◆remember的此种用法也适用于forget句型
I’ll never forget waiting for you in the rain for the whole night.

He often forgets to close the door.他经常忘记关门。

2、doing a school survey.做学校调查
survey作可数名词，意为“调查；测量”，复数形式为surveys 。

The results of the survey made fascinating reading. 调查结果令人读起来饶有兴味。

The survey has a margin of error of %.测量的误差幅度为%。

The current survey will have a wider geographical spread.
当前的调查将在更广泛的地域范围内进行。

3、At junior high school, I remember a friend helping me with a problem. 在中学时,我记得一个朋友曾经帮助我解决问题。

help sb. with sth.“帮助某人做某事”
Lucy often helps her mother with housework on Sunday.露西在星期天经常帮助妈妈做家务。

◆help 构成的短语：
help oneself (to)“随便吃”can’t help doing sth“禁不住做某事”
with the help of“在……的帮助下”
Children，help yourselves to some fruits.孩子们，请随便吃些水果吧。

I couldn’t help crying.我忍不住哭了。

With the help of the neighbors，the fire was at last brought under control0.

standard 作可数名词，意为“标准；水平”，复数形式为standards。

quality standard 质量标准 national standard 国家标准international standard 国际标准
living standard / standard of living生活水平，生活标准
He does not speak standard Putonghua. 他的普通话说得不规范。

There is no absolute standard for beauty.美是没有绝对的标准的。

More than 300 watches are not up to standard.有300多块手表不合质量标准。

5、I remember scoring two goals in a row during a soccer competition.我记得在一次足球比赛中连续踢进两个球。

in a row意为“连续几次地；成一行；一字儿”。

How do you account for losing five games in a row 你如何解释一连输了五场比赛呢Ten footballer stood in a row on the sport ground. 运动场上一字儿站着十名足球运动员。

Count and see how many trees there are in a row. 数数看一行有多少棵树。

The team notched up their third victory in a row. 该队连续三次获胜。

◆row作可数名词，意为“一排；一列；一行”。

a row of identical houses 完全一样的一排房子 a row of trees 一行树木
A row of small windows jutted out from the roof. 有一排小窗户从房顶上突出来。

Several men are pushing school desks and chairs into neat rows.

①advise建议；劝告，忠告；通知；警告
advise 后接动词作宾语时，要用动名词，不用不定式；但若其后接的动词前有宾语，此动词用作宾语补足语时，则此动词要用不定式。

即说 advise doing sth (建议做某事)或 advise sb to do sth (建议某人做某事)。

类似情况的还有 allow(允许)，permit(允许)，forbid(禁止)等动词。

The husband advised moving to the south, but his wife advised him to give up the idea.
丈夫建议搬到南方去，但他妻子建议他放弃这种想法。

②take a break休息一下，休息一会（指短暂的休息一下）
Let's take a short break for lunch.让我们休息一会儿，去吃午饭。

We should all take a little break before dessert吃甜点之前我们大家应该稍微休息一下。

Let's take a break. 让我们休息一下。

8、He’s a great teacher. He gave really clear instructions during . Class. 他是一位伟大的老师，在体育课上，他的确给出明确的指导。

instruction n 说明；指示

patient = sick person n“病人” ； adj 有耐心的
be patient with sb./sth. “对……有耐心”
be patient of能忍受...的，容忍...的，有...可能的
You’ll have to be patient with my mother—she’s going rather deaf.
你对我母亲得有耐心――他的耳朵越来越不好使了。

A good teacher will always be patient with his or her students. 好老师对学生总是很有耐心。

I can't be patient of your childish questions any more.我再也不能忍受你那些幼稚的问题了。

You should learn to be patient of pains.你应该学会忍受痛苦。

①guide v. “为…领路(或指路)；带路；指导；指导…的行动；” n.“指南；向导；”
He guided her across the roads.他领她穿过马路。

He will guide you to the top of the mountain.他将带领你们登上山顶。

If I lose my way, you guide me and cheer me on.我迷失方向时,你会引导我,鼓励我。

②better 比较级，a lot 修饰比较级 do well in “在…方面做得好”
12、She helped you to work out the answers yourself no matter how difficult they were.她帮助你自己算出答案，无论它们有多难。

①work out算出，解决，想出、制定出
We must work out a plan as quickly as possible.我们必须尽快订出一个计划。

②no matter作“无论”、“不管”解，常与what、which、where、 how等连用
No matter what you do, you must be very careful.不管做什么事，你都必须非常细心。

No matter who you are (=Whoever you are), I’ll never let you in.
无论你是谁，我绝不让你进去。

No matter where I go (=Wherever I go) , I will be thinking of you.
无论我到哪里，我都会想着你。

No matter how hard you try(=However hard you try), you will never be successful.
不管你如何努力，你都不会成功的。

13、He always took time to explain things to me clearly whenever I couldn’t unders tand anything.

①take time to do sth.“花时间去做某事”，如果要说“花费某人多长时间做某事”，要用“It takes sb. some time to do sth.”句型。

Could you explain the sentence to me? 你能向我解释一下这个句子吗？
14、She encouraged me in English class.她在英语课上鼓励我。

encourage sb. to do sth.是固定用法，意为“鼓励某人做某事”。

My advisor encouraged me to take a summer course to improve my writing skills.
我的指导老师鼓励我参加一个暑期班来提高我的写作能力。

My mom encouraged me to make greater progress.我妈妈鼓励我取得更大进步。

15、Because of her, I put in more effort and my exam scores doubled.因为她，我更加努力，我的考试分数提高了一倍。

①put in effort“花工夫 , 把力用在某件事情上”
They've put in time and effort to keep the strike going.
他们花费了很多时间和精力以使罢工持续下去。

The date had a double significance.那个日子有双重意义。

If you buy a new bicycle, it will cost more than double.

①shall 助动词，意为“将要，将会”，表示将来时

look back at“回顾、回忆”
Every time I look back at my childhood，I can’t help missing my dear grandma.

I like to look back at my high-school days，which were among the happiest days in my life.

18、Trying to be on time for morning readings尽力按时赶上早读
①on time 与 in time
1）on time是“准时；按时”之意。

The train pulled in on time. 火车准时到站了
Don't worry! I shall awake him on time.不用担心!到时我会叫醒他的。

The alarm clock awoke me on time.闹钟按时把我闹醒了。

Afraid that I couldn't finish up the work on time, they came to help me.
他们担心我不能按时完成工作, 就来帮助我。

2）in time有“及时；迟早”的意思，意指正赶上时候或恰在需要的时候
We were just in time for(或to catch) the bus.我们及时赶上了公共汽车。

The doctor came in time to save his life.医生及时来抢救他的生命。

At last, we reached the factory in time. 我们终于及时到达工厂。

excite v. 激动，兴奋→excited adj. 兴奋的 be/get excited about （主语一般是人）
→exciting adj. 令人兴奋的（主语一般是物）
→excitement n. 兴奋
She’s so excited about the upcoming holiday. 对于即将来到的假日，她兴奋不已。

This movie is so exciting. 这部电影真让人兴奋、激动。

The excitement quickened my pulse.激动使我的心跳加快。

Her eyes kindled with excitement.她的眼睛里闪耀出激动的神色。

20、The many long hours of training 长时间的运动训练
Pride of overcome fear 让我克服恐惧，自豪之情充满胸膛
①pride n. 自豪，骄傲→proud adj. 自豪，骄傲
pride为名词，常用搭配为take pride in或be the pride of
proud为形容词，常用搭配为be proud of
Guo Jingjing is the pride of China . 郭晶晶是中国的骄傲。

His father is proud of him。

他父亲以他为自豪。

If you pass the exam, your teacher will take pride in you.
②overcome v. 克服，战胜 (overcame, overcome) = get over
After overcoming lots of difficulties, you will meet success.
战胜许多困难之后，你就会成功。

21、Preparing for art festivals 为艺术节准备
And making a great big mess弄得一团糟

①prepare for“为……做准备”

③have fun“玩得开心；过得愉快”= enjoy oneself / have a good time后接doing
We went to the beach last Sunday and we had great fun playing volleyball.
④wish sb the best “给某人最好的祝愿”
wish someone good luck祝(某人)幸运wish a person good morning祝某人早安
wish you happy祝你快乐
22、I’m looking forward to going to senior high school. 我期待上高中。

look forward to: “期待，盼望”；后面接名词或者动名词
He has been looking forward to going to England for a long time.
好久以来他一直盼望去英国。

Looking forward to a prompt reply. 盼速复信。

I look forward to your good news.我等待你的好消息。

23、A: What do you hope to do in the future 你希望将来做什么
B: I hope to get a business degree and become a manager.
我希望获得商学位并且成为一名经理。

hope用作动词时，后面可接to do sth或 that从句，但不能说“hope sb to do sth”，也不能直接接名词，但可以说hope for sth.
We hope to see you again. =We hope we can see you again.我希望再次见到你。

I hope you can help me with my maths. 希望你能帮助我学数学。

I hope for success .我希望成功。

◆与wish的区别：
wish后面接to do sth或“sb to do sth”都可以，其意义相当于“想要”，“希望”(=would like或 want)。

wish接that从句时一般表示某种强烈而又难以实现的“愿望”，而hope表示的是可以实现或能达到的“希望”。

例如：
I wish to place an order right now. 我想马上订购。

I wish him to make progress. 我希望他取得进步。

I wish I could fly like a bird. 但愿我能象鸟一样飞。

(从句中的could表示其动作不可能实现，不能用can。

)
▲试比较：I hope he can do that. 我希望他会干那件事。

(这句中can不能用could。

) wish可表示良好的“祝愿”，后面接“宾语+宾补(形容词或名词)”，而hope不能这样用。

I wish you happy. 祝你幸福。

I wish you a pleasant journey. 祝你旅途愉快。

【注意】不能说 I hope you happy/a pleasant journey.
24、Mrs. Chen believes in all of them and tells them to“go for it”. 陈老师信任他们所以人并告诉他们“加油”。

believe后接名词、代词或从句，表示“相信；认为”，接sb时表示“相信某人的话”
believe in后接sth时表示”信仰或信奉（真理、宗教、原则、行为）”接sb.时表示”信赖某人”
Why didn’t you believe in your friend? 你为什么不信任你的朋友？
I believe him, but I don’t believe in him. 我相信他的话，但不信任他这个人。
