picture 和 photo 都有图片的意思，但它们的区别大的很。

一、picture 可以作名词，也可以作动词
1、picture 作名词，表示以绘画、油画或摄影的形式表现出来的视觉，也可以是一个图像，意为”图画；绘画；相片；照片；电视图像“，例如：
The little boy wanted to paint the picture of his mother.小男孩想画他母亲的画。

2、picture 作动词，表示以绘画或摄影的形式来展示，意为”显示在照片上;用图片显示“等，例如：

She tried to picture his reaction.她试图想象他的反应。

二、photograph 缩写为photo，可以作名词，在非正式场合也可以作动词，但现在 photo 被普遍使用。

photo 作名词时，表示用相机拍出来的图像，意为”照片，相片“，例如：
My younger sister direly wanted to take a photo with her favorite singer.我妹妹非常想和她最喜欢的歌手合影。

三、两者的区别
1、所有的 photos 都可以是 pictures，但是所有的 pictures 不是photos.
2、picture 是所有以绘画，油画或摄影的形式表现出来的视觉或是一张图像，而 photo 是借助相机出来的照片。

3、制作一张 picture 需要花很多时间，但是相机拍一张 photo 需要的时间很短。

4、picture 的缩写形式是 pic，而 photo 是 photograph 的缩写。

5、作为动词的 picture 表示以绘画或摄影的形式来展示情景或场面，而 photo 只在不正式的场合中作为动词，意为”拍照“。
