教学目标
通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标:

Step 1 Ask and answer
Ask the following questions for the students to answer.
●What time do you usually go to school?
●Is it important to be on time? Why?
Step 2 Presentation
Show some pictures to teach the new words and phrase shout, whisper, quarter, download, librarian, suddenly, rush, into and rush into.
You can shout. It is a good way to relax.

The boy whispers to his mom.

seven fifteen/fifteen past seven / a quarter past seven
n. 刻;四分之一
This picture is nice. I want to download it to my computer.

She works in the library. She is a librarian.

rush v. 冲;奔into prep. 进入;到……里
Step 3 Free talk
1. Let the students work in groups and discuss:
●Is there a library in your school?
●What can you do in the library?
●What can’t you do in the library?
2. Give them some hints if they have difficulty in answering the last two questions.
Possible answers:
Can do: read books; search information; borrow books
Can’t do: Don’t make noise.
No smoking.
No eating or drinking.
Step 4 Reading and answering
1. Get the class to look through the following questions. Make sure the class can u nderstand them. Then ask the class to read the lesson in order to find the answers.
(1)What time did Jenny and Bill meet to work on their project?
(2)Where are they now?
(3) What did the librarian help Jenny find?
(4) Who rushes into the library with a basketball?
(5)What project are they going to work on?
(6)What time did Danny tell Lisa to meet him?
(7)Where has Danny looked for Lisa?
2. Ask them to work out the answers in groups.
3. Elicit answers by asking individual students to read the sentences out.

Let the students read the lesson again and fill in the blanks.

Step 10 Pair work
T: Work in pairs. Make an appointment with your partner. Make up a dialogue and act it out. Example:

1. Jenny and Bill meet at 3 o’clock to work on their project.

work on从事;忙于
其中on为介词,后接名词(短语)、代词或动词-ing形式作宾语。

She can’t go with you. She is working on her homework.

2. Danny rushes into the library with a basketball in his hand. 丹尼手里拿着一个篮球冲进了图书馆。

(1)rush into冲进;匆忙进入
其后常接建筑物。

The young man was late, so he rushed into the train station.
这个年轻人迟到了,所以他冲进了火车站。

(2)rush v. 冲;奔
常用短语为rush out“冲出去”,rush out of“从……冲出来”。

He said nothing and rushed out. 他什么没说,冲了出去。

Class is over. The students rush out of the classroom.
下课了。

学生们从教室里冲了出来。

(3)with+宾语+宾语补足语
此处with a basketball in his hand 是with复合结构作伴随状语。

with复合结构由“with+宾语+宾语补足语”构成,在句中可作伴随、方式、原因状语等。

The girl stands there with a book in her hand.
这个女孩手里拿着一本书,站在那儿。

He goes to sleep with the light on.
他开着灯睡觉。

3. No noise, please! 请保持安静!
(1)no+名词/动词-ing 禁止/不要做某事
No photos! 禁止拍照!
No smoking! 禁止吸烟!
(2)noise n. 噪音,声响,喧哗声
既可用作可数名词,也可用作不可数名词。

Don’t make any noise because the baby is sleeping.
那个婴儿在睡觉,别出声。

Who is making those strange noises?谁弄出的那种怪声?
4. I told her to meet me at a quarter to three. 我告诉她两点四十五分来见我。

(1)a quarter 一刻钟
a quarter to three差一刻钟到三点,即两点四十五分。

下文中的a quarter after three意思是“三点一刻”。

【拓展】quarter 四分之一
a quarter of... ……的四分之一
A quarter of the students like football. 四分之一的学生喜欢足球。

(2)时刻表达
30分钟以内钟点+分钟9:15 nine fifteen
分钟+past+钟点9:15 a quarter past nine
30分钟时钟点+分钟9:30 nine thirty
half past +钟点9:30 half past nine
30分钟后钟点+分钟9:45 nine forty-five
分钟+to+(钟点+1) 9:45 a quarter to ten
