For so long, failure has been pictured as something negative, something to be ashamed of and something to be kept a secret. But a Swedish psychologist,Samuel West, has decided to put our worst fears on the table. He is opening a museum-the Museum of Failure-in Helsingborg,Sweden, this June.
Instead of showing successes,as museums usually do,the Museum of Failure will display over 60“failed”products from big-name companies such as Nokia,Apple and Coca-Cola.“I really hope you see that these mega-brands that everybody respects, they screw up too,”West told The New York Times.“I hope that makes you feel less nervous about learning something new.”
West’s opinion isn’t a new one.Albert Einstein once said,“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.”And this idea has been embraced by lots of companies in the US.Silicon Valley, for example,is the home of some of the world’s most creative companies, yet its slogan turns out to be,quite surprisingly,“Fail fast, fail often.”
However, there are reasons for this.“The best companies are those that encourage failure, embrace out-of-the-box thinking, and allow employees to make mistakes and see what happens,”wrote Simon Casuto of Forbes.
But some people are skeptical of this so-called“culture of failure”.They are worried that if failure becomes“a symbol of honor”,as Wired magazine put it,it may even be seen as“uncool”when someone tries to reduce the risk of failure. This may push people to care too little and try too little.
“Sometimes people hide behind failure, when they could have prevented it,”wrote Anna Isaac of The Telegraph.
So it's important that you set apart the two kinds of failure—the kind that makes you a loser and the kind that takes you forward. The key is whether you’ve learned something from your mistakes.
“Learning is the only process that turns failure into success,”West told The Guardian.“If you don’t learn from your failures, then you’ve really failed.”
24.What does the underlined phrase“screw up”mean in the second paragraph?
A.Make a profit.
B.Make a mess.
C.Make a highlight.
D.Take a risk.
25.What message does the slogan“Fail fast,fail often.”convey?
A.The more failure,the better.
B.Accept failure,and try new things.
C.The more you fail, the less success you achieve.
D.Failure is more important than success.
26.Which magazine shows doubt about the culture of failure?
A.The New York Times.
B.Forbes.
C.Wired.
D.The Guardian.
27.What’s West’s opinion about failure?
A.Failure’s value lies in learning from it.
B.If you fail,you are a loser.
C.It’s not necessary to try to reduce the risk of failure.
D.Failure is the key to put you forward.

I may not be on Vine or whatever the kids are using these days, but I’m on Facebook,Twitter and Instagram.I love being able to stay in touch with people living on the other side of the planet, I like sharing pictures of my cat and I’m even one of those people who shares lots of food pictures.
I enjoy seeing people“like”my posts and comments, and my Facebook app is the first thing I look at in the morning-sometimes even before my eyes are fully open.
That being said,I haven’t posted a pictures about being pregnant on Facebook or anywhere else.
I actively keep an eye out for any of my friends referring to my pregnancy in posts and comments and don’t allow any of them on my timeline. My husband is also of the same mindset,so if we haven’t mentioned it to you, chances are you don’t know anything about my pregnancy.
This has been and will continue to be a very purposeful decision on both our parts. We simply don’t believe that, beyond perhaps a simple birth announcement(maybe even without a picture), our child’s life should end up on Facebook.
This generation of kids is the first one in human history to have their lives shared in a forum as public as the Internet without their permission.Parents all over the world put their kids’pictures on Facebook.I get the reasoning:Everyone wants to share pictures of their kids with friends and family.More often than not, such photos capture sweet moments and I’m sure grandmas and grandpas the world over are glad to have such easy access to their grandsons and granddaughters.
I also take more and more pictures of our kids. After all, they’re lovely, and who doesn’t have a cell phone camera handy at all times?
For my part,I just don’t want my kid on social media until she’s old enough to put herself on there.Family pictures might be one thing, but posting cutesy photos of a baby’s first bath is another.I don’t know where my kid’s pictures might end up some day-surely the last thing a parent could want is for a darling photo of their kid to show up somewhere totally wrong.
28.What’s the author’s attitude to social media?
A.She is fond of the idea
B.She seldom posts pictures.
C.She can’t live without them
D.She prefers Vine to Facebook
29.Why doesn’t the author post a picture about her pregnancy on social media?
A.Her husband doesn’t allow her to do so.
B.She is going to give her friends a surprise.
C.She wants to keep her baby out of the public eye
D.Her husband doesn’t like posts without pictures
30.Why do parents post their kids’pictures online according to the author?
A.To share sweet moments
B.To bring the family closer
C.To show off before friends
D.To please the other generation
31.What may be a worry to the author according to the last paragraph?
A.Family pictures may change social media
B.Kids may get angry about their parents’posts
C.People may show no interest in kids’pictures
D.Posting kids’pictures may put them in danger.

Could your weekend lie-in(睡懒觉)kill you?”asked the Daily mail.It is said in a study that sleeping more at weekends can increase the risk of heart disease.Since most of us change our sleep schedule depending on whether it's a work or non-work day,it's an interesting question. Is the lie-in really so dangerous?Researchers say that changing sleep patterns causes social jet lag.Is that even a thing?
Changing our sleeping hours causes the effect of crossing a time zone-it makes us sleepy during the day.People who changed their sleep patterns were also more likely to gain weight during the study and more suited to going to bed and waking late because of the change of their biological clock. They were more at risk of these changes than earlier sleepers and risers. The study also shows an association between switching sleep patterns and changes in some blood results. It does not show that anyone's developing heart disease was because they had lie-ins.
Jim Horne, one of the professors of the Sleep Research Centre at Loughborough University, says the concept of social jet lag is likely to feed our anxiety about sleep,so we should really stop worrying so much and have a limited weekend lie-in.Worry is bad for sleep and we naturally compensate for not getting enough rest in the week by lying-in at weekends,so we shouldn't stop doing it.However,we should limit the time.
Studies show that if you accumulate a five-hour sleep debt during the week, then you only need one and a half hours of extra sleep on your days off to make up for it.It would be a shame to be scared of a lie-in.Studies of sleep and risk factors for heart disease can struggle to tell between poor sleep causing stress and stress disrupting sleep.Work stress can cause both a rise in blood pressure and changes in sleep patterns.Sleep is the test for the state of one's health, and the most important thing that happens when you don't get enough of it is that you feel sleepy.
32.What's the probable effect of changing our sleep patterns?
A.Becoming unhealthy.
B.Losing weight quickly.
C.Easily adapting to time zones.
D.Becoming early sleepers and risers.
33.What is Jim Horne's attitude towards the weekend lie-in?
A.Negative.
B.Supportive
C.Unconcerned.
D..Doubtful.
34.What does the underlined phrase"doing it"in Paragraph3refer to?
A.Sleeping early.
B.Worrying.
C.Lying-in.
pensating for the limit.
35.What can we infer from the text?
A.The sleep debt must be paid off completely.
B.The weekend lie-in is a bad habit for all people.
C.The more hours one sleeps, the healthier he will be.
D.Poor sleep may result from and cause stress in turn.

Empty nest syndrome(综合症)is a phenomenon in which parents experience feelings of sadness and loss when the last child leaves home. You might find it difficult to suddenly have no children at home who need your care.36If you have only one child, you might have a particularly difficult time adjusting to an empty nest.
37In the past, research suggested that parents dealing with empty nest syndrome experienced a sense of loss that makes them easy to experience depression, alcoholism and identity crisis.38When the last child leaves home, parents have a new opportunity to improve the quality of their marriage and restart interests for which they previously might not have had time.
If you’re experiencing feelings of loss due to empty nest syndrome, take action.39 This might be an opportune time to explore or return to hobbies, leisure activities,or career pursuits.
Many suggest preparing for an empty nest while your children are still living with you.40 They may include family vacations, long talks, and taking time off from work to make special memories. Also, make specific plans for the extra money, time, and space that will become available when children are no longer living at home.
A.What’s the impact of empty nest syndrome?
B.You might also worry about your children’s safety
C.What can parents do to deal with empty nest syndrome?
D.Make plans with the family while everyone is still under the same roof
E.Social support can be incredibly helpful during times of stress and loneliness
F.For example, time and energy that you directed toward your child can now be spent on different areas of your life.
G.However, recent studies suggest that an empty nest might reduce work and family conflicts, and provide parents with many other benefits.
