三．词语学习

population

population是个集合名词，意思是“人口；人数”，在日常使用时，必须注意以下几种用法：（1）population在句中作主语时，谓语动词多用单数形式。如：

The population of Germany is about 81,000,000. 德国大约有八千一百万人口。

（2）表示某国、某城市有多少人口时，可用have a population of...结构。如：

The city has a population of 50,000. 那座城市有五万人。

（3）对人口进行提问，应用What / How large。

（4）不用many/few/much/little修饰population，而用large, big或small修饰。
