How important do you think it is to protect old buildings
As modernisation develops,many problems emerges from the processing of replacing unusable or outdated things by what is new or more effective.And conflict like this is more likely to affect citizens living in urban areas or cities themselves,therefore,the future of the large number of old buildings in cities draw the public's attention.
It's accepted that much precious information which is important to our civilisation of mankind is carried by historic buildings,moreover, recording by historic buildings is much ealier than exact words.Considering the vital importance of them,old buidings have been protected by many organisations at an international level.
However,some people argue that the protection of old buildings has brought in considerable hindrance to the progress of the society.They claim that places where there are supposed to be city infrastructures or more reasonable buildings are covered with mussy and unordered old buildings.For example,the central district of Beijing is filled with a large number of shabby houses,which actually bring in convenience to some people and bad impact to the image of the city.
But from my perspective,the defination of importance of old buidings should be considered first.By that I mean sometimes what are perceived as historic buildings are merely old stores and residence without any value,viewed from this angle,what wo should endeavour to cherish and protect are those which carry essential information of the history of one city or which are able to recall precious memory of the local citizens,instead of those which are merely called old.
Overall,I suppose the what is important to encourage the development of the society as well as conserve the diverse culture of cities is making it clear which old buildings are worthy preserving and which are not.。
