5 What’s New
The MPLAB®Code Configurator v3.0 Beta 2 provides incremental improvements to the original v3.0 Beta release. The v3.0 Beta 2 release supports additional PIC24 devices, and refines the functionality introduced the original v3.0 Beta release.
MCC v3.0 will deliver a complete redesign of the internals of the tool. MCC v3.0 will continue to
generate the same peripheral driver code generated by MCC v2.25.2. Adding to the MCC v2.xx
functionality v3.0 introduces new features and capabilities.
New User Interface. The user interface has new and modern look and feel. The need for ‘are you sure’ dialog boxes has been eliminated with the new Undo/Redo capability.
Undo and Redo. Changes made in MCC can now be undone and redone by using the MPLAB X IDE ‘Undo’ and ‘Redo’ buttons. Any changes made since the last Code Generation, or saving of the MCC configuration can be easily undone.
Registers View. The MCC v2.xx style user interface for configuring peripherals is now called the ‘Easy Setup’ interface. In addition to the Easy Setup interface, MCC v3.0 Beta also introduces a ‘Registers’ interface. The Registers interface allows users to review the register values that MCC calculates based on the configuration of the Easy Setup. But that is not all the Registers interface can do. The
experienced PIC developer can directly change the settings of the PIC SFRs in the MCC Registers interface.
Pin Sharing. Prior versions of MCC only allowed a single peripheral function to be assigned to any given pin. MCC v3.0 Beta expands the pin selection capabilities to expose the ability of PIC devices to share pins between peripherals.
Library Code Support. In addition to generating driver code to operation the device peripherals, MCC supported library code can be added directly to your project from within MCC. Libraries supported in the MCC v3.0 Beta include; Bootloader Generator, Ethernet, TCP/IP Lite, and mTouch.
