“Cinderella” Jane Eyre
——Reaction to Jane Eyre
Background
Jane Eyre is a representative work of Charlotte Bronte, a famous British writer. To order to call for women’s independence, she shaped the image of Jane Eyre with her own personal experience, which is full of sufferings and thus Jane Eyre has touched the heart of countless readers during the more than one hundred years.
Childhood Experience
Jane Eyre was a born poor, whose parents went off when she was very young, so she lived with her aunt at Gateshead, the only relative she had, where she was abused by her aunt and cousins physically and mentally.
Growing Up Years
To get rid of Jane Eyre, her aunt sent her to a charity school for poor girls, where she lived an intolerable life and stayed for eight years, However, there is an excellent education placed within her reach, her favorite subjects, friend—Helen and her admirable headmaster—Miss Temple. To please them, she studied so hard that she became the first girl of the first class and then she was invested with the office of teacher. Miss Temple was like her mother, governess and laterly, companion, and she then learned something from her nature and habits. Now to the eyes of others, usually even to her own, she becomes a disciplined and subdued character with more harmonious thoughts and better regulated feelings. At this period, Miss Temple got married, removed with her husband and consequently lost touch with her,
meanwhile she lost her spiritual pillar.
Turning Point
There she made the acquaintance of lovely Adele and Rochester, the master of Thornfield Manor. Gradually Jane realized that he could treat others as equals, considered her to be a friend and got along with her heart to heart. At the same time, Rochester found her passionate and independent, furthermore, she valued freedom and dared to fight and pursued the high-level spirit and happiness. As a consequence of seeing the beauty of each other, they fell
in love with each other. What impressed me most is that s he does not give up her pursuit of happiness is spite of her character as a governess. In the background of that time, it was really so rare and praisable to call for women’s independence, equality and freedom. However, the road to happiness is strewn with setbacks. On their wedding day, Jane found the secret of Rochester. The wedding couldn’t continue because Mr Rochester was already married and his wife was still alive! His explanation that he was tricked into an unfortunate marriage with Bertha Mason many years ago made Jane forgive him at once in her heart because she knew what he said was true. However, in her heart she also knew it was right for her to leave. To my great amazement, she left Mr Rochester when he was rich and healthy but came back even though he was bland and disabled. I think that is true love.
Climax
Finally she become a powerful and independent woman, blessfully lived with the man she loves --Rochester.
What makes “Cinderella”Jan e Eyre? In the beginning, miserable experience makes her learn to fight against injustice,
