Step 1 Warming up & Revision
1. Greet the class.
2. Review the words learnt last class,catch the helicopter.
3. Pair work to make a dialogue.
A: Do you know …?B: Yes, I do.
A: Who is he/ she? B: He/ She is our new ...teacher. A: Is he/ she …?B: …
4. Review the words learnt last period. Check up individuals to read and spell.
Step 2 Presentation & Practice
1. Show the picture of Xiaowanzi and ask Do you know her? What’s she like? And help the Ss answer with She is short/ young.
2. Show more pictures, ask and answer between T and Ss, Boys and Girls. What’s … like? He/ She is ….
3. Play a snowball game to practice the long sentence Ms Wang will be our new Chinese teacher.
4. Show the picture of Ms Wang and guess What is Ms Wang like? She is friendly/ quiet/ funny.
Then finish the exercise of Let’s try Listen and tick. Check the answer together.
5. Watch the flash video of Let’s talk and answer the questions Who is Ms Wang? Is she strict?
6. Watch the flash video again and check the answers, then focus on will be & sometimes and ask Ss to make some sentences.
7. Repeat the dialogue after the T. Work in pairs.
8. Ask some groups to the front of the class to perform their conversations. Praise their attempts.
Step 3 Consolidation & Extension
1. Fill in the blanks to consolidate the dialogue.
2. Pair work to talk about their friends. What are your friends like? Talk with your partner.
e.g. What’s Chen Jie like? She’s quiet.
3. Do exercises.
A. Write the questions according to the answers.
B. Change the sentences into general questions.
C. Translate the sentences.
Step 4 Summary & Homework
1. Summarize the key points in this lesson.
2. Do homework.
A. Act the dialogue with your partner.
B. Make a new dialogue.
