March 16 is International Sleep Day. And we should all celebrate the act of sleeping. Researchers say sleep is probably the best tool we have for memory and learning. But what about getting rest during the middle of the day?
A recent study on napping(小睡) says short periods of sleep may help our brains work better. Past studies have shown that napping can help babies and young children learn better. And napping can help brain performance in older adults. Taking a nap may also help this group of people fight off memory loss because of the increase in their age.
Many Americans do nap. But one-third of all adults in the United States are also chronically(长期的) tired, says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It found that 50 million to 70 million Americans have chronic sleep disorders. However, they seem to be unwilling to tell people that they take a nap. They may think that napping shows they are weak or they don’t have enough energy. It is not an uncommon opinion that only children, the very old, sick or lazy people na p. In fact, Americans sometimes do a very strange thing. Some people brag about how few hours of sleep they need each night to show that they are somehow stronger than the average human–superhuman, if you will. However, that may be changing. Many offices now offer napping rooms and napping cafes(咖啡馆) are appearing in many U.S. cities, including Washington, D.C.
Remember that an hour long nap may be too long for young, healthy adults. It is recommended that 30 minut es is enough to remove the pressure(压力) to sleep and will help people feel more awake. If people nap longer, they will get trapped into deep sleep, which can be hard to get out of. If you have trouble falling asleep at night, limit your daytime nap to under 45 minutes. Also nap before 3 p.m.

The day before yesterday, when Pe ter’s family were having dinner, Father raised an interesting question, “Was there anything in our past that we feel ashamed of, guilty about, or regretted? Maybe we can find ways to say sorry, or take some action to right any wrongdoing.” This seemed like a very private matter, but Peter thought about it carefully the whole night.
Peter remembered an incident from middle school. In his school, there was a worker, Neil Stone, who none of the kids liked. One night, Peter and two of his classmates decided to play a trick on him. They found a can of red paint, and wrote on the school main road in bright red: Neil Stone is a fool! The next day, the whole school saw these words. Within two hours, Neil had Peter and his two classmates in his office. His classmates said that they had done it but Peter lied, denying the truth. No one ever talked about it.
This morning, Peter went back to his middle school. Neil Stone is still working there. “Sorry, Neil. Do you still remember what happened ten years ago? I want y ou to know that I did it.” “I knew it!’ Neil laughed. They had a good laugh and a lively discussion. Neil’s closing words were: “Peter, I always felt bad for you because your classmates got it off their mind, and I knew you were carrying it around all thes e years. I want to thank you for visiting me… for your sake.”

Everyone speaks a language, but language is not just for talking. It is our most important communication tool. Through language, we can tell other people what we think, how we feel, and what we need. In fact, civilization (文明) itself depends on our ability to communicate.
In the long history of human, languages survive, grow, disappear, move from place to place, and change with time. There are about 6,000 different living languages around the world today, and there are many thousands more that are no longer in use. Languages might sound different, but they are thought to have come from a single ancient language.
Nobody knows exactly when people first started using language. Some scientists say that people first spoke to one another about two million years ago.
Today, our sophisticated (复杂的) languages get fully used in the magazines, novels, science books, and movies that fill our libraries and bookstores. As human, it is important that we can tell the long stories, which separate us from the great apes (类人猿). Other animals may use various methods to communicate, but we humans send complicated messages through space and time.
Throughout history there were many languages that served as a lingua franca (通用语)— a common language that could serve as a bridge between people of different cultures. Today, English is the main language that plays that role around the world. Many people have studied English as a second or third language.
Language helps people to work together, to share knowledge, feelings, and build up modern societies. The development of humanity’s many languages was an important process that helped humans move forward toward civilization.

Household robots
With the development of modern science and technology, robots have entered our lives, which brings great convenience to us._______________________________________________
With the development of modern science and technology, robots have entered our lives, which brings great convenience to us. Household robots are now widely used in our daily lives. Household robots which look modern and fashionable are very popular with people. Also, we can see many kinds of household robots.
Household robots have many functions. Firstly, they can be used,to cook and clean rooms. Secondly, they can help to take care of the elderly. Moreover, they can even make calls to deal with something dangerous.
However, the technology used in household robots is not developed well enough to solve all problems. Sometimes, they may catch virus and cause safety problems.
In my opinion, robots should be used to improve people's lives. Scientists should make robots help us better by developing the technology. Also, I think the price is expected to be low enough for common people so that many people can afford on。
