2021-2022学年江西省九江第一中学高一年级下学期期末考试英语试题

2021-2022学年江西省九江第一中学高一年级下学期期末考试英语试题1. Now that the Government’s official “stay at home” advice has been lifted, many office workers are flooding back into city centres, alongside students who are returning to in-person classes across Britain. As a result, we’re seeing demand for rental homes in key city locations rise by as much as 70% compared to this time last year when working from home and online lectures were the new norm. Take a look at the hottest rental locations outside London.1. Clifton, BristolThe hottest rental market in Britain is Clifton, where rental demand is up by 71%. The area is packed with gorgeous Georgian houses or period flats which have the double benefit of being within walking distance of the city centre, and also close to Bristol University and a good choice of local pubs, cafes, restaurants, and shops.2. Didsbury, ManchesterThe neighbourhood of Didsbury, just over five miles (or a seven-minute train ride) south of Manchester’s city centre, has long been a hotspot. Didsbury still has a real urban village feel, several lovely parks and an annual summer festival, although its independent shops are slowly but surely being driven out by chains. Property wise there is a good mix of modern purpose built flats, and period houses and flats. Interest from renters is up 62 per cent in Didsbury.3. Edinburgh per cent. This rental hotspot on today’s league table is north of the border. The beautiful university city o f Edinburgh has seen demand rise by 58 percent. With its historic UNESCO World Heritage centre, villagey suburbs like Stockbridge, and even the seaside at Portobello this is truly a “something for everyone” option.1. What is one of the reasons for the increasing need of rental homes?A.The government’s “stay at home” advice.B.Students’ taking online lectures.C.Workers’ returning to office.D.London’s overcrowding.2. What may contribute to Didsbury being a hotspot for rental?A.Walking distance to the city center. B.Convenient chain stores.C.Good location near the sea. D.unique rural feel.3. Which city has increased most in rental demand?A.Clifton B.Didsbury C.London D.Edinburgh2. Music can make you laugh, make you cry, give you chills, shake your body, or — as anyone who has ever attended an evening performance at the concert knows too well — put you to sleep. NewMusic has been used in healing ceremonies for thousands of years and across cultures —but let’s talk about a surprising new study out of Hong Kong. Researchers found that study participants who listened to music for 30 to 45 minutes before bed every night for three months fell asleep more quickly, slept more deeply, and felt better the next morning. The catch: The songs they listened to were all set at tempos between 60 and 80 beats per minute — our general heart rate when falling asleep.Of course, the same is true of energetic music: The Royal Automobile Club Foundation for Motoring ranked Wagner’s “Ride of The Valkyries” as the world’s most dangerous song for motorists, thanks to a wild tempo that challenges drivers’ normal sense o f speed.Armed with findings about the link between backbeat and heartbeat, sleep therapists have even begun working with musicians to create what could become known to history as the chillest music ever. In 2011, the English trio known as Marconi Union worked with the British Academy of Sound Therapy to create an eight-minute instrumental track called “Weightless,” and it worked. Dr. David Lewis-Hodgson of Mindlab International even added: “I would advise against driving while listening to the song becaus e it could be dangerous.”Want to help your relaxation before bedtime? Make this your official playlist for a sweet sleep: • “Weightless” by Marconi Union• “Clair de Lune” by Claude Debussy• “Canzonetta Sul’aria” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart• “Nocturne in E Flat Major Op. 9 No. 2” by Frederic Chopin• “The Boxer” by Simon & GarfunkelSleep tight!1. What does the underlined word this refer to in the 1st paragraph?A.Music makes you emotional. B.Music makes you move along.C.Music makes you sleepy. D.Music makes you excited.2. Which way can make you sleep more quickly?A.Listening to The Boxer on bed. B.Listening to Wagner’s in the car.C.Playing songs of Marconi Union. D.Doing puzzles for half an hour.3. What do we know about “Weightless”?A.It is against by Dr. David Lewis-Hodgson. B.Its beat may pace with the heart rate.C.It is a treatment for the loss of sleep D.Its effect needs to be tested.4. Which may have the fastest beats?A.Clair de Lune. B.Weightless.3. I started out with my first Newfoundland pony when I was 13, and I have been hooked on them ever since. It was common to see my pony tied to a pole in the parking lot of our local supermarket, Bidgood’s, where I’d do some of the family shopping as part of my regular chores. I would ride on the side of the road and some people in their cars would time our speed. As an adult, I still have the privilege of caring for Newfoundland ponies. I have a small farm located in Cappahayden, which is an outport on the Irish Loop and situated in one of the oldest settled areas of Newfoundland. The Irish Loop is a well-known tourist route. Here, I welcome visitors who wish to know more about Newfoundland’s heritage ponies. My farm is one where you can p et the resident ponies and ask as many questions as you like about them and their history. People are always fascinated to learn that my current trio of ponies is a little family consisting of a mother and her two daughters of different fathers. I explain a little about the history of the breed and also relate the current difficulties it faces. The population of Newfoundland ponies is like that of the Newfoundland people themselves. It is an older population, and the number of ponies passing on is growing at a faster rate than the new births. If circumstances cannot be changed for the better, it simply will not be possible to sustain the breed, and that, of course, is a serious concern.Another serious problem is keeping track of the ponies’ actual whereabouts. Unfortunately, not all owners or breeders keep their paperwork up-to-date with the Newfoundland Pony Society. I try to keep a record of the ponies’ new sites they are moved around from home to home, so they are not lost to the Newfoundland pony community.Being hard-working, honest, sociable, trusting, kind, caring and talented are just a few of the breed’s features. Once you meet them, you cannot help but fall in love with them, just as I did!1. How did the writer do shopping when she was in her teens?A.By bike. B.In people’s cars.C.On her pony. D.On foot.2. How many Newfoundland Ponies does the writer have?A.2. B.3. C.4. D.5.3. What does the underlined word whereabouts in the 4th paragraph mean?A.locations. B.characters. C.number. D.history.4. Which statement about the Newfoundland ponies is right?B.They are in danger of dying out.A.The writer has kept them since hisadulthood.C.They are often rejected by their owners. D.They often live individually.4. I’ve never been one for Disney movies and other animated movies aimed at kids that are often in theaters now. So deciding to watch Spirited Away, I was feeling pretty unenthusiastic but itsSpirited Away is about a 10 year old girl named Chihiro. While on the way to her new home her parents decide to take a detour and go down an old road. After passing through a tunnel they end up in what seems to be an abandoned town. In the town, her parents find an open food stall and eat the food, saying they can pay the shop owner once they get there. But they turn into pigs! Guided by Haku, who she meets while looking around, she sets off to try and save her parents and return to her own world.Although it is a children’s fi lm, I found the story to be surprisingly mature and enjoyable. Near the beginning of the story, Chihiro was a bit of a spoiled kid, but she progresses a lot as a character as she meets and interacts with the residents of the spirit world. The movie does a lot to create a sense of mystery and often uses soft worldbuilding. The animation is wonderful. It all flows very well and allows for breathtaking scenes that really bring the world to life alongside your imagination. The film has its fair share of twists and turns and was very enjoyable, while I feel that we could benefit greatly from multiple rewatches, which I’d gladly do, in order to get the full experience. This is a movie I would definitely recommend to all ages. A small note, it does show blood in a few scenes, so if you’re a parent whether or not that’s okay for your child would be up to you. All in all, I feel that despite not being a part of the intended audience, this is an excellent movie that deserves a watch no matter what type of person you are.1. What made the writer first watch the movie?A.His always loving the style. B.The amazing plots.C.Its breathtaking scenes. D.People’s comments on it.2. What do we know about Chihiro?A.She travels to an old town for fun with her parents.B.She changes into a responsible girl.C.She stays in the spirit city forever.D.She changes her parents into pigs.3. How does the writer find the movie?A.Childish and imaginary. B.Wonderful but incomplete.C.Entertaining and developed. D.Bloody but amazing.4. What is the style of the passage?A.Review. B.Journal. C.Biography. D.Advertisement.5. How To Make A Poster—A Complete Guide To Picture Perfect Poster Design Nowadays, posters are still being used in advertising to grab people’s attention. 2017届江西省新余市第一中学高三上学期调研考试(一)(开学考试)英语试题(图片版,含解析)

高三调研考试(一)英语参考答案听力材料Text 1W: That's a cool jacket. Where did you get it?M: My brother bought it when he was on vacation in India, and he gave it to me for my birthday.Text 2W:I think this painting would look good in our living room. What do you think?M:Sure. Let's buy it. Luckily the price is within our budget.Text 3W: What do you think about all the different diets that people go on?M: I don't think dieting is good for you. It's much better to eat a balanced diet and never get overweight. I once had a diet and felt terrible and gave up.Text 4W: Can you lend me some money?M: I am sorry. I've already gone through my paycheck for the week.W: You’ve gone through all your money so quickly? I thought you were well-off.M: Not me. You know that I’m always careless about money.Text 5W: Bob, did you see Professor Henry? I need him to sign this paper.M: He is in his office, but you'd better choose your words carefully while talking to him. He is a bit upset today. W: Thanks for the warning.M: That's all right.Text 6W: Oh, no. It seems that I've lost my train ticket.M: Are you kidding? The train leaves in an hour. Where did you put it?W: It was in my pocket, but now I can't find it.M: Is it in the other pocket?W: No, it is not there. I'm going to have to buy another ticket.M: Let's go to the enquiry desk first to check whether anyone had got it and turned it in.Text 7W: Good evening, Mr. Taylor. I'm so glad you were able to come.M: Glad to meet you again, Mrs. Zhao. You are so kind.W: Now dinner's ready. Let’s go over to the dinner table.M: Oh, it's a real Chinese meal. Oh, there are so many dishes.W: I'm glad you like them. Let's hope for good cooperation between us.M: Pretty good that our cooperation has been going on so well up to now.Text 8W: Matthew, do you know much about body language in countries around the world?M: Sure, Jane. I've picked up a few things from traveling around for work. Why?W: Well, I had a meeting today with a woman from Japan and she wouldn't stop bowing! I didn't know what to do!M: Well, Japanese businessmen and women typically bow to greet each other in Japan. She might dislike your strong handshake.W: But she was in America! Shouldn't she have known that strong handshakes in America mean confidence and respect?M: Things are different in Japan. You know, in some countries, making eye contact with others is considered rude. W: So that’s why she wouldn’t look at me in the meeting.Text 9W: There are lots of new teachers in our class this semester.M: Yeah, so what do you think about the teachers?W: To be honest, I like all of them, except for the math teacher. Though he must be quite young, he seems like an old person. He's so boring.M: I think so too. I don't like him either. Well, who do you like best?W: It might be the English teacher. What about you?M: Me, too. She speaks very clearly and doesn't use very complicated words so that it is easy for us to understand her.W: She is a pretty good teacher! With her help I think I can make great progress in English.M: Yeah, I like her way of teaching. She told us to pay more attention to communicating than memorizing grammar rules.W: I think it's a good way to develop our language ability.M: Actually, our new math teacher is a good person. He just can't find an appropriate way to teach us.Text 10W:Today, I was resting on a bench at a subway station and a very tired woman came and sat next to me. I said hello and offered her some of the sweet that I was eating, but she refused politely, saying she had just been to a coffee shop and she was already full. We talked for about half an hour. She complained of a few things and I understood her but I also helped her to notice the bright side. When we said goodbye she was a different person, her tiredness seemed to be gone and instead of sighs, as she came, left with smile, thanking me for talking to her. I thanked her too for telling me so many things about her life.A few minutes later, right before riding the subway train I saw a blind man coming. Going next to him, I offered help and helped him step onto the subway train and we talked all the way to his stop. He was pleasantly surprised and gave me his name card before getting out of the train, and I promised to call.1—5 BACAA6—10 CBACC11—15 BAABC16—20 ABACBA这是一篇广告类的说明文,主要介绍了欧洲四个国家的首都即将举办的音乐节的相关信息。

Dent station located on the Settel to Carlisle railway line, is said to be surrounded by the most beautiful scenery in the country. There lines stillmake a profit and cash can be found to keep them in good condition. But on the country branch line, the situati on is differe nt. As track wears out, it is not replaced. In stead speed limits are in troduced, making the journey Ion ger tha n n ecessary and discouragi ng travelers. If a bridge is dangerous, there is often only one thing for British Rail to do:go out and find money from ano ther places. This is exactly what it did a few mon ths ago when a bridge at Bridling station was threatening to fall down. Repairs were calculated at 200,000 pounds just for one bridge, so British Rail was pleased, and rather surprised when two local councils(理事会)offered half that amount of money.32.
