教学目的

教学要求 1.Learn the new words in Section A:pierce,
license,silly,earring,sixteen-year-olds;have part-time jobs,instead of,on school nights,stay up.
2.Learn the structure"should/shouldn't+be allowed to do sth"by listening the dialogues.
3.Learn to talk about what we are allowed to do and one's "should/shouldn't+be allowed to do sth"and the target language.
重点难点 1.Master the new words and phrases:license,silly,instead of,stay up.
2.Master the target language:
I think students should be allowed to do homework with friends.
I disagree.They talk instead of doing homework. Sixteen-year-olds should not be allowed to drive.
I agree.They aren't serious enough at that age.
Do you think six-year-olds should be allowed to choose their own clothes?

Check the new words by asking Ss to pronounce them correctly.
Ask students the question:"What can you do at school? " Step 2.Presentation
Get Ss to read the statements in 1a and circle"A"(for agree)or"D"(for disagree).
Get Ss to talk about the statements in 1a and work in pairs like this:
A:Do you think teenagers should…?
B:Yes,I do ./No,I don't.
A:I (don't) think Sixteen-year-olds should be allowed to drive.
B:I disagree./I agree.
Step 3.Consolidation
Get Ss to listen to 1b and circle"T"(for ture)or "F"(for false).
Then listen again and check the answers.(=1.T 2.F 3.T) Get students to listen to 2a and check what Kathy thinks

Then ask students to listen to 2b and number their reasons in the correct order.(answers:4,1,5,2,3)
Step 4. Practice
Get students to look at the statements in 1a and make conversations with the phrases in 1c like this:

B:I agree.They aren't serious enough ./I disagree,they are old enough.
A:I think Sixteen-year-olds should be allowed to drive.
B:I disagree.They are too young.
Step 5. Summary
Go through Grammar Focus(P19) and get students to sum up what they learned in this period.
Step 6.Homework
1.Learn the target language by heart.
2.Do some exercises for consolidation.
3.Preview Section A(3a-4),Self Check(1-2).
