第三课时Lesson 45:Baseball Season

教学目标

1.掌握单词:baseball, pop, if, ever, shame

短语:play against, the name of,take…out, root for…, etc.。

2.掌握和运用关于棒球运动的句型:

This summer,I am going to play baseball for the Tigers.

“Tigers” is the name of my team.

Baseball is my favourite sport.

My team and I will usually practice in the morning.

And some evenings, we will play just for fun.

On weekends, we will often play against other teams.

My family and friends will come and watch me play.

They’ll all sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and they’ll buy snacks and pop at the game. Baseball is a fun sport for everyone.

I love baseball season!

教学过程StepⅠ.Lead in

Leading in 【情景1】

Show some pictures of baseball to the students.Ask them to observe and find out the rules of baseball.Point to the pictures.Ask the students questions:

T:What are they doing?

S1:They are playing baseball.

T:What do you know about baseball?

S2:It began in the U.K.

S3:It’s a team ball game

S4:Each team has at least nine players.

S5:It is popular in the U.S.and Japan.

S6:It was played at the Olympics in 1992.

S7:Alexander Joy Cartwright is the father of baseball.He is from America.

[设计意图]本课内容和棒球运动有关,故以“看图画,说一说”的形式,熟悉有趣的棒球运动,了解棒球运动的规则,并活跃课堂气氛。同时引入在之后学习中会使用到的词汇、短语和句型。

Leading in 【情景2】

Work in groups.Ask the students to search the Internet and find something about baseball.They may talk about the following questions:

(1)Where did it begin?

(2)How many players does a team have?

(3)Is it an Olympic event?

(4)What do people do when they watch the baseball game?

After a few minutes, ask the groups to give a speech in front of the class.

Group 1:Baseball began in the U.K.But later it became popular in the U.S.Many people like playing baseball in the summer.It became an Olympic event in 1992.Each team has at least nine players.They play against other teams.Their family and friends will come and watch them play.They’ll sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and they’ll buy snacks and pop at the game.Baseball is a fun sport for everyone!

[设计意图]学生们根据在网上搜到的信息,谈论自己对棒球的所见所闻,同学们充分调动查到的信息和学过的知识来描述自己的经历,有利于活跃气氛,引入棒球的话题。

StepⅡ.Presentation

1.Teacher should teach the new words and phrases in this part:baseball, pop, if, ever, shame, play against, the name of, play against, take…out, root for….Teacher leads the students to learn the new words and phrases.Teacher can use the pictures.

T:Can you play baseball?

S1:Sorry,I can’t.

T:Now read after me“baseball”.

S:Baseball.

T:What’s this in the picture?

S:It’s a can of pop.

T:Now read after me“pop”.

S:Pop.

2.The students work in pairs.Try to make sentences with the new words and expressions.

T:Now let’s try to make more sentences with the words and expressions in pairs.

S1:Look!What is the name of this sport?

S2:It’s baseball.

S1:What are the teams doing?

S2:They are playing against each other.

S1:Can I take my brother out to watch the game?

S2:Of course.

S1:Can I eat some snacks when I watch the game?

S2:Sure.You can eat and drink something you like.

S1:Can we take photos there?

S2:I think you can.

[设计意图]先让学生们学会新的单词和短语,然后用对话的形式让同学们练习。有利于同学们充分利用自己的时间来练习,让所有的同学都有兴趣参与课堂活动。
