7-1 introducing the Services of the Business Center

Scene: Mr. Bellow (B) calls the business center in the morning.

Clerk(C): Good morning ,this is Henry Bellow calling from room 908. would you mind giving me some information .in your services?

C: Certainly not, Mr. Bellow. We have comprehensive communication facilities and secretarial assistance catering to the needs of all our business guests.

B: I have some documents to be typed at the moment and I hope they will be ready before 3:00 PM today.

C: How many pages are they in all?

B: It will be about 20 pages.

C: Well, it's rather a tough job, but we'll try our best, Mr. Bellow.

B: Good. I'd really appreciate it if it could be arranged.

7-2 About the Fax Service

Scene: Mr. Bellow (B) is expecting an incoming fax from a client. He asks the Business Center for the information.

Clerk (C): Good morning, sir. May I help you?

B: Good morning. My name is Bellow, Henry Bellow. I am expecting a fax from a client in Shanghai.

C: Just a moment, Mr. Bellow. Let me have a check. May I know your client’s name?

B: Yes. The name is Shanghai International Training Center.

C: Oh, I am sorry. I am afraid we haven’t got it up to now.

B: But I was told they would fax it to me this morning.

C: Don't worry. Mr. Bellow. Please leave your room number and we will send it up to your room as soon as we get it.

B: OK. My room number is 908.

C: Is there anything else, Mr. Bellow?

B: Oh, please send this fax to New York.

C: Yes, sir. May I have the fax number?

B: Here you are. It's 212456 - 3663.

C: Would you mind signing your name on the bill here? It will be on your account? B: Certainly not. Here you are.

7-3 Dealing with the Telephone Problem

Scene: Mr. Bellow (B) complains about the telephone problem to the operator (O). O: Good morning, Operator speaking. May I help you?

B: Morning. This is Bellow calling from Room 908. I’ve tried to ring my boss in New York twice this morning and both times. I was cut off.

O: I am sorry to hear that. Did you actually speak to the person in New York, Mr. Bellow?

B: Yes, it was the same both times. We spoke for about twenty seconds and then the connection was broken.

O: I am awfully sorry for that, Mr. Bellow. That certainly should not have happened.

May I have his number?

B: Yes, the number is 001, 212, 5557878.

O: All right, Mr. Bellow. Let me try the number again and see if the fault is in their equipment or in ours. I’ll call back as soon as I can.

B: Good. Thank you very much.

O: You are welcome.
