Direction LEDs (Indicators) The appropriate LED will illuminate continuously to indicate the commanded direction of rotation. If the second LED is flashing, the drive has been commanded to change direction, but is still decelerating. Important: Actual motor rotation could be different if motor leads are not connected properly. Refer to Chapter 4 of the User Manual for details on how to verify motor rotation.
Stop Pressing the Stop key will cause the motor to stop, using the selected stop mode. Refer to the P34 - [Stop Mode] parameter. If the drive has stopped due to a fault, pressing this key will clear the fault. Reverse (Change Direction) Pressing this key causes the motor to ramp down to 0 Hz and then ramp up to its set speed in the opposite direction. When the motor is running, pressing this key causes the (currently illuminated) LED to flash, indicating motor rotation while decelerating to zero. The other LED will illuminate indicating the commanded direction.

The circuitry is fully active at supply voltages above +7V, and provides up to 20mA of load current to external circuitry at +5.0V. In systems where additional current is required, an external PNP transistor can be used to boost the available current. A rugged low fre-quency audio-type transistor should be used, and leadlengths between the PWM and transistor should be as short as possible to minimize the risk of oscillations. Even so, some types of transistors may require collec-tor-base capacitance for stability. Up to 1 amp of load current can be obtained with excellent regulation if the device selected maintains high current gain.Soft-Start CircuitThe soft-start circuit protects the power transistors and rectifier diodes from high current surges during power supply turn-on. When supply voltage is first applied to the UC1526A, the under-voltage lockout circuit holds RESET LOW with Q3. Q1 is turned on, which holds the soft-start capacitor voltage at zero. The second collector of Q1 clamps the output of the error amplifier to ground, guaranteeing zero duty cycle at the driver outputs. When the supply voltage reaches normal operating range, RESET will go HIGH. Q1 turns off, allowing the internal 100µA current source to charge C S. Q2 clamps the error amplifier output to 1V BE above the voltage on C S. As the soft-start voltage ramps up to +5V, the duty cycle of the PWM linearly increases to whatever value the voltage regulation loop requires for an error null.Under-Voltage LockoutThe under-voltage lockout circuit protects the UC1526A and the power devices it controls from inadequate sup-ply voltage, If +V IN is too low, the circuit disables the output drivers and holds the RESET pin LOW. This pre-vents spurious output pulses while the control circuitry is stabilizing, and holds the soft-start timing capacitor in a discharged state.The circuit consists of a +1.2V bandgap reference and comparator circuit which is active when the reference voltage has risen to 3V BE or +1.8V at 25°C. When the reference voltage rises to approximately +4.4V, the cir-cuit enables the output drivers and releases the RESET pin, allowing a normal soft-start. The comparator has 350mV of hysteresis to minimize oscillation at the trip point. When +V IN to the PWM is removed and the refer-ence drops to +4.2V, the under-voltage circuit pulls RE-SET LOW again. The soft-start capacitor is immediately discharged, and the PWM is ready for another soft-start cycle.The UC1526A can operate from a +5V supply by con-necting the V REF pin to the +V IN pin and maintaining thesupply between +4.8 and +5.2V.Digital Control PortsThe three digital control ports of the UC1526A are bi-di-rectional. Each pin can drive TTL and 5V CMOS logic di-rectly, up to a fan-out of 10 low-power Schottky gates. Each pin can also be directly driven by open-collector TTL, open-drain CMOS, and open-collector voltage comparators; fan-in is equivalent to 1 low-power Schot-tky gate. Each port is normally HIGH; the pin is pulled LOW to activate the particular function. Driving SYNC LOW initiates a discharge cycle in the oscillator. Pulling SHUTDOWN LOW immediately inhibits all PWM outputpulses. Holding RESET LOW discharges the soft-start Figure 3.Soft-Start Circuit Schematiccapacitor. The logic threshold is +1.1V at +25°C. Noise immunity can be gained at the expense of fan-out with anexternal 2k pull-up resistor to +5V.OscillatorsThe oscillator is programmed for frequency and dead time with three components: R T, C T and R D. Two wave-forms are generated: a sawtooth waveform at pin 10 for pulse width modulation, and a logic clock at pin 12. The following procedure is recommended for choosing timing values:1. With R D= 0Ω(pin 11 shorted to ground) select values for R T and C T from the graph on page 4 to give the de-sired oscillator period. Remember that the frequency at each driver output is half the oscillator frequency, and the frequency at the +V C terminal is the same as the oscilla-tor frequency.2. If more dead time is required, select a larger value of R D. At 40kHz dead time increases by 400ns/Ω.3. Increasing the dead time will cause the oscillator fre-quency to decrease slightly. Go back and decrease the value of R T slightly to bring the frequency back to the nominal design value.The UC1526A can be synchronized to an external logic clock by programming the oscillator to free-run at a fre-quency 10% slower than the SYNC frequency.A periodic LOW logic pulse approximately 0.5µs wide at Error AmplifierThe error amplifier is a transconductance design, with an output impedance of 2MΩ. Since all voltage gain takes place at the output pin, the open-loop gain/frequency characteristics can be controlled with shunt reactance to ground. When compensated for unity-gain stability with 100pF, the amplifier has an open-loop pole at 800Hz. The input connections to the error amplifier are deter-mined by the polarity of the switching supply output volt-age. For positive supplies, the common-mode voltage is +5.0V and the feedback connections in Figure 6A are used. With negative supplies, the common-mode voltage is ground and the feedback divider is connected between the negative output and the +5.0V reference voltage, asshown in Figure 6B.the SYNC pin will then lock the oscillator to the external frequency.Multiple devices can be synchronized together by pro-gramming one master unit for the desired frequency, and then sharing its sawtooth and clock waveforms with the slave units. All C T terminals are connected to the C T pin of the master and all SYNC terminals are likewise con-nected to the SYNC pin of the master. Slave R T termi-nals are left open or connected to V REF. Slave R D terminal may be either left open or grounded.Figure 4. Loads can be driven either from the output pins 13 and 16, or from the +V C , as required.Since the bottom transistor of the totem-pole is allowed to saturate, there is a momentary conduction path from the+V C terminal to ground during switching; however, im-proved design has limited this cross-conduction period to less than 50ns. MAX33251EELC+General DescriptionThe MAX33250E and MAX33251E are isolated2Tx/2Rx and1Tx/1Rx RS-232transceivers,respectively,with a galvanic isolation of600V RMS(60sec)between the logic UART side and field side.The isolation barrier protects the logic UART side from electrical transient strikes from the field side.It also breaks ground loops and large dif-ferences in ground potentials between the two sides that can potentially corrupt the receiving and sending of data. The MAX33250E and MAX33251E conform to the EIA/ TIA-232E standard and operate at data rates up to1Mbps. Then press the power button to turn it on.Software Installation for MacSATA Connection for MacOS X 10.2 and aboveG-S350SU has built in eSATA port for you to take advantage of high throughput performance. At the moment when this manual is written, none of Mac computers has built-in external SATA port accessible to connect G-S350SU enclosure. Current solution is to add a third-party Mac compatible PCI or ExpressCard to SATAII or SATAI host controller adapter with eSATA port or SATA port (with “L” shaped key type). When SATA port is available, please get a SATA cable with proper eSATA and/or SATA connectors on both ends to connect G-S350SU to your Mac, then follow steps below to use G-S350SU enclosure:1. When computer is powered off, attach G-S350SU to the SATA port of the computer.2. Turn on G-S350SU first, then power on your Mac.3. After Mac OS boots up, it will recognize it automatically, ask you to initialize the newdrive if it was not initialized yet, and mount the drive on desktop.Above described connection and power sequence is referred to as Hot Boot. There aretotal five power sequence modes by which an external hard drive can possibly be usedwith a computer system. They are defined as follows:Hot Boot – Computer is off, enclosure is on and is attached to computer. In this case, please follow the procedures in next section to partition and format it before using.Hard Drive Partition and Format procedures in PC Windows 2000/XP/Vista:If a new hard disk icon dose not appear in “My Computer”, check device manager under system in the control panel. Then double click on “Disk Drives” to see if a new entry appears.If you can see a new entry as shown (Example, WDC WD80 OBB-32BSA0) above, you are ready to partition and format the drive.1. Open Control panel, “Administrative Tools” and “Computer management”.Step 22. Click on “Disk Management”.Step 33. “Write Signature and Upgrade Disk Wizard” windows will show up and click “Next”.Step 4 4. Write a signature to the new drive, click “Next”.Step 5 5. Click “Finish” to close the wizard.Step 66. Select the new “Unallocated” disk, and then right click to choose “Create partition”.Step 77. SATA starts with 1.5Gb/s specification, and evolves to 3.0Gb/s specification, which is commonly referred to as SATA II. Hence, original SATA 1.5Gb/s is called SATA I to distinguish with SATA II 3.0Gb/s.Initially SATA was designed as an internal or inside-the-box interface technology for storage device like HDD. Both SATA I and SATA II hard drives use plug and receptacle interface with “L” shaped key as shown below.This connectors and cable(flat) with “L” shaped key support both SATA 1.5Gb/s and 3.0Gb/s, however the cable length is limited to 1m(around 3.3 feet) maximum.As shown above, it is more and more common to find a new type of SATA receptacle in the system or PCI/ExpressCard host card and plug(without “L” shaped key), called eSATA. eSATA becomes a standard for external SATA peripherals. How should I disconnect G-S350SU safely from the computer? After I disconnect the SATA enclosure, why does the drive icon still stay on the desktop of MacOS X?A2: In USB connection, in Windows PC, please click “Safely remove USB mass storage device –Drive letter” line inside Safely Remove Hardware icon on the System Tray; In Mac computer, please trash the external drive icon. Then disconnect G-S350SU from the system.In SATA connection, depending on the SATA host controller(and sometimes OS) you use, some controllers support hot plug and unplug function, some don’t. You have to find out its capability. To prevent data corruption, the safest way to disconnect SATA cable or power off G-S350SU isto shut down computer first.SATA drive (or SATA connection) is not treated essentially as removable device to the most of systems if not all. That is why there is no eject icon associated to SATA drive in Finder of Mac OS X, and System Tray in Windows has no Remove Hardware option for SATA drive. Therefore, when the SATA drive is connected, some system still keeps SATA drive icon, you just won’t be able to use the drive until you connect it back.Q3.
