教案一:Unit 1 Lesson 1
Title: Sightseeing in London
Objective:
- To introduce students to the topic of famous landmarks in London.
- To teach students key vocabulary related to sightseeing.
- To practice reading skills through a text about sightseeing in London.
- To develop students’ speaking and listening skills through discussions and conversations.
Materials:
- Pictures of famous landmarks in London
- Text about sightseeing in London
- Worksheets
Procedure:
1. Warm-up (5 minutes)
- Display pictures of famous landmarks in London and ask students if they know the names of any of them.
- Discuss what sightseeing means and ask students if they have ever been sightseeing before.
2. Presentation (10 minutes)
- Introduce key vocabulary related to sightseeing (e.g. landmark, tourist attraction, guide, etc.) using pictures and real-life examples.
- Ask students to repeat the words after you and explain their meanings.
3. Reading (15 minutes)
- Read the text about sightseeing in London aloud to the students.
- Ask comprehension questions to check their understanding of the text.
- Give out worksheets with reading comprehension questions for students to complete individually or in pairs.
4. Speaking activity (10 minutes)
- Divide the class into pairs or small groups.
- Ask students to discuss their favorite tourist attractions and why they find them interesting.
- Encourage them to ask follow-up questions to each other and engage in a conversation about their experiences.
5. Wrap-up (5 minutes)
- Have a class discussion about the most famous landmark in their own city or country.
- Ask students to share what they learned about sightseeing in London and if they would like to visit one day.
6. Homework (5 minutes)
- Assign students to write a short paragraph about their dream vacation destination and the sights they would like to see there.
Assessment:
- Observe students’ participation and engagement during the speaking activity. - Assess students' understanding of the text through their answers on the reading comprehension worksheet.
