A primary school principal in north China has become the latest Internet celebrity for leading some cool moves during a morning exercise routine with his students。
Every morning, 40-year—old principal Zhang Pengfei at Xiguan Primary School in Linyi County, Shanxi Province would lead about 700 pupils in the playground in a synchronised “ghost shuffle" routine—a dance that incorporates contemporary jazz steps with heel, toe and arm movements. The bold headmaster thought the fun and energetic exercise routine would better
encourage students to get active instead of “being glued to their mobile phones”.
The school’s new 30—minute dance routine has replaced the government—imposed broadcast callisthenics programme, a short workout that has been a requirement at every primary, middle and secondary school in China since 1951. “I thought we needed a change because the students have been losing interest in doing the broadcast callisthenics routine,” Zhang told the Southern Metropolis News.
The dedicated principal said he came across a group of people doing the “ghost shuffle” routine at a public plaza last summer and decided to learn the dance himself. “I thought the dance would be great for kids," he said。
“The music is full of energy and it really gets the happy feeling of flowing.” In October, he introduced the choreographed(编排的)routine to all of his students and shortly after, even teachers and staff were joining in。
“Now the students aren’t constantly on their phones. I sometimes catch them watching different dance routine videos and learning new moves!"the proud headmaster told reporters。

High levels of chocolate consumption might be associated with a one third reduction in the risk of developing heart disease,
suggests a study published online in the British Medical Journal。
The findings confirm the results of existing studies that generally agree on a potential beneficial link between chocolate consumption and heart health。
However, the authors stress that further studies are needed to test whether chocolate actually causes this reduction or if it can be explained by some other unmeasured factors。
The World Health Organization predicts that by 2030, nearly 236 million people will die from heart disease。
However, lifestyle and diet are key factors in preventing heart disease, says the paper。
A number of recent studies have shown that eating chocolate has a positive influence on human health due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This includes reducing blood pressure and improving insulin sensitivity。
However, the evidence about how eating chocolate affects your heart still remains unclear。
So, Dr Oscar Franco and colleagues from the University of Cambridge carried out a large scale of review of the existing evidence to evaluate the effects of eating chocolate on cardiovascular(心血管的)events like heart attacks and strokes.
They analyzed the results of seven studies, involving over 100,000 participants with and without existing heart disease.
For each study, they compared the group with the highest chocolate consumption and the group with the lowest consumption.
Five studies reported a beneficial link between higher levels of chocolate consumption and the risk of cardiovascular events. They found that the “highest levels of chocolate consumption were associated with a 37% reduction in cardiovascular disease and a 29% reduction in strokes compared with the lowest levels”。
No significant reduction was found in relation to heart failure。
The authors say the findings need to be interpreted with caution, in particular because commercially available chocolate is very calorific(around 500 calories for every 100 grams)and eating too much of it could lead to weight gain, the risk of diabetes and heart disease。
However, they conclude that given the health benefits of eating chocolate, initiatives to reduce the current fat and sugar content in most chocolate products should be explored.

I decided to ski to the North Pole。
It was after I saw an advertisement in a newspaper looking for people to join a team to ski 350 miles to the North Pole。
Back in 1996, there had never been a woman from the UK who had accomplished this challenge.
I wondered what it would be like to survive in temperatures cold
enough to freeze your flesh in seconds, so I sent off for the application form。
The application form full of pictures of male explorers arrived. The words “Are you man enough for the ultimate(极限的) challenge?” made me angry and even more determined to get on the team.
Over 500 individuals applied for a place in the team, and the selection process included physical and psychological tests designed to pick the best group. In one test, there was a huge rope ladder we had to climb, and I froze at the top because I had a fear of heights。
I thought my hopes were fading as most other applicants sailed past, leaving me behind。
But two others helped me out, and later I found out that the organizers were not looking for amazing individuals, but great team players, and this moment had shown them who would take care of others in the team。
I had revealed(显示)my weakness, and in a place like the Arctic, you have to be yourself, as there is nowhere to hide. These personalities of asking for help and showing weaknesses are necessary for women to master.
I realized that by being myself, I could succeed. I was selected for the team. I realized that I could achieve more than
I ever imagined-more importantly, by sharing my story with others,
I could inspire them to take a step into the unknown.

There are many programs for high school students today that help lonely teenagers deal with loneliness。
However, loneliness
is not only an issue for teens but also an important and rarely acknowledged one in the elderly。
In Britain, Tracey Crouch was appointed to be the first Minister of Loneliness in order to address the issues caused by loneliness。
This is the first time such a position has been created.
In Britain, there are around 9 million people who say they are lonely frequently. In Germany, a study conducted by Ruhr University Bochum found that 20 percent of people over the age of 85 felt lonely, and that 14 percent of those between age 45 and 65 felt socially lonely。
In the United States, more than 25 percent of the population live alone, and more than 50 percent are unmarried.
Loneliness is generally associated with heart disease and anxiety. Additionally, the stress from loneliness can cause your cells to change on a molecular(分子)level that reduces its abilities to defend your body against diseases. In fact, doctors believe having feelings of loneliness is equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes per day in regard to its effect on health!
In Britain, the new Minister of Loneliness will help introduce government policies on the issue and fund a charity-an organization for helping people in need, to devote their efforts
to aiding loneliness. There are charities that link lonely seniors to high school students in order to give them a line of communication whenever they feel lonely!
The possibilities for the new Minister of Loneliness are endless. For example, she can provide education services to household businesses so that they can identify lonely customers if they see one. Loneliness fits into the category of being a social issue that must be monitored by the entire community in order to help those in need. Therefore, government involvement in medical services and care for seniors and others is vital for happy seniors.

A.By listing some statistics。
B。
By giving examples of lonely people.
C.By pointing out similarities and differences。
D。
By comparing different cultures in different countries.
2。
What does the underlined word “equivalent” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.Relevant.
B.Similar. C。

A。
Do housework for lonely people。
B.Develop friendships with the elderly.
C。

D。

4.What is the main idea of the text?
A。

In 2011, Nancy Ballard went for a routine check-up that turned into something extraordinary. In fact, she was carrying a painting of a plant she’d done when she arrived at her doctor’s San Francisco office。
“It would be great if we had artworks like that for our chemotherapy (化疗)rooms,” the nurse said。
Ballard asked to see one。
She was shocked by what she found。
The walls were dull and bare, and the paint was chipping(剥落). It was a depressing room for a depressing routine-patients were restricted to chemo drips for perhaps several hours, often with nothing to look at other than those sad walls。
Ballard didn’t have cancer herself, but she could sympathize with the patients. “I couldn’t imagine how anyone could even think about getting healthy in a room like
that,” she says. As it happened,Ballard’s physicia n, Stephen Hufford, was ill with cancer himself, so finding time to decorate the rooms was low on his to-do list。
So Ballard made it her mission to brighten up the place.

As it happened, six of them wrote back almost immediately。
Six rooms got new paint, light fixtures, artworks, and furniture。
Dr. Hufford was delighted。
“All the patients feel relieved of the pain because of it,” he said。
He even noted that his own tone of voice was different in the rooms and that he was better able to connect with his patients。
Ballard was so encouraged by the patients' reactions that she created a non—profit, Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo, to raise money and decorate more spaces. Since then, she has worked on 20 projects, including one in Pennsylvania. “We were in Philadelphia for a ribbon-cutting, and a woman was there on her third battle with cancer,” says Ballard. “When she saw what
we’d done, she said, ‘I’m gonna beat it this time. I thought I wasn't going to, but now I know I’m gonna beat it.’”

Do you believe in the power of music? If you're like most kids these days, you probably have an electronic device loaded with
hundreds or even thousands of your favorite songs. At any moment in time, you can fill your headphones with the sounds of a particular song that suits your mood at that exact time。
Are you getting ready for a big soccer match or do you need to get excited? Maybe some hip hop with a strong beat will do the trick! Besides, you might be ready to study for a big exam the next day. To calm your nerves and help you concentrate, a little bit of Mozart might make memorization more manageable.
But is there any scientific evidence of these effects that music seems to have? You bet there is! Scientists have long recognized the power of music. Over the years, many studies have been conducted to examine in greater depth the nature and extent of the effects music has on people.
For example, scientists at the University of Missouri have found that listening to music can have a positive effect on your mood。
Their research gives scientific credibility(可信性) to the behavior that many people have already experienced on their own: listening to upbeat music can brighten your day and boost your mood。
Other studies have shown that upbeat music isn’t the only type of music that can be helpful, however。
When people are sad or have suffered a personal loss, sad music can be helpful
because people identify with the tone and lyrics(歌词) of the music。
Likewise, people under a lot of stress or experiencing upsetting situations can benefit from listening to angry music. Although angry music might not help you if you’re in a normal mood, its tone can benefit you when you are dealing with stressful and upsetting situations.

According to the passage, what is the power of Mozart? A。
Making you less active.

(2019福建厦门外国语学校高三第二次月考,D)
We all agree, surely—memorizing poetry is a good thing, and children ought to do it。
But people do object. At least, they object to the idea that children should be forced to learn poetry。
They tend to be people like Michael Rosen. Rosen has more practical objections to children having to learn poetry by the government’s order. Actually, Rosen is all for learning poetry,“when it feels right”, which is,he says, “one of those vague phrases much hated by people in authority and yet it is at the heart of good teaching”.
He’s onto something about the timing, but that doesn’t mean policymakers are wrong to insist on pupils learning poetry. The
problem is that some influential educationists have come to see learning by heart as a waste of time when tomorrow’s adults will want skills more than information.
Let’s come to the most important objec tors—children. Their objection tends to come in the least offensive form。
It comes in the question: “Why are we doing this?” It’s a worthwhile inquiry. I teach at Sherborne School, where boys do learn poetry, and luckily there’s time in our lessons to answ er that question。
Here’s one of the answers I give. There’ll be one time when your good friend is going to introduce you to someone with whom he wants to spend the rest of his life。
There’ll be a ceremony to honour this union, and words will be very important. You're likely to be the one who has to stand up and say, “Let me not to the marriage of true minds/Admit impediments。
” And when you do that, you’re going to be speaking for everyone in the room。
Now, everybody breathes a sigh of relief.
Learning poetry and reciting poetry forces us to think of it in this public way。
However mysterious and intimate poetry seems, we need to remember it’s something we also share, and offer each other. So take some, and pass it on。
13。
What does the underlined word “it” in the first paragraph refer to?
A。
The right timing.
B。
The poetry with vague phrases.
C.The government's order。
D。
The natural way to learn poetry.
14。
Which of the following would be favored by some influential educationists?
A.To guide children how to recite poetry.
B。
To instruct children how to get information.
C。
To teach students real life skills for the future。
D.To force children to obey the government policy.
15。
As for the children’s question, the teacher should .
A.consider it offensive
B。
take it seriously
C.dismiss it as worthless
D.discuss it after class
16.What's the writer’s attitude towards poetry learning?
A.Objective.
B.Supportive。
C.Critical.
D.Disapproving。
