With a little forward planning and a positive attitude, you can create a trip
that everyone will enjoy.
1. Bring snacks
Hungry kids and unhealthy food choices on the road mean disaster. Avoid the headache and save some money by packing healthy snacks before you set out on your trip. If you’re planning to travel by air, pack a small cooler filled with snacks,
but leave the drinks at home since you won’t be able to get them through security. When you are taking road trips, pack extra bottles of water and a larger cooler with sandwiches and snacks and put them in an easy-to-access part of the car.
2. Have things to do
Make sure that each member of the family brings along something to do on Your bookworms will need extra books, gamers will need plenty of batteries, lovers will need a few extra DVDs for the trip. Bring along a few decks of card, a
plain notebook, and some crayons for some low-tech fun.
3. Keep luggage simple
Keep travel costs low by packing light and taking just a few pieces of luggage.
Extra luggage can cost more on some airlines and will be difficult to carry. And you
may fail to take care of your kids. The less luggage you have, the less likelihood
that some of your luggage will go missing.
4. Keep paperwork organized
One parent should be in charge of organizing paperwork for the trip, which
includes tickets, passports, maps, hotel information, and other travel documents.
Keep everything in one place will help keep tickets at bay. the

better. Your eyes can tell you that the glass ball is round, but by holding it in
your hands, you can feel how smooth and cool the ball is. You can feel how heavy the

You can even feel sounds with your skin. Have you ever wanted to know why some
people like very loud music? They must like to feel the loud sounds.
All children soon learn what the sentence “Don't touch it !” means. They hear it quite often. However, most of us keep on touching things as we grow up. In shops,
we touch things we might buy, such as food and clothes .To see something well, we have to touch it.
The bottoms of our feet can feel things, too. You will know that when you walk
on the warm sand, cool grass or bad floor.

The spread of Western eating habits around the world is for the environment. Those findings come from a new report in the journal bad for human health
and
Nature .
David Tilman is a professor at the University of Minnesota. In the study, he
examined information from 100 nations to show what people ate and how diet affected
health. Mr. Tilman noted a movement beginning in the 1960s. He found that as nations industrialized(工业化 ), population increased and earnings rose. More people began
to adopt what has been called the Western diet. The Western diet is high in sugar,
fat, oil and meat. By eating these foods, people began to get fatter and sicker.
“The food, let us say, in the 15 richest nations of the world, right now contains about 400 or 500 extra calories(热量) a day that are eaten beyond what people need,
and that leads people to gain weight.”
David Tillman says overweight people are at greater risk for diseases like
diabetes, heart disease and some cancers. Diabetes is shooting to very high rates
in the United States and across Europe. Heart disease is a major cause of death in
the Western nations. Unfortunately when people become industrialized, if they
adopt this Western diet, they are going to have these same health problems.
A diet bad for human beings, it seems, is also bad for the environment. As the
world ’s population grows, experts say more forests and areas will become farmland
for crops or grasslands for raising cattle. These areas will be needed to meet the
increasing demand for food.
Mr. Tilman calls the link between diet, the environment and human health,“a
dilemma”, a situation where it is very difficult to decide what to do. He says one
possible solution is leaving the Western diet behind.
58.Why did people get fatter in the 1960s?
A. They ate foods high in calories.
B. They adopted a western lifestyle.
C. They set aside little time for exercise.
D. They had a better life and became
lazier.
59.According to the text, which disease is increasing rapidly in the United States?
A. diabetes
B. skin disease
C. cancers
D. heart disease
60.What can we infer from Paragraph 5?
A. There will be fewer and fewer forests.
B. People won’ t care about the environment.
C. The world’ s population will grow faster than ever.
D. Raising cattle will be the most moneymaking business.
61.What is the purpose of the author in writing this passage?
A. To tell people effective ways to keep healthy.
B. To call on people to give up the Western diet.
C. To show the problems industrialized nations are facing.
D. To draw people ’s attention to environmental protection.

A warm drink of milk before bed has long been the best choice for those wanting
a good night's sleep. But now a study has found it really does help people nod off
— if it is milked from a cow at night.
Researchers have discovered that "night milk" contains more melatonin (褪黑激
素 ), which has been proven to help people feel sleepy and reduce anxiety.
The study, by researchers from Seoul, South Korea, involved mice being fed
with dried milk powder made from cows milked both during the day and at night.
Those given night milk, which contained 10 times the amount of melatonin, were
less active and less anxious than those fed with the milk collected during daytime,
according to the study published in The Journal of Medicinal Food.
Night milk quickened the start of sleep and caused the mice to sleep longer.
While the effort of cows milk harvested at different time has not been tested
on humans up to now, taking melatonin drugs has been suggested to those who are
struggling to fall asleep at night.
Previous studies have also indicated that milk can be excellent for helping sleep because of the calcium content, which helps people to relax.
Milk is also sugar-free and additive-free with nutritionists recommending skimmed milk as the best choice before bed as it is the least fattening. The more fat you
take in before bedtime, the greater burden you will put on your body at night.
62.According to the text, the mice fed with daytime milk _____.
A. started sleep more easily
B. were more anxious
63.Which of the following is true of melatonin according to the text?
A.It's been tested on mice for ten times.
B.It can make people more energetic.
C.It exists in milk in great amount.
D.It's used in sleeping drugs.
64.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Night Milk and Sleep
B. Fat, Sugar and Health
C. An Experiment on Mice
D. Milk Drinking and Health
65. How does the author support the theme(主题) of the text?
A. By giving examples.
B. By stating arguments.
C. By explaining statistical data.
D. By providing research results.

My name is Lihua. Today I feel honored to run for the president of the English club.
I feel I am quite fit for the job. First, I have a lot of experience and received
wide praise from my classmates for my job as a monitor. Second, I am a warm-hearted
person who is ready to help others.
If I am lucky enough to become the president, I will invite some famous professors
to give us lectures on English, which can broaden our horizons to the outside world. What’s more, I will hold some interschool activities, in which we can compete with students from other schools in speech contests or debate contests.
I sincerely hope you will give me a chance. My dear friends please trust me and vote for me. Thank you.。
