1 Andrew的图片。

2配套磁带或光盘。

教学步骤
Reading 1
Step I呈现
l教师说:Suzy’s cousin Andrew likes DIY a lot. He’s crazy about DIY教师板书be crazy about,让学生猜测词义。

2教师呈现课文中Andrew的图片,问学生:Look at this picture. What happened to Andrew?
鼓励学生回答:He tried to hit the nail with a hammer. but he hit a pipe and filled the room with water教师板书pipe、fill…with…,同时说:Yes, it's terrible. 随即板书terrible,让学生猜测词义,教师领读。

3教师板书ceiling,让学生抬头看天花板:Look at the ceiling. There are some lights hanging from it让学生猜测其含义。

教师板书shelf,指着教室里的书架,对某一位学生说:Please get the books on the shelf for me让学生猜测其含义。

教师领读这两个单词。

4教师说:Now open your books and turn to page 45, please. Here are some new words and their meanings. Can you match them? 让学生完成课本第45页B1部分的练习,让学生加深对生词的理解。

5教师接着说:Do you think Suzy's cousin is good at DIY? 鼓励学生根据图片所提供的信息猜测:No, he isn't. He caused a lot of problems when he did things himself. 让学生完成课本第45页B2部分的练习,同时也检查学生对本课内容的预习情况:Match the jobs he did with the problems he caused.
Step II操练
l教师说:Millie wants to retell Suzy’s story about DIY. Listen to Suzy’s article carefully and read the sentences in Part B3 on page 46. Write a T if the sentence is true or an F if it is false教师播放第44页课文录音,让学生看第46页B3部分的练习,边听边判断正误。

2让学生朗读句子,并核对答案,遇到不正确的句子要求学生改正:Read the sentences and correct those with wrong information如:
(3) Suzy’s cousin wanted to put up a picture on the wall.
(4) Suzy’s cousin thought the living room was boring. So he painted it blue.
(5) It took Suzy's cousin five hours to put up the shelf on the wall.
(6) Suzy's cousin thinks he already knows everything about DIY.
3请学生集体朗读改正后的句子:Let's read the corrected sentences together.
Step III阅读
1教师说:Listen to the article again and make some notes about it再次播放课文录音,让学生听录音,记录重要词汇。

教师在两段内容之间使录音稍作停顿,让学生有时间完成记录任务。

基础薄弱的班级可以不听录音,改用快速阅读的方式让学生找出重要词汇并作
记录:Read the article as quickly as possible and make some notes about it
2教师说:Please open your books and turn to page 44. Let's repeat the article after the tape sentence by sentence. Pay attention to your pronunciation and intonation 再次播放录音,学生跟读,提醒学生注意正确的发音。

每段朗读结束后,教师用课件呈现本段的重要词汇、词组,供学生参考。

教师说:I’ll show you some key words and phrases in each paragraph
3教师用课件呈现所有重要词汇、词组,要求学生合上课本,根据这些重要提示分段复述课文内容。

教师说:Close your books, please. Use these key words and useful phrases to retell the article.
Paragraph l: be crazy about, repair, decorate, 1ook terrible.
Paragraph 2: a brighter light, make a mistake, power cut, put up 4 picture, hit a pipe, fill…with…
Paragraph 3: living room, boring, paint…blue, cei ling, floor, cat
Paragraph 4: a shelf, above, spends five hours, not stay, much higher Paragraph 5: buy, advise, make him angry, attend lessons, know much more
4教师用课件呈现一张表格,请学生准备三至五分钟,然后完整复述课文内容。

教师说:Can you retell Suzy's story about her cousin in your own words/对于能自己组织语言,完整、流利地复述课文的学生给了.表扬:Great! /Excellent!
Jobs Problems
He put in a brighter light in his bedroom. The whole house had a power cut.
He put up a picture on his bedroom wall. He hit a pipe and filled the room with
water.
He painted the walls in the living room blue. He painted the ceiling, the floor, and even his cat blue.
He put up a shelf for Suzy. The books couldn’t stay there because
one end of the shelf was much higher than
the other.
Step IV家庭作业
1熟读课文,记忆本课时所学的词汇、词组和句型。

2能力较强的学生背诵课文。

3完成教师布置的书面作业。

Reading 2
Step I呈现
1教师说:We've learnt about Suzy's cousin Andrew. Tell me something about him. 引导学生回顾并归纳课文内容:Andrew is crazy about DIY. There are lots of funny DIY stories about him.
2教师继续说:What funny stories did you learn about? 引导学生回顾文章各段内容并简要复述故事。

在基础较弱的班级,教师可以提供以下提示:
Paragraph 2: put in a brighter light (a power cut); put up a picture (hit a pipe) Paragraph 3: paint the living room blue (all blue)
Paragraph 4 put up a shelf (one end higher than the other)
Step II操练
1在学生复述故事的时候,教师引出需要讲解的语言点外板书:be crazy about、put in、power cut、put up、fill…with、not only… but (also)…、advise sb to do等。

2通过创设情境、与学生真实交流和展示例句等方式,帮助学生掌握上述语言点的用法。

以not only…but (also)…为例,教师说:DIY can not only help us save money, but (also) make us more creative. 在与学生的交流中,帮助学生体会并发现这些语言点的含义及用法。

3鼓励学生对不懂的内容提问,针对学生的提问,教师解答并帮助他们扫清障碍。

4教师讲解重要的词汇与词组。

Step III活动
1教师说:Open your books and turn to page 46, please. Suzy is telling Kitty about her cousin's DIY. Help her complete the conversation让学生完成课本第46页B4部分的练习。

教师巡视,给予适当的指导和帮助。

2教师说:Let's read Suzy and Kitty's conversation. Girls will play the role of Suzy and boys will play the role of Kitty. Then change roles. 让学生分角色朗读B4部分Suzy和Kitty的对话,同时核对答案。

3教师说:Let's read the conversation together全班朗读对话,加深对于对话大意的理解。

4组织学生分成四人小组,联系自己的实际展开讨论,编写一段对话,引导学生增强DIY的意识。

教师可以用课件提供以下问题,帮助学生展开思路。

(1) What do you like to do?
(2) What do you often help your parents do?
(3) Do you think it's good to help with the housework?
(4) Are you good at DIY?
(5) What do you think j5 the best thing about DIY? Why?
(6) DO you have any problems with DIY?
(7) Who can you ask for DIY advice?
5教师总结:Things learnt through practice are more effective than the ones learnt from books. Try to do some DIY work and you can learn what you never expected. Step IV 家庭作业
1记忆本课时所学的词汇、词组和句型
2熟练朗读并复述课文。

3 预习Grammar。
