kept a bright heart to the situation. From the book we are learning, there was the poor situation where Jane and other girls were in. They were treated badly. They suffered contempt from poverty. They didn’t have freedom and equality.Jane is a very successful image who is portrayed by Charlotte Bronte. Like Shelli, Lucy and Francis, Jane is an orphan. She suffersa lot from the poor life. Although she is in disadvantage, she never gives herself up. She has the charm of character. She has the most valuable nature of ration. She is longing for purity. She has stable belief and romantic ideas. She pursues the deep love. She doesn’t harm her dignity. She wants to let her mind free.Although she is poor, not beautiful, short and micro, she still has a complete soul. She wants to be treated equally. She is kind to the world. She has a deep love to the life.。

A Book Report of Jane EyreThe novel is rich in poetry, symbolism and metaphor. It does not fit easily into a definite pattern, being neither a novel of "manners" in the tradition of Austen, or a straightforward Gothic Romance in the style of Mrs Radcliffe. What Charlotte Bronte did was to create a work which cleverly blends elements of the two styles, and which remains uniquely independent of them at the same time, since it addresses issues which were at the time rather controversial. The novel is written in the first person, and thus magnifies the central character - the reader enters the world of Jane Eyre and is transported through her experiences at first hand. This at once makes the work subjective, especially since we know that Charlottes Brontes own life and experiences were so closely interwoven with the heroine's. As well as this we learn only at the end of the novel that the events are being related to us ten years after the reconciliation with Rochester - thus the narrative is RETROSPECTIVE (looking back). CB is clever in blending the narrative so that at times Jane seems to be speaking as an adult with adult hindsight , while at others she she is "in the middle" of them, as a child or young woman. The indecision which is a central issue in the book, is heightened by this device. We never know, as readers, whether to be entirely trustful of Janes actions and thoughts, because we are never sure wheher she is speaking impulsively or maturely. This intensifies the readers dilemma as to what is "right" and "wrong" in the dramatic relationships which are part of JE's life. Can we believe what the heroine says, or is she deceiving herself? The novel is primarily a love story and a "romance" where wishes come true but only after trials and suffering. The supernatural has its place, as do dreams, portents and prophesies. The heroine begins poor and lonely and ends up rich and loved; the orphan finds a good family to replace the wicked one; all the basic ingredients of classic romantic fairytale are present.。
Book Report on Jane Eyre
Book Report on Jane EyreJane Eyre is a novel written by Charlotte Bronte. The book can really be considered as a symbol of the independent spirit. As we all know, the author Charlotte and her two sisters Ann and Emily are all very famous in the literary world. In fact, Charlotte’s first book The Professor was never published during her lifetime. However, luckily, Jane Eyre which Charlotte Bronte wrote later was published in 1847 and became one of the most successful novels throughout the world. And in the following years, she became a quite popular writer in London’s literary set.The book mainly tells us a story of Jane Eyre and Rochester’s love, and it also focuses on the emotions and experiences that accompany Jane’s growth to be mature from childhood to adulthood. Jane Eyre is a strong-minded woman who has low birth and tortuous life road. However, she always adheres to maintain independent personality, pursue for the freedom of individual character and stand for equality, and she never lower her head to the life in her life time. Jane, whose parents went off when she was very young, is raised at Gateshead by her cruel aunt Mrs. Reed who is the only relative she has. At Gateshead, Jane is treated as badly as a ragtag and has a really sad childhood. Afterwards, Jane is sent to the Lowood School, where she doesn’t get what she has been expecting for. At Lowood, Jane makes good friends with a young girl whose name is Helen Burns and likes her very much. However, unluckily, Helen dies of consumption, then Jane feels very depressed. After graduation, Jane has been teaching in Lowood School for two years. And after that, Jane gets a chance to be a tutor in Thornfiled Garden. There she makes the acquaintance of lovely Adele and Rochester who is the garden’s owner and is a man with warm heart despite a cold face outside. Gradually, Jane and Rochester both find themselves fall in love with each other and want to get married. Jane expects to change the life from then on, but fate has decided otherwise. At the wedding, Jane unfortunately comes to know in fact that Rochester has already had a legal wife. Jane knows thatRochester is also a despairing person in need of salvation and she wants to give him one hand, however, she makes up her mind to leave finally because of her unwillingness to betray her own principles. Fortunately, the story has a very happy ending. Jane inherited a large number of legacies and finally returned back to Thornfiled Garden. After finding Rochester’s misfortune brought by his original mad wife, Jane chooses to stay with him forever. After reading the book Jane Eyre, I am deeply impressed by Jane, a special woman, who is exposed to a terrible environment but continuously and fearlessly struggles for her ideal life. At the same time, Jane’s p ursuit of love and her attitudes towards love really make me touched. She thinks that love should be established on the basis of spiritually equality, and should not be dependent on social status, wealth or appearance. In her opinion, only when man and woman both fall in love with each other deeply can they get real happiness. However, in today's materialistic society, people often put love together with money and social status, and the pure love rarely can be seen. Different with Jane Eyre, few people will relentlessly pursue for the love and personality at the expense of all things they have. So Jane’s pursuit of love and dignity by whole heart is very precious and all of people in today’s society should learn from her.In conclusion, the book is just like a glass of ice water which can purify every one's heart and it is really worthy to be read. We should always regard Jane as our role model and learn from her to be an independent person both physically and mentally.姚汝佳英语翻译122班 1207032044。

简爱读书报告Book report of Jane EyreAs we all known, Jane Eyre is the masterpiece of Charlotte Bront?. It is Bront? that created Jane Eyre--the most powerful, independent, kind, and self-respecting lady who I have never met before.Different from many other traditional romantic novels, at thebeginning of the book, Jane is an isolated, powerless ten-year-old orphan girl living with her wealthy aunt and cousins who dislike her and treated her cruelly. Jane Eyre was finally send to Lowood school--a charity school. Life in Lowood was hard, people there must believed in hard work, plain food, simple clothes and no luxury of any kind. So most of them were offish except Miss Temple, the headmistress of Lowood School. Besides, Jane met a young girl named Helen Burns who shared a lot with her and became her best friend. Unfortunately, a massive typhus fever swept Lowood and Helen died of tuberculosis. After that, a new school was built and Jane stayed there for 8 years and worked as a teacher in the last two years with the help of Miss Temple--busy but happy. Afterbeing a governess after leaving Lowood at Thornfield, Jane Eyre, poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting, captured the heart of her enigmatic employer, Edward Rochester. However, on the wedding day, Jane found that Rochester already had a wife, Bertha. Rochester did’t deny this. Knowing that it is impossible for her to be with Rochester, Jane left Thornfield sadly.Without food and money, Jane was forced to sleep outdoors and beg for food. At last, three kind hearted people took her in. Their names are Mary, Diana, and St. John and Jane quickly became friends with them. They found Jane a job teaching at a school in Morton. One day a news said that her uncle, John Eyre, has died and left her a large property. Then she found that her uncle was also their uncle. Jane immediately decided to share her property with her three new cousins. St. John decided to travel to India, and he asked Jane tobe his wife. She refused to marry him because she did not love him at all. At the same time, she found the man who she really loved so much was Rochester. Jane immediately went back to Thornfield and found that it had been burned to the ground.Rochester saved the servants but lost his eyesight and one of his hands. At Ferndean Manor, Rochester and Janefinally got married. At the end of the story, Rochester regained sight in one eye and was able to behold their first son at his they lived a happy life forever. After having a long journey of the spirit of Jane Eyre, her marvelous figure has left me so much to recall and to think: her striving for life, her goodness for everyone, her pursuit of justice, her self-respect and her clear attitude on equality. Her famous words that touched and inspired everyone is “Do you think I’m a machine, without feelings? Do you think, because I’m small and poor and plain, that I have no soul and heart? Well, you’re wrong! I have as much soul and heart as you. It is my spirit thatspeaks to your spirit! We are equal in the sight of God!” Her idea of equality and self-respect impress us so much and let us feel the power inside her body. It was easy to see that throughout the story, Jane Eyre behaved strong-minded enough to her love and brave enough to seek her own independence. The affection between Jane and Rochester is true love. Judging from the story that Jane left Mr Rochester when he was rich and health but came back even though he was bland and disabled, we can realize that the love between them are not driven by money or social status. It was love that encouraged her to came back and marry Rochester.Reference? Charlotte Bront? first published the book as Jane Eyre: An Autobiography under the pseudonym Currer Bell, and it was an instant success, earning the praise of many reviewers, including William Makepeace Thackeray, to whom Charlotte Bront? dedicated her secondedition. The story is that of a governess, Jane Eyre. Despite her plainness, she captures the heart of her enigmatic employer, Edward Rochester, but soon discovers he has a secret that could jeopardize any hope of happinessbetween them .Published in 1847, Jane Eyre brought almost instant fame to its obscure author, the daughter of aclergyman in a small mill town in northern England. On the surface, the novel embodies stock situations of the Gothic novel genre such as mystery, horror, and the classic medieval castle setting; many of the incidents border on (and cross over into) melodrama. The story of the young heroine is also in many ways conventional—the rise of a poor orphan girl against overwhelming odds, whose love and determinationeventually redeem a tormented hero. Yet if this all there were to Jane Eyre, the novel would soon have been forgotten. In writing Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte did not write a mere romantic potboiler. Her book has serious things to say about a number of important subjects: the relations between men and women, women’s equality, the treatment of children and of women, religious faith andreligious hypocrisy (and the difference between the two), the realization of selfhood, and the nature of true love. But again, if its concerns were onlytopical, it would not have outlived the time in which it was written. The book is not a tract any more than it is a potboiler. It is a work of fiction with memorable characters and vivid scenes, written in a compelling prose style. In appealing to both the head and the heart, Jane Eyre triumphs over its flaws andremains a classic of nineteenth-century English literature and one of the most popular of all English novels.Jane Eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. Her idea of equality and self-respect impress us so much and let us feel the power inside her body.In my mind, though a person’s beauty on the face can make others once feel that one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind isn’t the same beautiful as the appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, when others find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it’s not true, they will like the person no more. For a long time, only a person’s great virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can be called as an everlasting beauty just as Kahill Gibran has said, that Beauty is a heartenflamed and a soul enchanted’. I can feel that how beauty really is, as we are all fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whethera man is of nobleness or humbleness, but fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but as there are greatdifferences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is noble or ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not. Her story makes us thinking about life and we learn much from her experience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real beauty.。

By novel’s end she has become a powerful, independent woman, blissfully married to the man she loves, Rochester.Edward RochesterJane’s lover; a dark, passionate, brooding man. A traditional romantic hero, Rochester has lived a troubled wife. Married to an insane Creole woman, Bertha Mason, Rochester sought solace for several years in the arms of mistresses. Finally,he seeks to purify his life and wants Jane Eyre, the innocent governess he has hired to teach his foster daughter, Adèle Varens, to become his wife. The wedding falls through when she learns of the existence of his wife. As penance for his transgressions, he is punished by the loss of an eye and a hand when Bertha sets fire to Thornfield. He finally gains happiness at the novel’s end when he is reunited with Jane.2. The plot of the story:Jane Eyre, is a poor orphan with a joyless life as a child in the opening chapters. Her wealthy aunt, the widowed Mrs. Reed, is bound by a deathbed promise to her husband to raise his orphaned niece, Jane. However, she and her children are unkind to Jane, never failing to emphasize how she is below them. Jane’s plain, intelligent, and passionate nature, combined with her occasional “visions” or vivid dreams, certainly do not help to secure her relatives’ affections. After a serious typhoid fever epidemic occurs simultaneo usly with Helen’s death, the conditions in Lowood improve and Jane slowly finds her place in the institution, eventually becoming a teacher. When Miss Temple marries and moves away, Jane decides to change careers. She is desperate to see the world beyond Lowood and puts out an advertisement inthe local paper, soon securing a position as governess in Thornfield Hall.At first, life is very quiet with Jane teaching a young French girl, Adèle, and spending time with the old housekeeper, Mrs. Fairfax. But everything changes when the owner of the manor—brooding, Byronic, fiery Edward Rochester—arrives. Though on rough footing at first, he and Jane slowly become acquainted with and grow to respect each other. Mr. Rochester creates an elaborate set-up by seemingly courting a proud local beauty named Miss Blanche Ingram until Jane cannot bear it any longer. Mr. Rochester then admits that his courtship of Miss Ingram was a ruse to arouse Jane’s jealousy and that it is she whom he truly loves. His feelings are returned, and they become engaged despite their differences in social status, age, and experience. Jane is young and innocent at nineteen years old, while Rochester is nearly forty—worldly, and thoroughly disillusioned with life and religion. Jane is determined to stay modest, plain, and virtuous, and Rochester is almost equally determined to offer her expensive presents and finery. The former has the moral high ground, though, and the weeks before the wedding are spent mostly as she wishes.Jane Eyre, is a poor orphan with a joyless life as a child in the opening chapters. Mr. Rochester offers to take her abroad to live with him, but Jane is not willing to sacrifice her morals or self-respect for earthly pleasures, let alone accept the status of mistress, even though Rochester insists Jane will break his heart if she refuses him. Torn between her love for Rochester and her own integrity and religion, Jane flees Thornfield in the middle of the night, with very little money and nowhere to go.worlds bankdawn [d??n] n. 黎明,拂晓day [de?] n.(一)天,(一)日;白天daylight [?de?la?t] n. 唷!a. 亲爱的;贵的death [deθ] n. 死debate [d??be?t] n. & v. 行为;事迹deep [di?p] a. 深ad. 深;深厚deeply [?di?pl?] ad. 深深地deer [d??(r)] n. 鹿defeat [d??fi?t] vt. 删去deliberately [d??l?b?r?tl?] ad.
Jane Eyre
The Submissive Aspect in Jane EyreJane Eyre is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. After we close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, a marvelous figure, has left us so much to recall and to think:We remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past.In my mind, though a person¡¯s beauty on the face can make others once feel that one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind isn¡¯t the same beautiful as the appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, when others find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it¡¯s not true, they will like the person no more. For a long time, only a person¡¯s great virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can be called as AN EVERLASTING BEAUTY, just as Kahill Gibran has said, that ¡®Beauty is a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted¡¯. I can feel that how beauty really is, as we are all fleshly men, so we can¡¯t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but fleshly men, so we can¡¯t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but as there are great differences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is noble or ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not.Her story makes us thinking about life and we learn much from her experience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real beauty.Jane Eyre is a touching story of a strong lady, Jane Eyre. She lost her parents when she was still an infant. After spending a painful time at her aunt¡¯s house and a school whose rules were too rigid for a child, she became an tutor at Thornfield and felt in love with her boss¡ªMr. Rochester. However, she was not able to marry him for he already had a wife, who was a bulky and crazy. The desperate Jane left him and accidentally found her cousins and inherited her uncle¡¯s legacy. She shared the money with her cousins. When she found out her love, Mr. Rochester was blind she decisively went back to him.Every human being can find his reflection in Jane Eyre. She was not pretty, not brilliant, not wealthy and had no family. Similarly we were all born with some defects or other. In other words, we are all bound to face these imperfections of life and we all need the strength to live with them. Sometimes we need some role models to warm our hearts and light our paths. Jane Eyre is one. However gloomy her days were she never lost her dignity nor did she give herself up. So when we lose hope or complain about the imperfections of life we can always get someguidance and reassurance from Jane.I would also like to point out another thing I admire about Jane. Wealth could never affect her peace of mind. She was not overwhelmed by the joy of getting a large amount of money from his uncle. She generously shared it with her cousins. When Rochester was blind and lost his big house Jane immediately came to his help and comforted him. Her love was generous and pure, like the spring sun reviving the desert in Rochester¡¯s heart. Money is just an additional bonus of life. It is a tool, a means but never the main tune of life. Only love can be the reason of life. Only love can heal the broken hearts and carry the desperate ones through the gloomy days.Jane Eyre is part of me and is now residing in my heart. She will give me strength and power when I am depressed.Jane Eyre is a novel written by Charlotte Bronte, an English woman novelist in the 19th century. This story is set in England in the 19th century. It starts with the ill-treatment that the heroine Jane Eyre gets in her aunt¡¯s family and her rebellious actions towards it. The story goes on with her experience in a cruel and inhumane charitable institution ¡°Lowood¡±, where she suffers coldness and starvation and witnesses death, but luckily gains knowledge. After eight years¡¯ training in Lowood, six as a student and two as a teacher, Jane leaves Lowood and seeks a position as a governess in Thornfield. It is in Thornfield that she meets her future husband, Edward Rochester, but on their wedding day Edward is proved to be a married man. In facing this situation, Jane leaves Edward. But later, when Edward¡¯s wife dies and Edward is disabled, Jane returns to Edward and takes the responsibility to look after him. In the end, they get married and live a happy life.In this novel, Jane Eyre is depicted as a woman rebelling against convention. This can be clearly seen in her relationship with Edward Rochester. When she finds that she has fallen in love with Edward, a man at her father¡¯s age, she bravely expresses her love rather than cowers back, not letting age become the barrier of love. When she receives her master¡¯s love, she refuses those easily-obtained fortune or wealth but insists on being a governess all the same and earning her own living, holding the belief that a woman should be independent in a family. Although in this novel, Charlotte does successfully create such an unconventional woman, the unconventionality is not thorough, because the submissive aspects in Jane¡¯s character can still be seen.First of all, she succumbs to people¡¯s opinions on women¡¯s appearance. She sticks to the belief that beauty is indispensable in forming a perfect lady. Being a plain-looking girl, Jane has a strong inferiority complex about her look, even when she becomes a well-educated lady. When living in her aunt¡¯s family, she attributes her dislike by the family partly to her plain appearance. She mentions that if she was handsome, her aunt would endure her presence more complacently; her cousins would entertain for her more of the cordiality of fellow-feeling; the servants would be less prone to make her the scapegoat of the nursery. When being a governess in Thornfield and seeing Miss Ingram, she feels incompetence to win Edward¡¯s love against such a beautiful lady at first sight. Then in the party, she carefully observes Miss Ingram and Edward, and in her mind strongly expresses the feeling that they don¡¯t truly love each other and Miss Ingram doesn¡¯t suit Edward in personality. As to this point, it shows Jane¡¯s jealousy about Miss Ingram¡¯s beauty. She seems to declare that if she has beauty, she can no doubt win Edward¡¯s love. And this can be further proved in her later declaration of love to Edward. She says that: if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you.In addition, she gives in to the traditional emphasis on women¡¯s chastity. On the wedding day of Jane and Edward, Jane surprisingly knows that Edward has a living wife. Though she witnesses the insanity of his wife and realizes the hard life that Edward lived with such a mad woman, she refuses to marry him in that situation. Regardless of Edward¡¯s confess and entreaty, Jane leaves him. If Jane was thoroughly unconventional, she could accept Edward¡¯s love and becomes a mistress and then lives a carefree life with her beloved Edward, but she doesn't do this. She can¡¯t accept being a mistress. As a woman, she regards legal marriage status the precondition in the combination of a man and a woman.Last but not least, she bends her knee to God. In this story, God always appears when Jane can¡¯t make her decision, and each time she chooses to follow the God¡¯s direction. When Jane is deep in dilemma whether to stay or leave after the cancellation of the wedding ceremony, it is the God¡¯s voice that ultimately leads her leaving Edward. Later in the moor house, she submits herself to St. John, a devotional God admirer, doing many harsh tasks and trying her best to meet his requirements, though these are not favorable to her. After St. John proposes to Jane several times, Jane is bewildered. She can¡¯t decide whether to live in England to keep her love for Edward or follow St.John to a far-away place to do divine missions. At this time, she asks a favor from God. If she didn't hear Edward¡¯s call, most probably she would follow St. John to fulfill God¡¯s mission as long as life endures if God directs her to do so.Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books. In this novel, Charlotte creates a successful woman character: Jane Eyre. She is self-respecting and independent, but also has the submissive aspects as a woman. If you are interested in people of such characteristics, this book is a good choice for you to consider.I think Jane Eyre is an excellent novel and I bellieve it is read and enjoyed by many people even today. The whole story is narrated by Jane in past-tense. In this way we can observe the heroine¡¯s inside world clearly.Jane is certainly a classic model of brilliant woman in the Victorian Era. Charlotte created such a character with simple words and sentences. Just compare her name ¡°Jane¡± with those noble lady¡¯s name-¡° Georgiana¡±, ¡°Blanche¡±, ¡°Rosemond¡±-and you will know that she was plain in features but strong in character. I gain much courage from her as she struggled with her fate all the time. She had never surrendered to bad circumstances and always sought for true love and independence.I think the most moving scene in the story is when the secret was revealed and Jane decided to leave Rochester. What a strong determination did she have that she abandoned all she had including her true love to maintain her principles! In this novel, Charlotte criticized the Victorian assumptions about gender and social class. It has also raised questions on other subjects such as religion, gender relations, etc. Some critics have pointed out that there are too many coincidences in the story that it is nearly unbelievable. But all in all it is a good novel.Book Report of Jane Eyre 2009-10-18 17:24I have read a book called Jane Eyre. It has 274 pages. The book was wrote in 1846, and it¡¯s the second novel of Charlotte Bronte. It was first published in autumn, 1847. Although the story is fictional, the life of the heroine and other peolple are based on the author or other people¡¯s real life. It is said that, the book made a hit in the literaryworld when it first came into being. More than 100 famous scholars recommended this book together. Many peolple love it very much. The auther of the book, Charlotte Bronte, was born in Yorkshire, England. She had four sisters and a brother. The two younger sisters are also writers, and they¡¯ve been called ¡°Bronte Sisters¡±. Bronte¡¯s mother died early, so their life were hard. But their father was knowledgeable, he often tought them read books. So Charlotte had great interesting in literature since she was young. In August, 1824, she was sent to a boarding school with her two sisters. The Lowood school in Jane Eyre was based on this shhool, and the lovely Helen was based on her older sisiter Maria. The physical conditions of the school were hard, it do harm to Charlotte¡¯s health. After returning home, Charlotte learn music, painting, and writing with her sisters. When she was 14, she has wrote many novels, poems and plays. In the following years, she went to school and be a teacher after gratuation. In 1839 and 1841, she tried to be a tutor. But the job was discriminated at that time. She can¡¯t bear that. Then she wanted to start a school with her sisters, but it also failed. She still had faith in writing. In antumn 1845, she published a book of poems. But only two of the books had been sold. The difficulty didn¡¯t made them give up. The tried novels for a change. They sent their novels tigether. Two months later, Wuthering Heights by Emily and Agnes Grey by Anne, was accepted, but Charlotte¡¯s The professor was sent back. Charlotte didn¡¯t give up and started another novel called Jane Eyre. And finally she succeeded. She also had many other famous books, such as Shirley and Villette. The heroine of the book is Jane Eyre, and the hero is Mr Rochester. They fell in love with each other. There are some other charactors in this book. Mrs Reed, Jane¡¯s aunt, and her three child Eliza Reed, Georgiana Reed and Jone Reed. They all treat Jane bad when she was in their home. Jane¡¯s mother Jane Reed and Jane¡¯s father Jone Eyre both died when Jane was a baby. Mr Brocklehurst is the headmaster of Lowood school, he is man like Mrs Reed. In Lowood school, Jane makes friends with Helen. She is a nice girl, it¡¯s a pitty she dies in Lowood. The housekeeper of Mr Rochester, Mrs Fairfax, is Jane¡¯s friend. Bertha Mason is Rochester¡¯s wife. But she has madness. She invite Jane to be Adele¡¯s governess. And Adele is the daughter of Rochester¡¯s friend. After Jane leave Rochester¡¯s house, she live in Moor House. She lives there with Diana, Mary and St John Rivers. That¡¯s the main characters of this book. The book tells us the story of Jane Eyre¡¯s life. She has a hard childhood. She was discriminated in her aunt¡¯s house. She can¡¯t live like other children. And her cousin always punish her. Lowood school also fill with fear and death. The hard living condition makes Jane strong. She keeps seeking beautiful life and never give up. In her opinion, love should be equal. Though her social status is lower than Rochester, but she never care about that. In her eyes, they were the same. When she know that Mr Rochester has a wife, she leave him. Because she think she has been cheated, her self-respect is wounded. She leave the big house, because there¡¯s something she think more important than money. But when she hear Mr Rochester¡¯s house has burnt and Rochester has been disabled, she go to find him immediately. She protect her self-respect and find her true love. The story impressed me deeply. I admire Jane very much. She stands for independent ladies. From her story I can feel a strong lady fight for equal and true love. Nowadays many people think money is the most important thing, but in order for self-respect she can throw away every thing. And she finally find her true love. Besides we can also learn from her firm in character and her seeking for knowledge. We should keep our soul pure and fight for our dreams. The world is always so beautiful.。

Book report of Jane Eyre“Do you think I am an automaton? –a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup? Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! –I have as much soul as you, –and full as much heart! And if Godhad gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you. I am nottalking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh; –it is my spirit that addresses your spirit”Jane Eyre, an eccentric woman, is not beautiful, but her challenging and challenging personality makes her full of charm. Book Report of Jane EyreJane Eyre is a famous and influential novel by English writer Charlotte Brontë. It was published in London, England, in 1847 by Smith, Elder & Co. with the title Jane Eyre. An Autobiography under the pen name "Currer Bell," the "autobiography's" supposed editor. The Penguin edition describes it as an “influential feminist text” for its in-depth exploration of a strong female character’s feeling. Jane Eyre is a first-person narrative of the title character. It is partly autobiographical, and the novel abounds with social criticism, Gothicism and romanticism to create a distinctive Victorian novel. The author Charlotte Brontë was an English novelist and poet, the eldest of the three Brontë sisters, whose novels are English literature standards. This novel is partly autobiography, so there were many similarities between Jane and the author. In August 1824, Charlotte was sent with three of her sisters, Emily, Maria, and Elizabeth, to the Clergy Daughters' School at Cowan Bridge in Lancashire (which she would describe as Lowood School in Jane Eyre). What’s more, many people appeared in her life had been written in his novel in different names.Jane Eyre is a first-person narrative of the title character. The novel goes through five distinct stages: 1. Jane's childhood at Gateshead, where she is emotionally and physically abused by her aunt and cousins; 2. her education at Lowood School, where she acquires friends and role models but also suffers privations and oppression; 3.her time as the governess of Thornfield Hall, where she falls in love with her Byronic employer, Edward Rochester; 4.her time with the Rivers family during which her earnest but cold clergyman-cousin St John Rivers proposes to her; 5.and the finale with her reunion with and marriage to her beloved Rochester. The novel begins with a ten-year-old orphan named Jane Eyre who is living with her uncle's family, the Reeds, as her uncle's dying wish. Both of Jane's parents died of typhus. Jane’s Aunt Sarah Reed doesn’t like her a nd treats her like a servant. She and her three children are abusive to Jane, physically and emotionally. One day Jane gets locked in the room in which her uncle died, and panics after seeing visions of him. She is finally rescued when she is allowed to attend Lowood School for Girls. At Lowood, Jane is branded as a liar by accident and shamed before her entire assembly. But Jane is comforted by her friend, Helen Burns. The eighty pupils at Lowood are subjected to cold rooms, poor meals, and thin clothing. Many students fall ill when a typhus epidemic strikes. Jane's friend Helen dies of consumption in her arms. After eight years of school Jane decides to leave. She advertises her services as a governess, and receives one reply. It is from Alice Fairfax, who is a keeper of Thornfield Hall. She takes the position, caring for Adele Varens, a young French girl. While Jane is walking one night to a nearby town, a horseman passes her. The horse slips on ice and throws the rider. She helps him. Later, back at the mansion she learns that this man is Edward Rochester, master of the house. Mr. Rochester and Jane enjoy each other's company. And they spend many hours together.Odd things happen at the house, such as a strange laugh, a mysterious fire and anattack on Rochester's house guest, Mr. Mason. Jane hears that her aunt was calling for her, after being in much grief because her son committed suicide. She returns to Gateshead and remains there for a month caring for her dying aunt.Mrs. Reed admits to telling her uncle that Jane had died of fever. Soon after, Jane's aunt dies, and Jane returns to Thornfield. After returning to Thornfield, Jane broods over Rochester's impending marriage to Blanche Ingram. But on a midsummer evening, he proclaims his love for Jane and proposes. Jane decides to get married with Mr. Rochester. During the wedding ceremony, Mr. Mason and a lawyer declare that Mr. Rochester can not marry because he is married to Mr. Mason’s sister. He admits this is true, and explains his wife is crazy and that he was tricked into marrying her. Refusing to go against her principles, and despite her love for him, Jane leaves Thornfield in the middle of the night.Jane travels through England using the little money she had saved. Exhausted, she makes her way to the home of Diana and Mary Rivers, but is turned away by the housekeeper. After she regains her health, St. John finds her a teaching position at a nearby charity school. Jane becomes good friends with the sisters, but St. John is too reserved. The sisters leave for governess jobs and St. John becomes closer with Jane. St. John discovers Jane's true identity, and astounds her by showing her a letter stating that her uncle John has died and left her his entire fortune of £20,000. Jane, overjoyed by finding her family, insists on sharing the money equally with her cousins, and Diana and Mary come to Moor House to stay.Jane then goes to Thornfield to find only blackened ruins. She learns that Rochester's wife set the house on fire and committed suicide by jumping from the roof. In his rescue attempts, Mr. Rochester lost a hand and his eyesight. Jane reunites with him, but he fears that she will be repulsed by his condition. When Jane assures him of her love and tells him that she will never leave him, Mr. Rochester again proposes. He eventually recovers enough sight to see their first-born son.Jane Eyre is very much the story of a quest to be loved. Jane searches, not just for romantic love, but also for a sense of being valued. In this novel, there are many parts impressed me a lot. The most famous line in Jane Eyre is "Reader, I married him." This line is significant not only in that it provides the novel with a happy ending, but also because of its active quality, which was probably shocking at the time of the novel's publication. The line "Reader, he married me." would have been more conventional. This sentence is only three words, but it contains a lot. From this line, we can see that Jane take the initiative in her marriage. She is not the one who has to accept the marriage. It is really not common at that time which shows that Jane is an independent and thoughtful woman.“Do you think because I am poor, plain and little, I am soulless and heartless? –You think wrong! - I have as much soul as you are,-and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with beauty and much wealth, I should have make it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you. I am not talking to you now though the medium of custom, conversationalities, nor even of mortal flesh: it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave, and we stood atGod’s feet, equal, as we are!”---- Chapter 23 This paragraph is also very famous. From these sentences we can see that what Jane Eyre wants is not only romantic love but also a sense of value and equal. Jane Eyre is not only a love story; it is also a plea for the recognition of the individual's worth. Throughout the book, Jane demands to be treated as an independent human being, a person with her own needs and talents. Charlotte is remarkable in port raying Jane Eyre is as self-respecting and rebellious girl, desiring equality, bravely showing her love and deciding on her own marriage. In the latter part of 20th century, Jane Eyre has come to be seen as a feminist heroine and her character has been closely identified with what of its creator.Actually, she wasn’t pretty, and of course, the ordinary appearance didn’t make others feel good of her, even her own aunt felt disgusted with it. And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease, so when Miss Ingram met Jane Eyre, she seemed quite contemptuous, for that she was obviously much more prettier than ‘the plain and ugly governess’. But as the little governess had said: ‘Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong!’ This is the idea of equality in Jane Eyre’s mind. God hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of equality and self-respect really impress me so much and let me feel the power inside her body.Jane Eyre, as she tells Rochester on more than one occasion, has a brain in her head, and her own intellect speaks to her as clearly as her heart. We can see that when Jane and Rochester are finally united in marriage, theirs is an equal partnership. Conveniently, Jane has inherited a fortune from her deceased uncle in the West Indies, another issue which was regarded by the writer perhaps the most important key to women’s independence, fina ncial self-sufficiency. In my opinion, financial self-sufficiency is essential for both men and women, no matter in the past or now. Nowadays, many young people still ask their parents for money even when they have jobs. If they do so, they will never be independent. Jane gives us a good example of self-independence. Although many readers related to the book as a straightforward love story its great power is also attributable to its complexity as a statement of the position of women in the mid-nineteenth-century. It is certainly true that Charlotte set out purposely to create a heroine who was not beautiful, rich, and accomplished, but a woman who is small, plain, penniless and alone in the world. Her intention was to some extent to turn romantic fiction on its head, to have her female character wrestle with the moral issue central to her relationship. There are many factors contribute to Jane’s success. Reading, education, and creativity are all essential components of Jane's growth, factors that help her achieve her final success. From the novel's opening chapters to its close, Jane reads a variety of texts: Pamela, Gulliver's Travels, and Marmion. Stories provide Jane with an escape from her unhappy domestic situation, feeding her imagination and offering her a vast world beyond the troubles of her real life: By opening her inner ear, she hears "a tale my imagination created . . . quickened with all incident, life, fire, feeling, that Idesired and had not in my actual existence." Similarly, she believes education will allow her the freedom to improve her position in society by teaching her to act like a "lady," but her success at school, in particular her drawing ability, also increases her self-confidence. Jane confesses that artistic creation offers her one of the "keenest pleasures" of her life, and Rochester is impressed with Jane's drawings because of their depth and meaning, not typical of a schoolgirl. As far as I am concerned, reading, education, and creativity are essential components for everyone. “Nurture passes nature.” Everyone needs knowledge. We can get knowledge both from education and experience. But we should combine them into one, so that we can get more. Knowledge is a treasure, but practice is the key to it. No matter what we learn, we should try to practice them as Jane does.Although artistic and educational pursuits are essential elements of Jane's personality, she also feels a need to assert her identity through rebellion. In the opening chapters of the novel, Jane refers to herself as a "rebel slave," and throughout the story she opposes the forces that prevent her from finding happiness: Mrs. Reed's unfair accusations, Rochester's attempt to make her his mistress, and St. John's desire to transform her into a missionary wife. By falling in love with Rochester, she implicitly mutinies against the dictates of class boundaries that relegate her, as a governess, to a lower status than her "master." Besides rejecting traditional views of class, she also denigrates society's attempts to restrict women's activities. Women, she argues, need active pursuits and intellectual stimulation, just as men do. Most of Jane's rebellions target the inequities of society, but much of her personality is fairly conventional. In fact, she often seems to provide a model of proper English womanhood: frank, sincere, and lacking in personal vanity.Jane's personality balances social awareness with spiritual power. Throughout the novel, we can know that Jane's spirituality isn't a purely Christian one — in fact, she rejects many of the Christian characters in the novel, such as St. John Rivers, Eliza Reed, and Mr. Brocklehurst —but a mixture of Christian and pagan ideas. Like nature, Jane's God is filled with bounty, compassion, and forgiveness —qualities lacking in many of the spiritual leaders she criticizes in the novel. In my mind, though a person’s beauty on the face can make others once feel that one is attra ctive and charming, if his or her mind isn’t the same beautiful as the appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, when others find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it’s not true, they will like the person no more. For a long time, only a person’s great virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can be called as an everlasting beauty, just as Kahill Gibran has said, that ‘Beauty is a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted’.Jane does not have a beautiful appearance, but her self-respecting and rebellious mind make her much more beautiful then the people who only have beautiful appearance. This novel not only let me know a good love story, but also give me a spiritual lesson. It let me see a self-respecting and independent woman. All in all, this novel is worth reading and will teach you a lot.。
