People all know dogs can smell very well, so people usually use dogs to look for missing people, and to find out drugs (毒品) and even disease (疾病). But scientists weren’t sure if stressed (有压力的) people had a special smell. And if they did, they weren’t sure whether dogs could find out that smell. It shows that the answer to both questions is “yes”.
Wilson is a scientist who worked with four dogs. He taught the dogs to use a special smell-testing thing with three open boxes. Then he used meat to train (训练) the dogs to find the right box. Over time, he gave the dogs harder and harder smelling jobs. The final goal (目标) was to see if they could smell stress from a person.
With the help of other scientists, Wilson got 36 samples (样本) from different people. He got them when the people were stressed, and also when they were not. Then the dogs had to find out the stressed one. In all, the dogs did 720 of these tests. To his surprise, the dogs could find out the stressed one about 94% of the time.
The results (结果) show that stress does have a smell and dogs can know. Wilson says the news could be very useful in training service dogs, because their job is to help make that stress lower.
11. What can’t dogs do from paragraph 1?
A.Look for drugs. B.Cure (治疗) disease. C.Find missing people.

14. Why does Wilson think the news is useful?
A.Because it helps people to cure stress diseases.
B.Because more dogs can be used to look for people.
C.Because people can train dogs to make people less stressed.
15. Where can we see this passage?
A.In a story book. B.In an art magazine. C.In a science newspaper.

Over the past years, Ye has helped more than 2,000 children, and Yang Hongyan is o ne of them. “Without Grandpa Ye’s help, I may have stopped learning.” says Yang.
“It must be a lie to say that I’m not tired. But I think the meaning of life is doing something for others, and that’s the most important thing of life.” says Ye. Chinese calendar comes from the movement (移动) of the moon and the sun. It has a history of more than 4,000 years. Each Chinese calendar year has to do 36 a zodiac sign (生肖), 12 or 13 months and each month has 29 or 30 days. If there are 12 months, there will be 353—355 days in a year; if 13 months, there 37 (be) 383—385 days. China uses the Gregorian calendar (公历) for some business 38 (activity). The Chinese calendar is also widely used to define (定义) 24 solar terms, 39 (tradition) holidays. It advises people 40 (choose) a lucky day before important activities such as weddings (婚礼), moving into a new house, etc. So Chinese people can see both of 41 (they) in daily life.
42 does the Chinese calendar work? Each time the moon moves into a line with the earth and the sun, the 43 (begin) of a new month arrives and this is called “Chu Yi” or “Shuo Ri”, meaning 44 first day of a lunar month (太阴月). When the full moon appears, it is the middle of the month. But why does one month have 29 days or 30 days? 45 the time of a full moon circle (循环) is a little more than 29 days. Just as the Gregorian calendar has a leap year (闰年), the Chinese calendar has a leap month, which means there are 13 months in some years.
