In his eagerness to draw quick profit from the trees, he has cut them down in large numbers, only to find that without them he has lost the best friends he had.Two thousand years ago a rich and powerful country cut down its treesto build warships, with which to gain itself an empire. It gained the empire but, without its trees, its soil became hard and poor. When the empire fell to pieces, the country found itself faced by floods and starvation.Even though a government realizes the importance of a plentiful supplyof trees, it is difficult for it to persuade the villager to see this. The villager wants wood to cook his food with, and he can earn money by making charcoal(木炭) or selling wood to the townsman(城市居民). He is usually too lazy or too careless to plant and look after trees. So unlessthe government has a good system of control, or can educate the people, the forests will slowly disappear. This does not only mean that the villager’s sons and grandsons have fewer trees. The results are even more serious. For where there are treestheir roots break the soil up—allowing the rain to sink in and also holdthe soil, thus preventing it being washed away easily, but where thereare no trees, the soil becomes hard and poor. The rain falls on hard groundand flows away on the surface, causing floods and carrying away with itthe rich topsoil, in which crops grow so well. When all the topsoil is gone, nothing remains but a worthless desert.36. The purpose that the writer wrote this article is to ______.A. tell people the use of woodB. tell people the function of tree rootsC. warn that man mustn’t destroy forests any moreD. explain how trees help to prevent drought and floods37. In the writer’s opinion,_____, or the forests will slowly disappear.A. measures must be takenB. people shouldn’t draw benefit from the treeC. government must realize the serious resultsD. unless trees never be cut down38. According to the article we know it is _____ to prevent the forestsfrom slowly disappearing.A. necessary but impossibleB. necessary but difficultC. impossible and unimportantD. difficult and impossible39. In the last two paragraphs the writer wanted to make it clear that_____ .A. where there are no trees, the soil becomes poor but softB. where there are many trees, there are more floodsC. where there are no trees, the land might become desert slowlyD. floods will make the land become desertB ★★When the famous dancer Fred Astaire was interviewed for a job by a Hollywood producer, the movie “expert” turned him down, saying, “Can’t sing. Can’t act. Dances a little.” Here’s another stupid mistake. When the great scientist Albert Einstein was at school, his teachers considered him rather dull. And a final story, the famous Polish pianist Paderewski was told by a teacher that he’d never be a success as a performer because the middle finger on each hand was too short. What lessons can be drawn from these three experiences? First, truegenius (天才) cannot be suppressed(压抑). For some reason or other it works its way out. Second, early judgements of a person’s abilities may be unfair or just wrong. Third, when there is a real determination to succeed, obstacles(障碍) fall by the wayside. The famous motto “ad astra per aspera” can be translated as “To the stars through hardships.” Astaire, Einstein and Paderewski proved their critics wrong.40. Which of the following best expresses the main idea of the passage?A. Fred Astaire was a famous dancer.B. True ability will always make itself known.C. Some people never get discouraged.D. Albert Einstein proved his teachers wrong.41. When Paderewski’s teachers told him he’d never be a success, theywere ____.A. being humorousB. cheerful, though concernedC. somewhat hesitantD. seriously mistaken42. “Ad astra per aspera” is used in the passage _____.A. as a motto for the three men’s livesB. to show the value of LatinC. to send the reader to the dictionaryD. to point out that genius is always recognized early43. The writer of the passage thinks that the reader _____.A. knows that the three men were successesB. someday dreams to become like one of the menC. sympathizes(同情) with the poor teachers of the three menD. knows that Fred Astaire was an actor famous for performingShakespeare’s playsC ★★Seven out of 10 people have tried to learn a language at some point in their life and most wish they could speak one more fluently, a survey found. And nine out of 10 people want their children to learn foreign languages at primary school, said the poll for the OCR exam board(牛津剑桥皇家考试委员会). Languages are no longer compulsory(义务的)for pupils aged 14 and over. But the government wants all primary school pupils in England to learn a language by the end of the decade.A survey of 1,000 people was carried out, which is organised by the National Centre of Languages. The study suggested people in London were the most likely (78%) to have studied another language, Scots were next at 74%, followed by the northeast of England (71%). In the west of England, more than six in 10 have knowledge of another language.Barrie Hunt from OCR said: “People are often very negative about Britain’s grasp of foreign languages but in reality the number who canspeak a second language is impressive. The great joke is that many of these people will have no formal qualification to show their family, friends and employers what they can do, whether they are fluent or just able to hold a short conversation in another language.”He said OCR had set a new language scheme called Asset Languages to encourage people of all ages to learn languages in bite-sized amounts and get a qualification in them. The scheme also provides assessment for community languages spoken at home, such as Chinese, Urdu and Punjabi.Isabella Moore from the National Centre of Languages said: “Employers want evidence of good communication skills, confidence and outward-looking attitudes, so a language qualification is an important addition to anyone’s resume.”44.

(1)求通项a n ;(2)若S n =242,求n . [解] (1)设{a n }的首项为a 1,公差为d ,则⎩⎪⎨⎪⎧ a 1+9d =30,a 1+19d =50.解得⎩⎪⎨⎪⎧a 1=12,d =2.∴通项a n =a 1+(n -1)d =10+2n . (2)由S n =na 1+n n -12d =242,得12n +n n -12×2=242,解得n =11,或n =-22(舍去).故 n =11.18.(本小题满分12分)在△ABC 中,角A ,B ,C 所对的边分别为a ,b ,c .已知sin A +sin C =p sin B (p ∈R ),且ac =14b 2. (1)若a ,b ,c 成等差数列,证明:sin A +sin C =2sin(A +C ); (2)若a ,b ,c 成等比数列,求cos B 的最小值.[解] (1)因为a ,b ,c 成等差数列,所以a +c =2b ,即2sin B =sin A +sin C ,因为sin B =sin(A +C ), 所以sin A +sin C =2sin(A +C ).(2)因为a ,b ,c 成等比数列,所以b 2=ac ,所以cos B =a 2+c 2-b 22ac ≥2ac -b 22ac =2ac -ac 2ac =12,当且仅当a =c =b 时,cos B 取得最小值12,此时三角形为正三角形.21.(本小题满分12分)在△ABC 中,BC =6,点D 在BC 边上,且(2AC -AB )cos A =BC cos C . [解] (1)由(2AC -AB )cos A =BC cos C 及正弦定理, 有(2sin B -sin C )cos A =sin A cos C ,得2sin B cos A =sin C cos A +sin A cos C =sin(A +C )=sin B ,所以cos A =12.因为0°<A <180°,所以A =60°.(2)由正弦定理BC sin A =AC sin B ,得sin B =AC sin A BC =12.因为A +B <180°,所以B =30°,所以C =90°. 因为D 是BC 的中点,所以DC =3, 由勾股定理,得AD =AC 2+DC 2=21.(3)证明:因为12AD ·BC =12AB ·AC sin A ,且AD =33,BC =6,sin A =32,所以AB ·AC =36.因为BC 2=AB 2+AC 2-2AB ·AC cos A , 所以AB 2+AC 2=72,所以AB =AC =6=BC , 所以△ABC 为等边三角形.22.(本小题满分12分)已知数列{a n }的前n 项和S n 和通项a n 满足2S n +a n =1,数列{b n }中,b 1=1,b 2=12,2b n +1=1b n +1b n +2(n ∈N *).(1)求数列{a n },{b n }的通项公式;(2)数列{c n }满足c n =a n b n ,求证:c 1+c 2+c 3+…+c n <34.[解] (1)由2S n +a n =1,得S n =12(1-a n ).当n ≥2时,a n =S n -S n -1=12(1-a n )-12(1-a n -1)=-12a n +12a n -1,即2a n =-a n +a n -1,∴a n a n -1=13(由题意可知a n -1≠0).∴{a n }是公比为13的等比数列,而S 1=a 1=12(1-a 1),∴a 1=13,∴a n =13×⎝⎛⎭⎫13n -1=⎝⎛⎭⎫13n. AWhen Margaret Butler,a former athlete from Canada,first started running through remote villages in Rwanda as a break from her job there,the children who saw her speed past would burst into tears.“I was scaring a lot of children because I was so wh ite that they thought I was a ghost,” Ms.Butler explains.Once they got used to the sight of a rapidly moving,tall,golden woman,the village boys took to falling in step with her.“But rarely the little girls,” Butler says.“It’s not normal in Rwanda for little girls to participate in running.”It wasn’t the only way girls were being left behind in Rwanda,she discovered.When Butler arrived in Rwanda in 2021,she hadn’t planned on starting a nonprofit called The Komera Project,which supports secondary education and provides life-skill helping and sport coaching for girls.With a background in international education,Butler was visiting schools on behalf of the Boston-based nonprofit group Partners In Health.But in Rwanda the education statistics for girls and young women are depressing:Less than 15 percent go to secondary school,and less than 5 percent of that group continue on to university.Secondary education,which costs about $200 a year for day school,$500 for boarding school,and $3,000 foruniversity,is out of reach for most families.If money is available,Rwandans educate sons first.As Butler talked with students,she realized something.She thought she should―and could do something.Then Butler hosted Rwanda’s first run forgirls.To her surprise,300 girls turned out to participate.As the girls tookoff from the starting line,cheers of “be strong”―lifted above the crowd.Inspired by it,Butler reached out to friends and family asking for donations to fund girls’ education.She raised $2,000―enou gh to support 10girls for one year in day school.However,that was only the beginning.By2021,she had established Komera,based in Boston,as a nonprofit scholarship fund.1.The children cried when they saw Butler,because .

Question 6
