The review of Flipped
Flipped, acted by Madeline Carroll and Callan McAuliffe, which tells us a love story between the actor and actress at different sides. It shows us the character development of hero and heroine through simple plots.
Juli, the actress, who has adored a boy ever since he moved into the neighborhood in the scend grade. She even likes his smell very much. At the same time, Bryce also turned to Juli’s class. However, un til the graduate of elemetary school, Bryce has no feeling for Juli and does everything he can do to get rid of her, but it seems uneasy way to do this. Because they go to the same school and live across the street from each other.
In the junior high schoo l, they become the classmates again. What’s more, Juli’s passion for Bryce is still increasing. However, under the influence of father, Bryce is becoming more and more disgusted with Juli’s. He does many bad things to Juli. What’worse, he laughed at Juli’s mentally disabled uncle.
As time passed by ,Juli began to realize the words of her father:” A painting is more than the sum of its parts. A cow by iteself is just as a cow. A meadow by iteself is just grass, flowers. And the sun peeking through the trees is just a beam of light. Y ou should put them together.” It seems to be that Bryce do not have irresistable attraction for her anymore. But at the side of Bryce, from the hate of Juli at the beginning to flipped, he began to realize the inner beauty of Juli and fell in love with her. He deeply realizes the words of his grandfather: Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss. But every once in a while you find someone who’s iridescent, and when you do, nothing will ever compare……
The whole movie ,which impressed me most is Juli’s love for sycamore tree. At an ossasional chance, Juli climbed the vibrant solid stable tree. The higher she climbed , the happier she is. On the tree, she said: The higher I got, the more amazed I was by the view. Some days the sunsets would be purple and pink. And some days they were a blazing orange setting fire to the clouds on the horizon. It was during one of those sunsets that my father's idea of the whole being greater than the sum
of its parts moved from my head to my heart.” Through these words ,we know that Juli is a very clever beautiful and simple girl.
When you are 12 years old and to 13 years in such a stage……
Juli is very lucky, she met a boy which she love him at the first sight.
Maybe what makes “flipped” such a warm entertainment is how it re-creates life we wish we’d had when we were 14. That’s true for adults, and also I suspect true for some 14-year-olds. In a way the audience flips, too.。
