Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen: I’m Wu Qingrong from senoir one and it’s my great honor to be here to extend my warm welcome to all of you.Firstly, I’d like to introduce myself briefly.I’ve just graduated in English teaching from college and it is my first year to be a teacher.The one-month teaching experience makes me realize that English teaching is not as easy as ABC.As a matter of fact, I still have a long way to go.When I was once a postgraduate in college, I learned that education is actually the combination of teaching as well as learning.From my point of view, the students, instead of teachers, are the real masters of class.In our practical teaching, we should put their initiative into full play.While as for English teaching, it’s far from that.It is more than the transmission of knowledge, instead, it is the communication of different cultures.Though I have knew a thing or two about English teaching methodology, I’m still confronted with many challenges in teaching practice.Now, as an English teacher in Senior One, I’d like to introduce something about our students in English learning.Students in Senior One have just entered high school and therefore, they haven’t got themselves used to the studying of new phase.In general, they have two serious problems.The first one is that they have great difficulty in spoken English.Fearing to make mistakes, most of them are too shy to open their mouth.What’s worse, our students seriously lack background information of western cultures.As a result, they seem to be at a loss in reading and writing.Luckily, my foreign friends, you come.I do hope that you can give some tips to our students in English
learning, especially in speaking and reading.Of course, if you could provide valuable suggestions for our English teachers, we would appreciate it from the bottom of our heart.I believe all of us can get along well with each other, and benefit from each other in the following da ys.That’s all and thank you.
