Unit OneWriting in Focus审题、构思与提纲一、认真审题写好英语作文的第一步是仔细审题。
通过认真审题就可以紧扣主题、抓住重点,使写作一开始就具有逻辑性和整体感,相反,不审题所写出来的文章容易变得杂乱无章或者跑题。
审题的过程不但要吃透标题而且还要推敲每段前可能给出的主题句或者其它提示内容。
下面以过去曾经考过的四级写作真题为例:Directions:For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition about What Would Happen If There Were No Power in three paragraphs. You are given the first sentence or part of the first sentence of each paragraph. Your part of the composition should be no less than 100 words, not including the words given. Remember to write clearly. You should write this composition on the Composition Sheet.1)Ever since early this century, electricity has become an essential part of our modern life.2)If there were no electric power,…3)Therefore…因为题目中的关键词power是一个多义词,表示“力量,能力,权力,强国,精力,电力,军事力量”等等许多意义,有少数考生就写跑题了。
有些人写了关于人的能力的主题,还有些人阐述权力的题材。
如果将题目与每段首句结合起来仔细推敲就可明白题目中的power一词应该是“电力”的意思。
这个实例说明只要抽出一点点时间认真审题就可以避免这种跑题错误。
二、构思某些人写作时很长时间无法动笔的原因主要有两种。
一种是尽管一些人满脑子素材,但是不知如何下笔才好。
要扫除这一障碍,就应该注意避免一开始就想把文章写得尽善尽美。
应该将想到的素材根据题目主题和涉及的概念范围去蕪存菁。
去掉一些与主题无关的内容之后就可草拟提纲。
另一种是有些人即使审题之后也无法动笔,脑海里缺乏素材。
扫除这一障碍的构思方法有“timelining”(时间排列法=lifelining)、“acronyming”(首字母缩合法)、“mindmapping”(思路整理法)、“scattering”(扩散法,类似于mindmapping),等等。
作者发现无内容可写时就可以采用一种合适的构思法。
1)“timelining”构思法举例:1987 1996 2004 2005 2006 2007#——————#——————#———————#———————#———————#——→I was My family I met I graduated I studied I startedBorn moved to my from in Canada university Shanghai boyfriend high school分析:从上例可得知“timelining”构思法就是将构思内容按时间顺序快速列出来的方法。
显而易见,如果采用这种构思法,写作文的时侯,尤其是写记叙文时,就有素材可写了。
2)“mindmapping”构思法举例:分析:从上例可看出“mindmapping”就是将构思内容按照正确的思路、紧扣拟写文章的主题分门别类整理的构思技巧。
这种方法适应于多种文体,尤其是描述文,的构思。
采用“mindmapping”构思法之后不但有了素材而且文章的提纲也容易拟定出来了。
根据主题写好主题句之后就可围绕主题扩展出段落。
下面就是利用“mindmapping”构思法所整理出来的素材所写的短文实例:A Boyish GirlNancy is a boyish girl. Her hair is short and straight just like a boy’s. She doesn’t like those bright colors such as red, yellow, pink and green, but likes white, black and grey best. Never caring for skirts, stockings and stylish shoes, she loves wearing jackets and jeans. She always says that she should have beena boy.三、草拟提纲要写出思路清晰、紧扣文章主题的好文章就应该草拟文章提纲。
有些人不愿意用一点时间来拟定提纲,拿起笔就写,结果不仅容易偏离主题,而且写得又乱又慢。
当然,因为作文考试通常限定半个小时,所以要写出详细的提纲并不现实,但是快速拟定出粗略的提纲还是非常有必要的。
1.如何拟定提纲草拟提纲时,要认真分析提示信息,找出控制主题的关键词,首先要弄明白文章要表达的观点,文章应该从哪几方面来阐述;其次要开拓思路,发挥联想,考虑每个方面用什么例证等,接着就可以构思出文章的提纲。
例如,如果给出的作文标题是“Coal Mine Accidents in China”(中国煤矿的事故),用上述方法分析之后,首先会发现文章可以从如下几方面来阐述:1) Present situation2) Causes3)Measures给每个方面加上恰当的例证之后,就得出文章的总体框架,也就是如下提纲:1) Present situationa.
