英语作文关于大学生在社区服务的题目Community Service is Really Cool!
Hi everyone! My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. I'm in the 5th grade at Oakwood Elementary School. Today I want to tell you all about the super cool college students who come help out at my school and in my neighborhood. They do something called "community service" which is where they volunteer their time to help others. I think it's really awesome and inspiring!
At my school, we have several college students who come once a week to tutor kids like me after classes end. I get tutoring help in math from a nice girl named Jessica. She's a junior at the local university studying to be a teacher. Jessica is really good at explaining math concepts in a simple way I can understand. She uses graphics, analogies, and makes it pretty fun actually! Without her help, I know I would really struggle with topics like fractions and algebra.
Jessica tells me that doing community service tutoring is required for her education program, but she says she would probably volunteer anyway because she loves working with kids and wants to give back to her community. I can tell she has a ton
of patience and really cares about helping me improve. My math grades have gone way up thanks to her!
There's also a really cool community garden run by the environmental club at the university near my neighborhood. On weekends, college students come and help local kids like me plant vegetables, flowers, and take care of the garden. We learn about sustainability, composting, bees and pollination, and so much more! It's fun getting dirty and seeing the plants grow over time.
The garden provides fresh produce for a neighborhood food pantry that helps families who can't afford groceries. I feel really good knowing that by helping in the garden, I'm providing nutritious food for people in need. The college kids running it are super passionate about the environment and educating the community. I've decided I want to join my school's environment club next year because of them!
In addition to tutoring and gardening, I see college volunteers helping out at my local rec center, library, animal shelter and all over my town. They run sports clinics, coding camps, robotics clubs, you name it! My friends and I are always so excited when they come because we know it will be an
awesome, educational experience. The college students make usually boring subjects really intriguing and interactive.
I remember a couple years ago, this guy named Mario came to my after-school program to teach us computer programming. He was studying computer science and made us do all these fun activities and games to learn coding basics. We even got to build little robots! Mario made it look so cool that now I'm seriously considering being a computer programmer when I grow up. Maybe I'll even attend the same university he went to.
The college kids give up their free time to share their knowledge and skills with kids in the community. They could be at home watching Netflix or hanging out with friends, but instead they choose to volunteer. I think that is really honorable and selfless of them. It shows they care about education, helping others, and making their community a better place.
Whenever I see the college volunteers, I'm reminded how much I admire and look up to them. They are just a few years older than me, but they feel like a million miles ahead in terms of being mature, smart, and successful. At the same time, they are still goofy, fun-loving people who can really relate to kids. I always feel comfortable around them and not intimidated to ask questions.
I hope that when I'm in college someday, I can follow in their footsteps and do community service too. Learning from the college students has taught me so many crucial life skills - from academics to leadership to civic engagement. More importantly though, their commitment to volunteering has shown me how important it is to be a good citizen and use your privileges to lift up others. Even though I'm just a kid, I can still make a positive impact in small ways like they do.
Seeing the college kids cheerfully tutoring, gardening, coaching, and mentoring is truly an inspiration. They restore my faith in humanity and show that the future is in good hands with caring, hardworking leaders like them. Teachers and parents are awesome, but there's something special about cool college volunteers giving back. We students really look up to them as role models.
So that's my two cents on why community service done by college students is the best! Wherever I go in my town, I see their impact - from smarter students, to greener neighborhoods, to better programming for kids. We're all so lucky to have them enhancing our education and community resources. I already can't wait to head off to university in eight years so I too can start
volunteering! I hope I can be as helpful and inspiring to kids as the college students are to me.。
