Group Project HandoutEach group of three to four students will interview two full-time employees (meaning they work external to the home for pay for about 40 hours a week or more). The employees certainly can be family members or friends who are good at negotiation or negotiate a lot. Alternatively you may seek to find multiple individuals within one industry or master negotiators (individuals who have great expertise in business negotiations). Do not interview members of the faculty or staff at SMU, NUS, or NTU.The OBHR Negotiation faculty have come up with a list of possible topics and included these in the Interview Guide. These are below and posted on our course website. You should choose three or four topics from this guide to cover in your paper.As interviewers, per SMU policy you will use an Informed Consent Form and secure the signature of each interviewee. The Informed Consent Forms should be attached to the final hardcopy of the group paper as appendices.A good paper is descriptive and analytical, with references to relevant popular-press and theoretical articles. The purpose of the group paper is to describe and analyze the negotiating practices of interviewees on three or four topics. The analysis should include course material covered and at least one additional source.Your paper should be no more than five pages of text (excluding references and appendices, which may be up to three pages). Because I’m often asked, here is what I strongly prefer for formatting:o No cover and no cover page – just white paper and stapled: your interview guide (1-2 pages), text pages (up to 5 pages), references and appendices (up to 3 pages), consentforms (3 separate pages), and a final page with your names listed surname first.o Especially the text pages: Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1.5 spacing between lines, about 1” marginsYour paper (and the reference section) should cite references clearly. We each took a different Native American tribe to focus on. I chose the Chumash tribe since they lived along the coast near where I live now.Doing the research was kind of hard at first. The library books used a lot of big words I didn't know. But we helped each other out when someone got stuck. Like when Miguel couldn't figure out what "subsistence living" meant, Jessica explained it in a way that made sense. We took notes on important facts about the tribes' daily life, beliefs, shelters, food, and more.Once we gathered all our research, we had to decide how to present it. Mr. Johnson said we could make posters, put togethera skit, create a PowerPoint presentation, or get really creative with drawings, dioramas, or models. Our group voted and we decided to make a big mural showing the different tribes' ways of life side-by-side. We're all pretty good at art, so it seemed like a fun way to go.We split up the mural into sections, one for each tribe. Everyone worked on sketching out their part first. I drew the Chumash village with their cone-shaped houses called 'aps. I tried to include lots of details like people weaving baskets, cooking by the fires, and kids playing games based on the research I had done. Samantha made this awesome scene of the Pomo tribe grinding acorns and doing other food prep. Miguel focused on showing how the Miwok tribe made boats and caught fish. It was so cool to see each part come together into one huge artwork!We spent a couple weeks drawing, painting, and decorating the mural during our free class time. I have to admit there were a few moments when we started bickering over what colors to use or who would get to add certain details. But Mr. Johnson reminded us to compromise and stay focused on our goal of making the best mural ever. By working together and being patient with each other, we figured things out.Finally, it was time to present our projects to the whole class and even some parents who came in for the presentations. I was pretty nervous about having to talk in front of everybody, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. We decided to each talk about the tribe we had focused on for the mural. That way it didn't feel like just one person had to do all the talking. We answered questions at the end too about what we had learned.I was so proud when people complimented our hard work on the mural. Mr. Johnson said he could tell we had really researched our topics in-depth and worked cooperatively as a team. He gave us an A+ and hung our mural up in the hallway for everyone to see! I think I'll always remember that project and how awesome it felt to create something so big and detailed by working together with my friends. We rocked that assignment!。

GROUP PROJECT:In your project you are to explore the possibilities, problems and requirements involved in establishing a retail operation. This project should be done in a group. If you join a group, all members of the group will receive the same project grade. A written report is required. Near the end of the semester, an oral presentation not to exceed twenty minutes of the projects will be done. Each member of the group should participate in this oral presentation. Emma wanted to test soda while I thought juice would be more interesting. Liam had a different idea too! But eventually we compromised and decided to test water, juice, and milk. It was really great working together because if I had to do it all alone, it would have taken forever!By splitting up the work, we got it done super fast.
