2018年12月大学英语六级作文参考范文(第六篇)第6篇:Online CourseOnline course, as a new teaching method based on computer and Internet, allows teachers togive classes from a distance away.It is becoming more than popular in colleges and universities, and acts as an effectivecomplement to traditional teaching. However, opinions on it differ from teachers to students.Generally, teachers support it for two reasons:Firstly, online course can be conducted at home or office and this offers great convenience toteachers.Secondly, online course releases teachers from repeating the same contents since the video oraudio material can be played time and again. However, many students have opposite standpoints:In the first place, with online course, they lack face-to-face communications with teachers andtheir confusion cannot be solved instantly. In addition, the computer system cannot be guaranteed to work stably all the time.Whats more, they do not have 100 percent confidence in their self-discipline withoutteachers being around to supervise.Personally, with the college students growing up, if thetraditional teaching method and themodern ones like on-line course can be combined together, more fruitful education is sure tobe realized.。

You may not use any of the words in the bank more than once.Surfing the Internet during class doesn't just steal focus from the educator, it also hurts students who're already struggling to 26 the material . A new study from Michigan State University, though, argues that all students -- including high achievers -- see a decline in performance when they browse the Internet during class for non-academic purposes. To measure the effects of Internet-based distractions during class researchers 27 500 students taking an introductory psychology class at Michigan State University. Researchers used ACT scores as a measure of intellectual 28 . Because previous research has shown that people with high intellectual abilities are better at 29 out distractions, researchers believed students with high ACT scores would not show a 30 decrease in performance due to theiruse of digital devices. But students who surfed the web during class did worse on their exams regardless of their ACT scores, suggesting that even the academically smartest students are harmed when they’re distracted in class.College professors are increasingly 31 alarm bells about the effects smartphones laptops, and tablets have on academic performance. One 2013 study of college students found that 80% of students use their phones or laptops during class, with the average student checking their digital device 11 times in a 32 class.A quarter of students report that their use of digital devices during class causes their grades to 33 . Professors sometimes implement policies designed to 34 students' use of digital devices, and some instructors even confiscate tablets and phones. In a world where people are increasingly dependent on their phones, though, such strategies often fail. One international study found that 84% of people say they couldn't go a day without their smartphones. Until students are able to 35 the pull of social networking, texting, and endlessly surfing the web, they may continue to struggle in their classes.A)aptitudeB) eradicationC) evaluated D) evaporatedE)filteringF)graspG)legacyH)minimizeI)obscureJ) obsessK) raisingL)resistM) significantN) sufferO) typicalSection BDirections: In this section, you are going to read a passage with ten statements attached to it. We race to get all our ground work done: packing, going through security, doing a last-minute work call, calling each other, then boarding the plane. Then, when we try to have that amazing work session in flight, we get nothing done. Even worse, after refreshing our email or reading the same studies over and over, we are too exhausted when we land to soldier on with(继续处理)the emails that have inevitably still piled up.[B] Why should flying deplete us? We’re just sitting there doing nothing. Why can’t we be tougher, more resilient(有复原力的)and determined in our work so we can accomplish all of the goals we set for ourselves? Based on our current research, we have come to realize that the problem is not our hectic schedule or the plane travel itself; the problem comes from a misconception of what it means to be resilient, and the resulting impact of overworking.[C] We often take a militaristic, “tough” approach to resilience and determination like a Marine pulling himself through the mud, a boxer going one more round, or a football player picking himself up off the ground for one more play. We believe that the longer we tough it out, the tougher we are, and therefore the more successful we will be. However, this entire conception is scientifically inaccurate.[D] The very lack of a recovery period is dramatically holding back our collective ability to be resilient and successful. Research has found that there is a direct correlation between lack of recovery and increased incidence of health and safety problems. And lack of recovery —whether by disrupting sleep with thoughts of work or having continuous cognitive arousal by watching our phones —is costing our companies $62 billion a year in lost productivity.[E] And just because work stops, it does n’t mean we are recovering. We “stop” work sometimes at 5pm, but then we spend the night wrestling with solutions to work problems, talking about our work over dinner, and falling asleep thinking about how much work we’ll do tomorrow. In a study just released, researchers from Norway found that 7.8% of Norwegians have become workaholics(工作狂). The scientists cite a definition “workaholism”as “being overly concerned about work, driven by an uncontrollable work motivation, and investing so much time and effort in work that it im pairs other important life areas.”[F] We believe that the number of people who fit that definition includes the majoriy of American workers, which prompted us to begin a study of workaholism in the U.S. Our study will use a large corporate dataset from a major medical company to examine how technology extends our working hours and thus interferes with necessary cognitive recovery, resulting in huge health care costs and turnover costs for employers.[G] The misconception of resilience is often bred from an early age. Parents trying to teach their children resilience might celebrate a high school student staying up until 3am to finish ascience fair project. What a distortion of resilience! A resilient child is a well-rested one. When an exhausted student goes to school, he risks hurting everyone on the road with his impaired driving; he doesn’t have the cognitive resources to do well on his English test; he has lower self-control with his friends; and at home, he is moody with his parents. Overwork and exhaustion are the opposite of resilience and the bad habits we acquire when we’re young only magnify when we hit the workforce.[H] As Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz have written, if you have too much time in the performance zone, you need more time in the recovery zone, otherwise you risk burnout. Gathering your resources to “try hard” requires burning energy in order to overcome your currently low arousal level. It also worsens exhaustion. Thus the more imbalanced we become due to overworking, the more value there is in activities the allow us to return to a state of balance. The value of a recovery period rises in proportion to the amount of work required of us.[I] So how do we recover and build resilience? Most people assume that if you stop doing a task like answering emails or writhing a paper, your brain will naturally recover, so that when you start again later in the day or the next morning, you’ll have your energy back. But surely everyone reading this has had times when you lie in bed for hours, unable to fall asleep because your brains is thinking about work. If you lie in bed for eight hours, you may have rested, but you can still feel exhausted the next day. That’s because rest and recovery are not the same thing. Stopping does not equal recovering.[J] If you’re trying to build resilience at work, you need adequate internal and external recovery periods. As researchers Zijlstra, Cropley and Rydstedt write in their 2014 paper: “Internal recovery refers to the shorter periods of relaxation that take plac e within the frames of the work day or the work setting in the form of short scheduled or unscheduled breaks, by shifting attention or changing to other work tasks when the mental or physical resources required for the initial task are temporarily depleted or exhausted. External recovery refers to actions that take place outside of work—e.g. in the free time between the work days, and during weekends, holidays or vacations.” If after work you lie around on your bed and get irritated by political commentary on your phone or get stressed thinking about decisions about how to renovate your home, your brain has not received a break from high mental arousal states. Our brains need a rest as much as our bodies do.[K] If you really want to build resilience, you can start by strategically stopping. Give yourself the resources to be tough by creating internal and external recovery periods. Amy Blankson describes how to strategically stop during the day by using technology to control overworking. She suggests downloading the Instant or Moment apps to see how many times you turn on your phone each day. You can also use apps like Offtime or Unplugged to create tech free zones by strategically scheduling automatic airplane modes. The average person turns on their phone 150 times every day. If every distraction took only 1 minute, that would account for 2.5 hours a day.[L] In addition, you can take a cognitive break every 90 minutes to charge your batteries. Try to not have lunch at your desk, but instead spend time outside or with your friends—not talking about work. Take all of your paid time off, which not only gives you recovery periods, but raises your productivity and likelihood of promotion.[M] As for us, we’ve started using our plane time as a work-free zone, and thus time to dip into the recovery phase. The results have been fantastic. We are usually tired already by the time we get on a plane, and the crowded space and unstable internet connection make work more challenging. Now, instead of swimming upstream, we relax, sleep, watch movies, or listen to music. And when we get off the plane, instead of being depleted, we feel recovered and ready to return to the performance zone.36. It has been found that inadequate recovery often leads to poor health and accidents.37. Mental relaxation is much needed, just as physical relaxation is.38. Adequate rest not only helps one recover, but also increases one’s work efficiency.39. The author always has a hectic time before taking a flight.40. Recovery may not take place even if one seems to have stopped working.41. It is advised that technology be used to prevent people from overworking.42. Contrary to popular belief, rest does not equal recovery.43. The author has come to see that his problem results from a misunderstanding of the meaning of resilience.44. People’s distorted view about resilience may have developed from their upbringing.45. People tend to think the more determined they are, the greater their success will be. Section CDirections: There are 2 passages in this section. Each passage is followed by some questionsor unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A), B), C)and D). You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet 2 with a single line through the centre.Passage OneQuestions 46 to 50 are based on the following passage.Children with attention problems in early childhood were 40 percent less likely to graduate from high school, says a new study from Duke University that examines how early childhood characteristics affect academic performance.“There’s not a lot out there about how early attention problems affect academic outcomes over such a long time frame,” said David Rabiner, an associate dean of Duke’s Trinity College of Arts & Sciences and a faculty fellow of the Duke Center for Child and Family Policy. “This study is one of the first to focus on how attention problems as early as first grade relate to such an important educational outcome as high school graduation.”The study, published in School Psychology Review, included 386 kindergarteners from schools in the Fast Track Project, a multi-site clinical trial in the U.S. that in 1991 began tracking how children developed across their lives. With this study, researchers examined early academic, attention and socioemotional skills and how each contributed to academic success into young adulthood. They found early attention skills were the most consistent predictor of academic success, but that likability also had a modest effect on academic performance.By fifth grade, children with early attention difficulties had lower grades and reading achievement scores than their peers. As fifth-graders, children with early attention problems experienced average reading scores at least 3 percent lower than their contemporaries' and grades at least 8 percent lower than those of their peers. This was after controlling for IQ, socioeconomic status and academic skills at school entry.Although these may not seem like large effects, the impact of early attention problems continued to reverberate throughout the children's academic careers. Lower reading achievement scores and grades in fifth grade contributed to reduced grades in middle school and thereby contributed to a 40 percent lower high school graduation rate."The children we identified as having attention difficulties were not diagnosed with ADHD,although some may have had the disorder. Our findings suggest that even more modest attention difficulties can increase the risk for negative academic outcomes," said Rabiner, whose research has focused on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, and interventions to improve academic performance in children with attention difficulties.Social acceptance by peers in early childhood also predicted grades in fifth grade. Children who were not as liked by their first-grade peers had slightly lower grades in fifth grade, while those with higher social acceptance had higher grades.Researchers said this is the first study to use children's own reports of their peers' likability to look at whether peer relations can help predict academic outcomes when accounting for other factors such as early academic skills and attention problems."This study shows the importance of so-called 'non-cognitive' or soft skills in contributing to children's positive peer relationships, which, in turn, contribute to their academic success," said Kenneth A. Dodge, the director of the Duke Center for Child and Family Policy and a professor of public policy and neuroscience at the university. The results highlight the need to develop effective early interventions to help those with attention problems stay on track academically and for educators to encourage positive peer relationships, the researchers said.“We are learning that student success requires a more comprehensive approach, one that incorporates not only academic skills but also social, self-regulatory and attention skills,” Dodge said. “If we neglect any of these areas, the child’s development lags. If we attend to these areas, a child’s success may reinforce itself with positive feedback loops.”46. What is the focus of the new study from Duke University?A) The contributor to children’s early attention.B) The predictors of children’s academic success.C) The factors that affect children’s emotional well-being.D) The determinants of children’s development of social skills.47. How did the researchers ensure that their findings are valid?A) By attaching equal importance to all possible variables examined.B) By collecting as many typical samples as were necessary.C) By preventing them from being affected by factors not under study.D) By focusing on the family background of children being studied.48. What do we learn from the findings of the Duke study?A) Modest students are generally more attentive than their contemporaries.B) There are more children with attention difficulties than previously thought.C) Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder accounts for most academic failures.D) Children’s academic pe rformance may suffer from even slight inattention.49. What does the Duke study find about children better accepted by peers?A) They do better academically.B) They are easy to get on with.C) They are teachers’ favorites.D) They care less about grades.50. What can we conclude from the Duke study?A) Children’s success is related to their learning environment.B) School curriculum should cover a greater variety of subjects.C) Social skills are playing a key role in children’s development.D) An all-round approach should be adopted in school education.Passage TwoQuestions 51 to 55 are based on the following passage. On Jan. 9,2007, Steve Jobs formally announced Apple’s “revolutionary mobile phone”—a device that combined the functionality of an iPod, phone and Internet communication into a single unit, navigated by touch. It was a huge milestone in the development of smartphones, which are now owned by a majority of American adults and are increasingly common across the globe. As smartphones have multiplied, so have questions about their impact on how we live and how we work. Often the advantages of convenient, mobile technology are both obvious and taken for granted, leaving more subtle topics for concerned discussion: Are smartphones disturbing children’s sleep? Is an inability to get away from work having a negative impact on health? And what are the implications for privacy? But today, on the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, let’s take a moment to consider a less obvious advantage: the potential for smartphone technology to revolutionize behavioral science. That’s because, for the first time in human history, a large proportion of the species is in continuous contact with technology that can record key features of an individual’s behavior and environment.Researchers have already begun to use smartphones in social scientific research, either to query people regularly as they engage in their normal live or to record activity using the device’s built-in sensors. These studies are confirming, challenging and extending what’s been found using more traditional approaches, in which people report how they behaved in real life or participate in relatively short and artificial laboratory-based tasks.Such studies are just first steps. As more data are collected and methods for analysis improve, researchers will be in a better position to identify how different experiences, behaviors and environments relate to each other and evolve over time, with the potential to improve people’s productivity and wellbeing in a vari ety of domains. Beyond revealing population-wide patterns, the right combination of data and analysis can also help individuals identify unique characteristics of their own behavior, including conditions that could indicate the need for some form of intervention—such as an unusual increase in behaviors that signal a period of depression.Smartphone-based data collection comes at an appropriate time in the evolution of psychological science. Today, the field is in transition, moving away from a focus on laboratory studies with undergraduate participants towards more complex, real-world situations studied with more diverse groups of people. Smartphones offer new tools for achieving these ambitions, providing rich data about everyday behaviors in a variety of contexts. So here’s another way in which smartphones might transform the way we live and work: by offering insights into human psychology and behavior and, thus, supporting smarter social science.51.What does the author say about the negative impact of smartphones?A)It has been overshadowed by the positive impact.B)It has more often than not been taken for granted.C)It is not so obvious but has caused some concern.D)It is subtle but should by no means be overstated.52.What is considered a less obvious advantage of smartphone technology?A)It systematically records real human interactions.B)It helps people benefit from technological advances.C)It brings people into closer contact with each other.D)It greatly improves research on human behavior.53.What characterizes traditional psychological research?A)It is based on huge amounts of carefully collected data.B)It relies on lab observations and participants’ reports.C)It makes use of the questionnaire method.D)It is often expensive and time-consuming.54.How will future psychological studies benefit individuals?A)By helping them pin down their unusual behaviors.B)By helping them maintain a positive state of mind.C)By helping them live their lives in a unique way.D)By helping them cope with abnormal situations.55.What do we learn about current psychological studies?A)They are going through a period of painful transition.B)They are increasingly focused on real-life situations.C)They are conducted in a more rigorous manner.D)They are mainly targeted towards undergraduates.Part ⅣTranslation (30 minutes)Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to translate a passage from Chinese into English. You should write your answer on Answer Sheet 2.中国越来越重视公共图书馆,并鼓励人们充分加以利用。

2018年12月四级英语作文

2018年12月四级英语作文

2018年12月四级英语作文In the brisk winter of December 2018, the streets of London were adorned with festive lights and the air was filled with the spirit of anticipation and joy. It was a time when people from all walks of life came together to celebrate the end of a year and the beginning of another. Amidst this backdrop, a story unfolded that captured the essence of human perseverance and the relentless pursuit of excellence. The narrative centered around a group of university students who were preparing for their Level 4 English examination. The exam was known for its rigorous standards and was a milestone for many aspiring to achieve academic and professional success. The students, aware of the challenges ahead, dedicated themselves to mastering the language with a level of commitment that was both inspiring and daunting. As the days shortened and the nights grew colder, the students found warmth in the glow of their desk lamps and the camaraderie they shared. Their study sessions were intense, marked by lively discussions, meticulous analysis of texts, and the constant exchange of ideas. They delved into the intricacies of English grammar, the subtleties of idiomatic expressions, and the beauty of well-crafted prose. The library became their sanctuary, a place where they could immerse themselves in the world of literature and language. They pored over classic novels, dissected articles on current affairs, and practiced writing essays on a myriad of topics. Each essay was an opportunity to refine their skills, to articulate their thoughts with clarity and precision, and to weave a narrative that was both coherent and compelling. As the exam date approached, the students' determination only grew stronger. They challenged each other to push beyond their limits, to question, to critique, and to improve. The atmosphere was one of mutual support and shared goals, as they recognized that their individual successes were inextricably linked to the collective effort. On the day of the exam, the air was thick with anticipation. The students entered the examination hall with a sense of readiness, armed with the knowledge that they hadprepared to the best of their abilities. The exam papers were distributed, and as they turned over the pages, they knew that this was the moment to demonstrate their proficiency in English. The questions ranged from comprehension to composition, testing their ability to understand complex texts and to express their ideas with eloquence. They wrote with a focus that was unwavering, their pens moving swiftly across the paper, leaving behind a trail of words that reflected their understanding and their passion for the language. When the time was called, and the papers were collected, there was a palpable sense of relief and accomplishment. The students emerged from the hall, knowing that they had given their all, that they had risen to the challenge, and that they had grown not just in their knowledge of English but in their capacity to strive for excellence. As the city continued its festive celebrations, the students rejoined the throng, their hearts light and their spirits high. They had faced a formidable task, and they had emerged stronger, wiser, and more confident in their abilities. The experience had taught them that with dedication, hard work, and the support of one another, they could overcome any obstacle and achieve their dreams. And so, as the year drew to a close, the students looked forward to the future with optimism. They had conquered the Level 4 English exam, but more importantly, they had conquered their own doubts and fears. They had proven to themselves that they were capable of greatness, and they carried this knowledge with them as they stepped into the new year, ready for the adventures and opportunities that awaited them. 。

2018年12月英语六级满分作文精讲汇总cet6六级级作文范文:"Nowadays people are selfish and greedy." Do you agree ordisagree with this point of view? 你是否认可“现在的人自私和贪婪”这种观点"Nowadays people are selfish and greedy ." Do you agree or disagree with this pointof view? There is no doubt that some people are selfish and greedy. For example, some merchants selltheir fake commodities at the market place for more profit. They are rich and want to be richer. There are also government officials who sell people's trust. Senior officials who take bribes byselling the power in their hands are not a few. Those people believe in the precept "everyonefor himself and the devil take the hindmost."However, the majority of people are neither selfish nor greedy. They contribute much and askfor little. Countless examples can be found around us, the PLA soldiers whosacrificedthemselves for saving people's lives in fighting the disastrous floods and the warriors in whitewho risked their lives to save SARS victims being two of the most typical. In contr ast to theselfish and corrupt official they are heroes, who set up glorious images for us.The idea that nowadays people are selfish and greedy is probably attributed to the influence ofthe mass media which tend to over exaggerate the negative aspects of life. Among the various sections of the test, the English writing component stands as a crucial aspect for assessing the students' language proficiency. In this essay, we will delve into the first set of the English writing sample provided in the December 2018 CET-6 exam. The prompt of the first set required candidates to write an essay on the topic: "The Impact of T echnology on ModernSociety." This theme is both pertinent and expansive, inviting test-takers to explore the multifaceted influence of technology on contemporary life. The broad nature of the prompt allowed for a diverse range of responses, reflecting the candidates' individual perspectives and insights. One of the notable characteristics of the CET-6 writing sample is its emphasis on critical thinking and argumentation. Candidates were expected to articulate their viewpoints coherently while providing supporting evidence and examples. This requirement challenged test-takers to organize their thoughts effectively and present a persuasive argument within the constraints of time and word limit.Upon examining the responses to the prompt, it becomes evident that candidates approached the topic from various angles. Some focused on the positive aspects of technological advancement, highlighting its contributions to communication, healthcare, and education. They elaborated on how technology has facilitated global connectivity, revolutionized medical treatments, and transformed learning environments. These responses demonstrated an optimisticoutlook on the role of technology in shaping a better future for society.Conversely, other candidates adopted a more critical stance towards the influence of technology. They addressed concerns such as privacy infringement, social isolation, and job displacement resulting from automation. These responses underscored the ethical and social implications of rapid technological progress, urging for greater caution and regulation in its implementation. Moreover, certain candidates adopted a balanced approach, acknowledging both the benefits and drawbacks of technological innovation. They recognized the unprecedented opportunities afforded by technology while also acknowledging the need for ethical considerations and policy interventions to mitigate its negative consequences. These responses reflected a nuanced understanding of the complex interplay between technology and society. In terms of language proficiency, the writing sample showcased a range of linguistic skills among the candidates. While some demonstrated a mastery of vocabulary and grammar, effectively conveying their ideas with clarity and precision, others exhibited deficiencies in linguistic accuracy and coherence. 正确答案:Credit Card on Campus More and more college students currently are inclined to use credit cards in their daily life. They use credit cards to buy clothes in shopping malls, and subscribe books on the internet. But I think the use of credit card should be restricted. The reasons are as follows. First, it may lead to our financial crisis. We are often not aware of how much we have spent, not to mention the establishment of financial ability. Second, it may lead to our credit crisis. When the money is overdrawn, if you do not pay it back in time, the bank will record this improper behavior, and the file will last for 10 years. At last, it may put your privacy in danger. When the magnetic card does not work, it may expose your personal information to others. This may lead to the steal of the account or other crimes carried out in the name of you. To sum up, there are advantages and disadvantages of using credit card on campus. But taking balance of payments, credit and safety into consideration, I personally suggest that the use of credit card on campus should be restricted.解析:第一段:简要阐述大学生使用信用卡现象极为普遍,并陈述你的观点,即校园信用卡应该限制使用。

英语六级易考范文:Credit Cards on College Campus
As is shown in the chart, the percentage of collegestudents using credit cards has risen markedly inthe past few years.
An increasing number of students would rather usecredit cards than cash to pay for everything.
There are at least three factors accounting for theincreasing use of credit cards.
For one thing, a credit card will offer students a safeway to pay their tuition fees, thus it diminishes the risk of taking a large sum ofmoney with oneself.
For another, most credit cards provide a variety of services, such as a greater convenienceof shopping and spending, streamlining collection procedures, etc.
In addition, students can draw money with a credit card anytime they want, thus solve theproblem of money shortage.
As to the issue of credit cards on college campus, I am inclined to believe that it is not bad forcollege students to have credit cards, however, we’d better lay down some rules of the credit cards on college campus to stop themisconduct of credit cards, and only in this way can we enjoy the advantages of credit cards on college campus.。
