My Favorite Singer Edmond Leung
Hi everyone! My name is Tim and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about my absolute favorite singer in the whole wide world - Edmond Leung! He's this really cool guy from Hong Kong who sings awesome songs. I first heard his music when my dad played some of his old CDs in the car and I've been a huge fan ever since.
Edmond was born in 1965 which makes him pretty old now, but when he was younger he was super good looking with long hair. He kind of looked like a rock star! His real Chinese name is Huangjia Ju but he used the English name Edmond Leung too. I think Edmond Leung sounds so much cooler.
Edmond started out as just a regular singer but then he did this amazing thing - he put Chinese lyrics to Western rock and pop songs! Can you believe that? Songs by bands like The Police, Foreigner, and even The Beatles but with Chinese words instead.
It was genius! Listening to those songs was what first made me fall in love with Edmond's music.
My all-time favorite Edmond song has to be "Chao Ji Ba Ba" which is his Chinese version of Guns N' Roses' classic "Sweet Child O' Mine." Edmond's raspy voice is perfect for that song. Whenever I hear the opening riff I get so pumped up and start rocking out on my air guitar. I've listened to "Chao Ji Ba Ba" about a million times but it never ever gets old.
Another amazing thing about Edmond is that he didn't just sing other people's songs, he wrote a ton of his own music too. And his original songs are every bit as awesome as his covers. "Tong Hua" is this beautiful ballad he wrote all about following your dreams. The lyrics are so inspiring and powerful. Whenever I'm feeling down or discouraged, listening to "Tong Hua" pumps me up again.
Edmond wasn't just a great singer, he was an amazing performer too. I've watched so many videos of his live concerts on YouTube and he always looks like he's having the time of his life up there on stage. Rocking out, interacting with the crowd, putting every ounce of energy into his performance. I'll never forget this one video where the audience is waving countless lit cigarette lighters during his acoustic version of "Bu Neng Shuo
de Xin Mi." The whole scene looks so magical and atmospheric. I get chills every single time!
Okay, so why do I love Edmond Leung so much? For one, his music is just incomparably awesome. Listening to him sing makes me feel amped up, emotional, nostalgic, you name it. But just as importantly, Edmond seems like he was a truly legendary performer and such a cool, down-to-earth guy off stage too.
In interviews, Edmond always comes across as so humble, passionate about music, and grateful to his fans. And get this - he was equally devoted to his wife Kay and their two sons. From everything I've read and seen, Edmond was somebody who had their priorities straight. He worked hard, rocked hard, but also cherished his family above all else.
It makes me sad that Edmond passed away way too young in 1997 from nasopharyngeal cancer. He was only 32 years old with his whole life and career still ahead of him. But at the same time, in those 32 years Edmond accomplished so much as a singer, songwriter and performer. He left behind this incredible musical legacy for all of us to enjoy forever.
My biggest dream is to see Edmond Leung get inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame one day. It would be so awesome for this legendary Chinese singer to get recognized on that big
international stage. Edmond tweaked and subverted Western rock in such a novel way, bringing those sounds and attitudes to Chinese audiences. He deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame just as much as any Western rock star.
Well, that's pretty much everything I wanted to say about why Edmond Leung is the best singer ever in my book. His music just speaks to me on another level and makes me feel so unbelievably alive inside. Listening to Edmond is a transcendent experience, transporting me to another world.
I really hope I was able to convey just a small part of why this man's art means so much to me. If I inspired even one other person to check out Edmond's tunes, then writing this essay was a major success. His songs and spirit deserve to be cherished and celebrated forever. Edmond Leung was truly one-of-a-kind - the ultimate Hong Kong rock legend!

My Favorite Singer Sam Hui
Hi everyone! Today I want to tell you about my favorite singer. His name is Sam Hui and he's from Hong Kong. Even though he's been making music for a really long time, I just
discovered how awesome he is recently when my parents played some of his songs at home.
Sam Hui has been performing for over 50 years! He started out way back in the 1970s. That's like ancient history to a kid like me. But his songs are still so much fun to listen to today. My parents said he was one of the biggest stars in Hong Kong and all across Asia when they were young.
What I love most about Sam Hui is how happy and energetic his music is. A lot of his songs just make you want to get up and dance! The beats are really catchy and the melodies are super fun. Even though the lyrics are in Cantonese which I don't fully understand yet, I can feel the joy and excitement in his voice.
One of my top favorite Sam Hui songs is called "Tian Mi Mi." The music video for it is hilarious! Sam dresses up in these crazy colorful outfits and does all sorts of funny dances. He makes goofy faces and just seems to be having a total blast. Whenever I watch that video, I can't help but smile and laugh. His energy and passion are downright contagious!
Another song I'm obsessed with is "Ding Ding Dang." It's got this awesome disco vibe that makes me want to jump around like a maniac. Sam sounds so lively and energetic, almost like he's going to explode with excitement off the stage! The funky beats
and groovy rhythms get stuck in my head for days. I've caught myself randomly humming and dancing to "Ding Ding Dang" at school before without even realizing it.
While a lot of Sam's songs are upbeat and bouncy, he can also do more chilled out tunes really well too. "Fei Yue Jianbo" is this beautiful romantic ballad with incredibly meaningful lyrics (or so I'm told since I can't understand the words yet). Sam's vocals are so heartfelt and tender. He has this warm, soothing quality to his voice that makes me feel all fuzzy inside. It's the kind of song I imagine people might want to slow dance to at a prom or wedding.
What impresses me most about Sam Hui though is just how talented and hardworking he is. He doesn't just sing; he also acts in movies, writes songs, and is an amazing dancer too! He puts on these incredibly high-energy live shows that go for hours where he never seems to run out of stamina. From what my parents told me, he was famous for his marathon concert performances back in the day where he would be drenched in sweat from non-stop singing and grooving around the stage. How does he do it all?! He must have superhuman levels of energy and passion for music.
Sam Hui has accomplished so much over his 50+ year career. He's released dozens of hit albums and charted tons of songs. He's starred in lots of popular movies and won oodles of major awards too. Yet he's still touring and making new music even now in his 70s! Can you believe that? I have such deep respect and admiration for how dedicated he's been to his craft for his entire life.
While I may not fully grasp all of Sam's lyrics since I'm still learning Cantonese, I'm utterly mesmerized by his incredible showmanship and spirited performances. The joy he exhibits on stage is simply magical. Watching him sing and dance with such boundless energy and charisma inspires me to pursue my own passions and talents wholeheartedly.
Some kids my age are really into the latest pop stars and boy bands. That's cool and all, but give me the classic funk and disco grooves of Sam Hui any day! His songs are an absolute party from start to finish. Listening to Sam's funky tunes never fails to lift my mood and get me moving with uncontrollable fits of dancing.
I really hope I can go see Sam Hui perform live in concert someday. From all the videos I've watched, his live shows look like the most fun a person could possibly have! Just thinking
about experiencing that infectious energy and those dazzling dance moves in the flesh makes me giddy with excitement. I'd be the kid jumping up and down screaming my lungs out the entire time, I just know it.
So if you've never heard of Sam Hui before, do yourself a favor and go check out some of his hit songs right now! "Tian Mi Mi," "Ding Ding Dang," "Fei Yue Jianbo" and so many more jams are guaranteed to get your body grooving and put a enormous smile on your face. Get ready to be blown away by the endless talent and enthusiasm of Hong Kong's original "Cantopop King" himself, the wildly entertaining Sam Hui!

My Favorite Singer Sam Hui
Hi there! My name is Tommy and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about my absolute favorite singer in the whole wide world - Sam Hui! He's this really cool guy from Hong Kong who sings awesome songs. I just love listening to his music.
Sam Hui has been making music for a super long time, even before I was born. He started way back in the 1970s when my parents were just kids! Can you believe that? He's been singing and acting for over 40 years now. Wow, that's like forever ago!
Even though Sam Hui is kind of old now (he's 74 years old!), his songs are still so much fun to listen to. The beats are always really catchy and upbeat. Whenever I hear his tunes, I can't help but bop my head and tap my feet. Sometimes I'll even get up and dance around my room! His music just puts me in such a good mood.
Not only does Sam Hui make great music, but he's also a really talented actor and comedian too. He stars in a ton of movies and TV shows, especially in the 1980s and 1990s when he was at the peak of his career. My parents love watching his old films and laughing at all the funny scenes he's in. Even I crack up at his hilarious jokes and goofy faces sometimes!
One of the things I love most about Sam Hui is that his songs are all in Cantonese, which is the language my family speaks at home. It's so cool to hear someone sing in my native tongue. A lot of his lyrics are really poetic too, with deep meanings and cultural references that my parents help explain to me. Sam Hui's music helps me appreciate my Chinese heritage.
At the same time, some of Sam Hui's most popular songs actually mix Cantonese with English lyrics. I think that's so genius! It makes his music appealing to people from all over the world, not just Chinese speakers. My favorite Sam Hui song like that is
probably "Pieces of a Dream" - such a fun and catchy tune to sing along to. "Tsamuihonium" is another weird but memorable song title from him.
Even though I wasn't even born when Sam Hui was at his musical peak in the 80s and 90s, I'm still a gigantic fan of his work today. There's just something so joyful, funny, and full of life about his personality that really comes through in his performances. You can't help but smile when listening to Sam Hui sing.
My parents have told me many stories about seeing Sam Hui in huge concert tours back in the day. They say his live shows were always a blast, with Sam cracking jokes, doing impersonations, and getting the whole crowd laughing and dancing. He would perform his hit songs while also showing off his impressive dancing skills. What a true entertainer!
While Sam Hui hasn't released a new album of original music in a very long time, he still performs occasional reunion concerts for his diehard fans. My parents have taken me to see him live a couple times, and let me tell you - the man's still got it even in his 70s! His voice is just as strong and his dance moves are still smooth. And the energy he brings to the stage is simply
incredible for his age. I was in complete awe watching him up there.
In addition to his music career, another reason I really admire Sam Hui is for his positive personality and humble attitude towards life. In interviews, he always comes across as such a down-to-earth, grateful person who never let fame go to his head. Despite achieving massive stardom, he seems to have a great perspective and appreciation for the simple things. What a role model!
Sam Hui is also known for being very charitable and giving back to the community through his different philanthropic efforts over the years. He has raised tons of money for good causes and uses his celebrity platform to promote worthy messages. My parents really respect him for that.
Honestly, I could go on and on singing the praises of the legendary Sam Hui. But I'll stop here and just say - if you've never listened to his iconic Cantopop hits before, you're seriously missing out! His fun, upbeat, and hilarious musical stylings are absolutely timeless.
Do yourself a favor and check out classic Sam Hui anthems like "Games People Play," "The Personal Emotional Story Album," and "Where's The Wonton?" Trust me, you won't regret allowing
this comedic musical genius into your life. His catchy tunes and funny vibes are guaranteed to bring a big smile to your face!
Sam Hui will forever reign as one of the kings of Hong Kong pop culture in my heart. Even though he's getting up there in age, his amazingly entertaining and uplifting music will surely live on for many more generations to enjoy. What a legend!

My Favorite Singer Sam Hui
Hi everyone! Today I want to tell you all about my absolute favorite singer, Sam Hui. He's awesome and I love listening to his music. Sam Hui is from Hong Kong and he's been making hit songs for a super long time, since the 1970s!
Sam Hui sings in Cantonese, which is the dialect of Chinese that people speak in Hong Kong. His songs are so much fun and make me want to get up and dance. The music videos for his songs are really silly and goofy too. He wears crazy colorful outfits and pulls funny faces. I crack up laughing every time!
A lot of Sam's songs tell stories and have interesting characters in them. Like there's this one called "Games Gamblers Play" about some guys who are obsessed with gambling. And
another one called "The Truth" that's all about a guy whose girlfriend caught him lying. The lyrics are symbolic and clever but also easy for kids like me to understand.
What I really love about Sam Hui is how unique his voice sounds. It's kind of nasally but in a good way that makes it really recognizable. No other singer sounds exactly like him. His voice has so much character and personality! I can pick his voice out of any crowd.
Another thing that makes Sam so special is that he doesn't just sing, he also writes a ton of his own songs and music. He's incredibly talented. Many of his songs became massively popular not just in Hong Kong, but all across Asia. Songs like "Butter Frying Chives" and "Oju Banjo" were humongous hits!
My all-time favorite Sam Hui song though has to be "Tao Kui Woo." It's an upbeat funny number about a guy who keeps mispronouncing words in a really goofy way. The lyrics are hilarious but the song is also just insanely catchy. I have the whole thing memorized and I sing and dance along every single time!
"Tao Kui Woo, tao no chok jee! San taee lou lo, beng fall sai boon bei!"
Those iconic lines always make me smile from ear to ear. I seriously can't get enough of that song!
Besides singing incredible music, Sam Hui is also a really talented actor and comedian. He stars in a bunch of hilarious Hong Kong movies from the 80s and 90s. My favorites are the "Aces Go Places" series where he plays a silly private detective who gets into all sorts of crazy situations. He's just naturally so funny and charismatic.
I feel really lucky that someone introduced me to Sam Hui's music a couple years ago. As soon as I heard his one-of-a-kind voice and those insanely catchy melodies, I was hooked! He quickly became my number one favorite singer of all time.
There's just nothing else out there quite like Sam Hui's brand of light-hearted, humorous and highly energetic Cantopop. His music is the perfect mix of entertaining and uplifting. Whenever I'm feeling down, I throw on a Sam Hui playlist and it instantly lifts my mood and puts a huge smile on my face.
I've learned so many of his songs by heart at this point because they're just that catchy and memorable. I walk around singing "Tao Kui Woo" or "Games Gamblers Play" pretty much every day. My parents must be so sick of hearing it but they know how much I adore Sam!
They actually took me to see him perform live in concert for my 9th birthday last year. It was honestly one of the most amazingly fun nights of my entire life! Seeing the one and only Sam Hui up on stage, rocking out with that iconic voice of his was a dream come true. I sang along to every single song at the top of my lungs!
After the show, we even got to go backstage and meet Sam Hui himself. He was so funny and friendly, and happily signed autographs and took pictures with all his fans. Getting a selfie with my idol was the ultimate highlight. I'll cherish that memory forever!
Someday, I hope I can be as multi-talented as Sam Hui is. He's an incredible singer, songwriter, musician, actor and comedian all rolled into one amazingly gifted package. I want to have as many creative talents as he does when I grow up. For now though, I'm just happy listening to his joyful, upbeat music on repeat every single day.
Sam Hui's songs are always there to cheer me up when I'm feeling down. His humor and positivity shine through in every note and lyric. In my opinion, he's a true living legend in the world of Cantopop and Hong Kong entertainment. Sammi Hung
Cam Dang - that's how you spell "thank you" in Cantonese to the one and only Sam Hui!

My Favorite Singer Huangjia Ju
Hi everyone! My name is Xiao Ming and I'm in 5th grade. Today I want to tell you all about my absolute favorite singer - Huangjia Ju! He's a legendary Cantopop star from Hong Kong. Even though he's been gone for a long time now, his amazing songs and kind heart still make me smile every time I listen to his music.
Huangjia Ju was born on September 28, 1967 in Hong Kong. His real name was Huang Zhongcun. When he was little, he loved singing and would always perform for his family and friends. He joined his first band when he was only 14 years old! Can you imagine being in a rock band at 14? That's so cool!
After high school, Huangjia Ju started pursuing music more seriously. In 1986, he released his first album called "Resume of a Pandemic Boy." It didn't become a huge hit right away, but his powerful vocals and meaningful lyrics slowly gained him a loyal fanbase. He sang about things that mattered to young people
like me - love, dreams, standing up for yourself. His songs made you feel understood.
Some of my all-time favorite Huangjia Ju songs are "Bu Jian Bu San," "Wun Yin Zhong Yin," and "Fong Teng Lung Lin." "Bu Jian Bu San" is all about missing someone you love when you're apart. The lyrics are so sad but also really beautiful. And the music video shows Huangjia Ju walking alone in the rain, which makes the song even more emotional! "Wun Yin Zhong Yin" has this amazing rock sound with electric guitars. The lyrics inspire you to chase your dreams and never give up. And "Fong Teng Lung Lin" is just an incredibly well-written love song. When Huangjia Ju sings "My darling, I will never leave you," you can hear how much he means it.
Not only was Huangjia Ju an incredible musician, but he was also a wonderful person. He donated a lot of his money to charities that helped sick kids and poor families. Once there was a big rainstorm in Hong Kong that flooded many areas. Huangjia Ju went out in his boat to rescue people who were trapped! He cared so much about his fans and his community. We should all try to be as kind and generous as he was.
Sadly, Huangjia Ju's bright life was cut short when he died suddenly of a heart attack in 1993. He was only 25 years old. Fans
all over the world were completely heartbroken. I wasn't even born yet when he passed away, but listening to his music makes me feel like I knew him. His songs are so full of passion, honesty and youthful spirit. Whenever I'm feeling sad or stressed out, I put on a Huangjia Ju album and it cheers me right up.
His songs and his kindness have inspired millions of people, including me. I really look up to Huangjia Ju as a role model for living your dreams, working hard, and using your talents to make the world a little bit better. He once said: "As long as you work hard and never give up, you'll be able to achieve your goals eventually." That's amazing advice for kids like me!
I hope that after reading this essay, you feel inspired to check out Huangjia Ju's music yourself. His voice and his positive spirit will definitely put a smile on your face. Even though he's no longer with us, Huangjia Ju's songs will brighten people's lives forever. He was a true legend that the world will never forget. Thank you Huangjia Ju for sharing your incredible gift with us!

My Favorite Singer: Samuel Hui
Hi there! My name is Michael and I'm going to tell you all about my favorite singer, Samuel Hui. Get ready because I'm a huge fan and I have a lot to say about him!
Samuel Hui is a really cool singer and actor from Hong Kong. He's been making music for a super long time, since the 1970s! Can you believe that? He's kind of old now but his songs are still awesome. My dad listened to him when he was a kid too.
I first heard Samuel Hui's songs when I was little because my parents would play his CDs in the car. At first, I didn't really pay much attention. But then one day, this totally catchy and fun song came on called "Games Gamblers Play." It had such a groovy beat and funny lyrics about playing games and gambling.
I loved it! From then on, I was hooked on Samuel Hui's music.
Since that first song, I've listened to pretty much every album Samuel Hui has made over and over again. His songs just make me feel so happy and energetic. He sings about all different kinds of topics too - love, family, dreams, having fun with friends. Basically everything a kid could relate to!
What I really admire about Samuel Hui is that he writes all his own songs and music. That's so impressive! My favorite songs that he wrote himself are "Aces Regained," "Weird Person," and
"Grandma's Discipline." The lyrics are brilliant and the melodies are so insanely catchy. I could listen to them all day.
Another thing I love about Samuel Hui is that he was a really pioneering Cantopop singer. Cantopop is this genre of Hong Kong pop music that blends Chinese and Western styles together. Samuel Hui was one of the first big stars of Cantopop back in the 70s and 80s. He helped make it popular around the world.
Whenever I hear his happy, upbeat songs, it motivates me to work hard at my dreams too. In a lot of his songs, Samuel Hui sings about persevering and never giving up, no matter how tough things get. He's living proof that if you follow your passion, you can achieve great things. How cool is that?
Did you know Samuel Hui was a really successful actor too? Yeah, he starred in over 150 movies and TV shows! He was basically a superstar doing it all - singing, acting, writing songs. I've seen a bunch of his comedy movies and he always makes me crack up. He's just naturally so funny and entertaining.
Lately, I've been really into learning more about Samuel
Hui's life story. It's so inspiring how he came from a poor family but never let that stop him. Through sheer talent and hard work,
he became a beloved cultural icon of Hong Kong. I have so much respect for him.
When I grow up, I either want to be a singer/songwriter just like Samuel Hui or maybe even an actor too. Or why not do it all? He's shown me that you can make your creative dreams a reality if you dedicate yourself 100%. That's my number one goal in life.
Okay, I could seriously go on forever talking about why Samuel Hui is the best. But I'll wrap it up now because this essay is getting kind of long. Just do me a favor - go check out his songs, movies, anything! You won't regret it. Samuel Hui has brought me so much joy and inspiration. I really hope you can experience his amazing artistry too. He's the greatest!
Thanks for reading my essay. I better run now before my mom calls me for dinner. But I'll leave you with one last Samuel Hui quote: "The road of life is full of uphill battles. With perseverance and courage, nothing is an unclimbable hill." Words to live by, am I right? See you later!。
