如何安排外教口语课学习内容和建议英语作文
How to Make the Most of Your English Lessons
Hello friends! My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. I've been taking English lessons with a foreign teacher for 2 years now and I've learned so much! At first, I was really shy and nervous to speak English. But my teacher, who comes all the way from Canada, is really nice and patient. She makes me feel comfortable to practice speaking.
In this essay, I'll share my best tips for how to get the most out of your English lessons with a foreign teacher. I'll also give you some advice about writing in English that has helped me a lot. Let's get started!
Planning Your Lessons
One of the best things you can do is plan out what you want to cover in your lessons. Don't leave it all up to the teacher! Come prepared with things you specifically want to learn or practice.
For example, maybe you're struggling with a certain grammar point like the present perfect tense. You could ask your teacher to go over that again and give you more practice
exercises. Or maybe you have a presentation coming up at school and you need help preparing and practicing it in English.
My teacher lets me pick fun topics too, like talking about my favorite movies, books, sports, or video games. That makes it way more enjoyable than just reading from a textbook. She also teaches me fun idioms and slang expressions.
I like to make a list before each lesson of the things I want to focus on. That way we can make sure to cover everything and use our time wisely. The more structured your lessons are, the more you'll get out of them.
Practicing Your Skills
For speaking, my teacher does role-plays with me, acts out dialogues, and has me tell stories. Sometimes she records me and we listen back to it together to identify things I need to improve. It was super awkward at first, but now I'm a lot more confident!
For listening, in addition to listening to my teacher speak, she also plays videos, songs, and audio clips for me to practice comprehension. Then I have to summarize what I heard or answer questions about it.
As for reading, my teacher has me read all kinds of things out loud - stories, articles, instructions, you name it! We go over any words I don't know and work on my pronunciation. Your reading skills will improve a lot this way.
Writing is one of the hardest parts of learning English, in my opinion. My teacher gives me writing prompts and I have to write paragraphs, essays, stories, or other types of texts. Then she provides feedback to help me improve. More on writing advice later!
The key thing is to incorporate as much skill practice as possible into your lessons. Your teacher is there to guide you and give you opportunities to use English, not just lecture at you. So don't be afraid to jump in and participate actively!
Learning Resources
In addition to working one-on-one with your teacher, there are lots of amazing resources out there for learning English. Here are some of my favorites:
• Podcasts and audiobooks - so you can practice listening comprehension anywhere, anytime! Two great ones for kids are "Six Minute Stories" and "The Alien Adventures of Finn Caspian."
• Reading apps and websites like Epic! and Readworks - they have tons of stories and books you can read or have read to you. You'll find tons of options at your level.
• YouTube channels like Dream English Kids and Smile and Learn - they have super engaging video lessons that make grammar concepts way more fun.
• Educational games like Promethean World of Words and Johnny Grammar Word Challenge - kind of like video games but they actually teach you vocabulary and grammar rules.
• Physical books and workbooks, of course! I like the National Geographic Kids and Scholastic branches' english learner materials.
Your teacher can probably recommend even more resources specific to your interests and level. The awesome thing is how much is out there nowadays to make language learning interactive and entertaining. Take advantage of as many of these resources as you can!
Writing in English
Okay, now for those writing tips I promised! As I mentioned, writing is one of the toughest skills when you're learning English.
But if you follow these suggestions, you'll become a much stronger writer:
• Read, read, read! The more you read, the better you'll understand how sentence structure works in English. You'll start picking up vocabulary and writing styles.
• Keep a diary or journal in English to practice writing regularly, even if it's just a few sentences.
• Learn common transition words like "therefore," "however," "additionally," etc. They'll help you connect your ideas smoothly.
• Study grammar rules, especially related to sentence structure, verb tenses, punctuation, and common errors English learners make.
• Have a "word bank" of useful vocabulary words or phrases you can refer to.
• Use online tools like grammar checkers, dictionaries, and thesauruses when you're editing your writing.
• Read your work out loud - it'll help you catch mistakes your eyes may have missed.
• Most importantly, don't be afraid to make mistakes! That's how you learn. Focus on expressing your ideas clearly first, then work on accuracy.
The more you practice writing in English, the more comfortable and confident you'll become. Stay positive and keep at it! Having an English teacher to provide guidance and feedback is really helpful too.
I hope these tips and suggestions give you some good ideas for getting the most out of your English learning journey. It takes a lot of work, but knowing a second language like English will open up so many amazing opportunities for you. Just take it step-by-step, set goals, and have fun with it! You've got this.。
