Chinese Special Economic Zones
Before the 1970s , our country faced a very bad situation . Economic development is not only imbalance but also lack of money . Beside , the technique and management fell behind . It was not possible to sovle all problems at a time . Our government tried its best to find a way to improve
the level of China’s economic development and then intergrate to the global . At the end of 1970s , China focused its development strategy on economic development and implemented the policy of reform and opening up . The development of Chinese Special Economic Zones has been one of the greatest achievements in that process . China has set up five special economic zones : Shenzong , Zhuhai, Xiamen, Shantou and Hainan .
We easily find out all these cities are along the coast , that is an absolute advantage . The coastal area is more soomth than inland , which is good for industrial position and the building of public infrastructure . International trade maily depends on sea transportation , the coastal cities have unique geographical advantages. They are also the nearest location of contacting with Taiwan, Hong Kong , Macao as well as foreign countries ; most overseas Chinese are from coastal cities , it will be more attractive for foreign capital and advanced technique to enter China’ market when economy of Special Economic Zones develops rapidly .
The whole country paid much attention to Special Economic Zones and looked forward to their success . Therefore , the government gave them more favorable policies in financing and
taxation , for example , credit support and export rebate . After more
than 30 years' efforts and striving , they have become international
metropolis , the quality of people’ living has significantly improved . Beautiful natural environment , busy commercial streets , convenient traffic , and good infrastructure attract many Chinese and foreign tourists . But the opening up is propelled to all over the country , Preferential policy has been widely adopted , the policy advantage has disappeared . In this condition , China's top leaders hope special economic zones build new creative advantages . Each special economic zone integrates itself with its own reality to find its new goal . They have focused on improving the quality of economy , the trend
of the industry advantages which is based on high technology industry and especial economy is clearer and clearer .
Special Economic Zones paly an extremely role in the process of China’s
development and advancement . Special economic zones are an example to all other cities in China . and have made an extremely important contribution to driving the development of national economy and accelerating the step of China integrating into global economy . Beside , with the enrollment extension of universities at end of 1990s , the supply of university graduates exceeds social demand and employment has gradually been a
pressing problem concerned by our government . Although affected by 2019 economic crisis , every year the five Special Economic Zones still provide college graduates with many employment opportunities . Even so , the task of our reform and opening-up is not seccussfully finished , on the contrary , it is always keeping pace with the times and will go further on the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics .
