Despite the c ompound subjects introduced by “and”, the singular “student” at the end of the list requires a singular verb form. Thus, “is” is the correct choice. Dear Echo: We had a long discussion with the kitchen cabinet contractor today (having gone through and tested the cleaning process again), and we agreed as below: They will install the sink and worktop now, and cover with wooden board to protect the sinks The contractor will help us to clean up with water and the powder sometime around Q4 2013, right before handover the apartments to apartment buyers. Expected 90% case shall be accepted We will ask developer (as additional support from Franke product) to keep copy of the cleaning instruction and the cleaning powder, in case the rest 10$% apartment buyers ask for help If case there are still cases cannot be settled after above finally, which from the contractor’s experience also expected to be very small percentage, we than sort out case by case together The above is a balance solution, assuming the stains can mostly be removed with water and the powder, also considered to bring it low-profile against developer (the contractor agreed not to talk about it to developer), and settle between us and the contractor (the boss is our friend). Cost-wise, please assume HK$ 800/man-day, and can clean 20-30pcs/man-day. The contractor will not charge us now, and will see how it goes until Q4. Plus free replacement of sinks in case scratched during cleaning. I think, with the contractor’s commitment to help, the case can be solved in this way relatively less trouble and keep our image to owner Cheung Kong (not to affect the on-going discussion of the bulk order). Please advise if you have different idea, otherwise we will proceed like above.
