本课是北师大版《初中英语》九年级第八单元的 Communication Workshop 部分。本单元的话题是关于发现的事件，包括科学发现，介绍获奖研究人员， 实验报告。通过前三个输入课的学习，进行了语言学习和初步运用，即学生通 过阅读能够了解科学探索的重大发现和研究人员坚持努力的案例，能够运用过 去时态和表示时间状语的连词描述一些科学发现以及从科学实验报告中领悟学 习到的启示；通过听力能够了解研究人员的不懈努力付出，体会成功的艰难。 本课是单元学习内容的综合应用与输出课，侧重语言的体验与应用，结合话 题，培养写作能力。本课内容是 Rich 由于自己超重不擅长体育而对运动失去了 信心，在一次打乒乓球时受到体育老师的表扬而开始积极努力参与运动，最终 减重并成为运动之星。学生通过 Rich 的改变，结合自己在此方面的已知，完成 详细描述我的经历的写作任务，并且做出相应的评价和改进措施。
