I am an art student and I paint a lot of pictures. Many people pretend that they understand modern art. They always tell you what a picture is ‘about'. Of course, many pictures are not 'about' anything. They arejust pretty patterns. We like them in the same way that we like pretty curtain material. I think that young children often appreciate modern pictures better than anyone else. They notice more. My sister is only seven, but she always tells me whether my pictures are good or not. She came intomy roomyesterday.'What are you doing?' she asked.‘I'm hanging this picture on the wall,' I answered. ‘It'sanew one. Do you likeit?'She looked at it critically for a moment. 语⾔点 one作代词，避免重复上⾯提到的名词：
I forgot to bring a pen. Could you lend me one? 我忘记带钢笔了，你能借我⼀⽀吗？
14. She looked at it critically for a moment.
她⽤挑剔的⽬光看了⼀会⼉。

语⾔点 critically为副词，在句中作状语。

15.‘It’s all right,’ she said, ‘but isn’t it upside down ?’
“还可以吧”她说，“不过，是不是挂倒了？ ”
语⾔点 all right及其合成形容词的主要⽤法：
1) all-right令⼈满意的，良好的：
an all-right fellow ⼀个不错的家伙；an all-right movie ⼀部令⼈满意的影⽚
2) all right正确的：
Your answers are all right.你的答案是正确的。

3) all right毫⽆疑问：
It’s cold，all right.毫⽆疑问，天很冷。

16. I looked at it again. She was right! It was!
