A “talking kitchen” teaches students how to cook French dishes and speak French。
Researchers at New Castle University have developed the French Digital Kitchen. Professors Paul Seedhouse and Patrick Olivier led the project。
Professor Seedhouse says that it works like a satellite navigation system (卫星导航系统)in a car。
The kitchen equipment and tools use motion sensor(运动传感器) technology similar to the Nintendo Wii game system。
The sensors help a computer guide the students through instructions in French。
The system can tell whether you've done what you were asked to do or not。
For example, the system tells you to take some butter and cut it with a knife. There’s a sensor on the package containing the butter so it can tell where the butter’s being moved. The sensor in the knife not only knows that the knife is moving, but it also knows what motion the knife is making. So it can tell whether the kni fe is being used. And so it doesn’t go on to the next stage of the program unless you’ve done what it tells
you to do。
Students can ask the computer to repeat the instructions or translate them into English。
There are vocabulary lessons before and after the cooking。
Professor Seedhouse became interested in the idea after he visited a talking kitchen designed for a different purpose. “It was actually for communicating with people who suffer from dementia (痴呆)” .And so, for example,it can speak to those peop le and tell them that they’ve left the cooker on and they should turn it off.”
67。

We all know a wagging (摇摆的)tail means the dog is friendly。
71 However, a dog wagging its tail also may be scared or ready for a fight。
Here are some tips on how to understand a dog’s body language.
When you see a dog whose tail is wagging wide and fast, the message is almost always “Glad to see you!" On the other hand, a dog holding its tail horizontally(水平地)wants to know more about you。
It might not be ready to welcome you. 72 It is still deciding whether you are a friend or not。
The same is true of a dog whose tail is wagging slowly.
When a dog hears or sees something new or exciting, its ears will go up or forward。
73 Its ears can also be pointed in different directions, allowing the dog to quickly figure out where a sound is coming from.
Watch your dog’s facial expression to learn more about how it is feeling。
You might even catch it smiling. 74 But dogs probably smile for the same reason we do. They want others to know they don't mean any harm.
Body language is one thing。
75 They are full of meaningful messages for dog owners。
A。
But it’s not going to challenge you either.
B。
A dog uses its entire body to show messages.
C. A dog that is wagging its tail might be happy。
D. A dog’s barks and ot her noises are quite another。
E。
It isn’t really hard to understand what your dog is trying to say.
F。
When it smiles,it pulls the corners of its mouth back to show the teeth.
G。
Its hearing is so good and it often knows about the approach of a person。

As the development of society, computers are used widely nowadays。
Surfing the Internet is only a good way we can get more informations, but also it is convenient to communicate with others。
Therefore, not all the students agree to this opinion。
They think it is harmful to spend much time play computer games。
It is really waste of time and money, that has a bad effect on us. In my opinion we should limit my time of surfing the Internet as middle
school student。
