2017年高考英语一轮复习阅读理解专项试题及答案阅读理解阅读下列材料,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。

AIt is obvious that doctors recognize obesity as a health problem. So why is it so hard for them to talk to their patients about it?The results of two surveys, one of primary care physicians and the other of patients, found that while most doctors want to helppatients lose weight and think it is their responsibility to do so, they often don’t know what to say.“So while doctors may tell patients they are overweight, the convers ation often ends there,” said Christine C. Ferguson, director of the Stop Obesity Alliance. “Patients are not told about the possibility of diabetes (a kind of disease),” she said. “And doctors don’t feel they have good information to give. They felt that they didn’t have adequate tools to address this problem. The lack of dialogue hurts patients, too. The patient survey, of over 1,000 adults, found that most overweight patients don’t even know that they’re too heavy. Only 39 percent of overweight people surveyed had ever been told by a health care provider that they were overweight.Of those who were told they were obese, 90 percent were alsotold by their doctors to lose weight, the survey found. In fact most have tried to lose weight and may have been successful in the past—and many are still trying, the survey found. And many understand that losing even a small amount of weight can have a positive impact on their health and reduce their risk of obesityrelated diseases like hypertension and diabetes.Dr. William Bestermann Jr., medical director of Holston Medical Group, in Kingsport, Tenn. , which ranks the 10th in obesity among metropolitan areas in the United States, said the dialogue had to be anongoing one and could not be dropped after just one mention of the problem. “If you’re to be successful with helping your patients lose weight, you have to talk to them at actually every visit about their progress, and find something to encourage them and coach them,” he said.He acknowledged that many doctors tend to be not optimistic.“Part of this is that there's this common belief, and doctors are burdened by it, too, that overweight people are weak-willed and just don’t have any willpower and are selfindulgent and all that business,” he said. “If you think that way, you’re not going to spend time having a productive conversation.”1. Without their doct ors’ constant coaching, there is little chance of their succeeding in losing weight.D. Most of them have just given up their hope of becoming less heavy.4. This is an international register of properties that are recognized as having outstanding cultural or natural values of international significance. Kakadu is the largest national park in Australia and is the second largest national park in the world. Kakaduis a biological wonderland, which is almost 8,000 square miles. The wildlife in Kakadu National Park includes over 280 kinds of birds, 60 kinds of native mammals, 55 kinds of freshwater fish, thousands of insects, and many reptiles, the most famous of which is the salt-water crocodile. All life in the park depends on water.Kakadu is not only home to the wildlife but the area is also famous for the longest continuous human culture that exists in the world. Aborigines have been living in this area for at least 40,000 years. The descendants(后裔) of these First Australians still live in Kakadu today. Kakadu contains one of the longest continuous records of rock art in the world, with around 5,000 paintings, with rock sites dating back 25,000 years. More than 1,000 sites have been recorded. Kakadu has been given double World Heritage status by the United Nations. It is one of only 17 of the 469 World heritage Areas listed for both natural and cultural values. It is Australia’s largest national park, but it isn’t just the size that surprises visitors—it is the sense of something very old and grand. Creation of the 500 km escarpment (悬崖) began 2,000 million years ago. Today those gorges are filled with rainforests, washed by waterfalls.Kakadu is one of the world’s special places. It is hard to pick the ideal time to visit Kakadu. In the wet season large areas of the park are closed to the public. It would not be possible to enter or exit from the park through the Kakadu Highway. Most of the people there agree that the best time to visit is at the end of the dry season. Some areas of Kakadu have restricted visiting times, and some are not open to the general public. Over 230 000 tourists visit Kakadu National Park every year. As you enter Kakadu National Park, you will be required to buy a permit. Part of this money is paid to the Traditional Owners of the land and the rest is given to the repairs of the park.6. To show the value of the park.7. Kakadu is given double World Heritage status by the United Nations because of _____.A. the descendants of these First Australians still in Kakadu todayB. the particular environment and the unusual rock artC. the longest continuous human culture that exists in the worldD. Aborigines living in this area for at least 40,000 years8. The followings are mentioned in the passage except _____.A. living things in KakaduB. the escarpment and the gorgesC. the history of the parkD. the weather of the area9. What does the author advise visitors to do when they go to Kakadu?A. To get more information about the special place.B. To make a better choice between the wet and dry season.C. Not to enter the national park without permission.D. Not to go there through the Kakadu Highway.C(London)—If it really is what’s on the inside that counts, then a lot of thin people might be in trouble. Some doctors now think that the internal fat surrounding important organs like the heart or liver could be as dangerous as the external fat which can be noticed more easily.“Being thin doesn’t surely mean you are not fat,” said Dr Jimmy Bell at Imperial College. Since 1994, Bell and his team have scanned nearly 800 people with MRI machines to create “fat maps” showing where people store fat.According to the result, people who keep their weight through diet rather than exercise are likely to have major deposits of internal fat, even if they are slim.Even people with normal Body Mass Index scores can have surprising levels of fat deposits inside. Of the women, as many as 45 percent of those with normal BMI scores (20 to 25) actually had too high levels of internal fat. Among men, the percentage was nearly 60 percent.According to Bell, people who are fat on the inside are actually on the edge of being fat. They eat too many fatty and sugary foods, but they are not eating enough to be fat. Scientists believe we naturallystore fat around the belly first, but at some point, the body may start storing it elsewhere.Doctors are unsure about the exact dangers of internal fat, but some think it has something to do with heart disease and diabetes. They want to prove that internal fat damages the body’s communication systems. The good news is that internal fat can be easily burned off through exercise or even by improving your diet. “If you want to be healthy, there is no short cut. Exercise has to be an important part of your lifestyle,” Bell said.11. What is this piece of news mainly about?A. Thin people may be fat inside.B. Internal fat is of no importance.C. Internal fat leads to many diseases.D. Thin people also have troubles.12. Doctors have found _____.A. the exact dangers of internal fatB. internal fat is the cause of heart disease and diabetesC. being slim is not dangerous at allD. being slim doesn’t mean you are not fat inside13. According to the passage, which of the following is WRONG?A. Exercise can help to reduce the internal fat.B. People can get rid of internal fat by improving diet.C. Men are more likely to have too much internal fat.D. People with heart disease all have internal fat.14. From the last paragraph, we can find that _____.A. whether internal fat can lead to disease has been provedB. exercise plays in important role in people’s life for keeping healthyC. thin people usually have internal fat even if they are slimD. it is easier to burn off internal fat than external fat15. The underlined part in the last paragraph means _____.A. a long roadB. an easy wayC. a clear differenceD. a short distanceDFor years, there has been a bias(偏见)against science among clinical psychologists. In a two-year analysis to be published in November in Perspectives on Psychological Science, psychologists led by Timothy B. Baker of the University of Wisconsin charge that manyclinical psychologists fail to “provide the treatments for which there is the strongest evidence of effectiveness” and “give more weight to thei r personal experiences than to science.” As a result, patients have no guarantee that their “treatment will be informed by …science.” Walter Mischel of Columbia University is even crueler in his judgment. “The disconnect between what clinical psychologists do and what science has discovered is an extreme embarrassment,” he told me, and “there is a widening gap between clinical practice and science.”The “widening” reflects the great progress that psychological research has made in identifying the most effective treatments. Thanks to strict clinical trials, we now know that teaching patients to think about their thoughts in new, healthier ways and to act on those new ways of thinking are effective against depression, panic disorder and other problems, with multiple trials showing that these treatments—the tools of psychology—bring more lasting benefits than drugs. You wouldn’t know this if you sought help from a typicalclinical psychologist. Although many treatments are effective, relatively few psychologists learn or practice them. Why in the world not? For one thing, says Baker, clinical psychologists are “very doubtful about the role of science” and “lack solid science training”. Also, one third of patients get better no matter what treatment (if any) they have, “and psychologists rememberthese successes, believing, wrongly, that they are the result of the treatment.”When faced with evidence that treatments they offer are not supported by science, clinical psychologists argue that they know better than some study that works. A 2008 study of 591 psychologists in private practice found that they rely more on their own and colleagues’ experience than on science when deciding how to treat a patient. If they keep on this path as insurance companies demand evidence-based medicine, warns Mischel, psychology will “discredit itself.”16. Many clinical psychologists fail to provide the most effective treatments because _____.A. they are unfamiliar with their patientsB. they believe in science and evidenceC. they depend on their colleagues’ helpD. they rely on their personal experiences17. The widening gap between clinical practice and science is due to _____.A. the cruel judgment by Walter MischelB. the fact that most patients get better after being treatedC. the great progress that has been made in psychological researchD. the fact that patients prefer to take drugs rather than have other treatments18. How do clinical psychologists respond when charged thattheir treatments are not supported by science?A. They feel embarrassed.B. They try to defend themselves.C. They are disappointed.D. They doubt their treatments.19. In Mischel’s opinion, psychology will ______.A. destroy its own reputation if no improvement is madeB. develop faster with the support of insurance companiesC. work together with insurance companies to provide better treatmentD. become more reliable if insurance companies won’t demand evidence-based medicine20. What is the purpose of this passage?A. To show the writer’s disapproval of clinical psychologists.B. To inform the readers of the risks of psychological treatments.C. To explain the effectiveness of treatments by clinical psychologists.D. To introduce the latest progress of medical treatment in clinical psychology.参考答案1—5 BAABC 6—10 DBCAB11—15 ADDBB 16—20 DCBAA。

Plants can’t communicate by moving or making sounds, as m ost animals do. Instead, plants produce volatile compounds, c hemicals that easily change from a liquid to a gas. A flower’s sweet smell, for example, comes from volatile compounds tha t the plant produces to attract insects such as bugs and bees. Plants can also detect volatile compounds produced by other plants. A tree under attack by hungry insects, for instance, ma y give off volatile compounds that let other trees know about t he attack. In response, the other trees may send off chemical s to keep the bugs away—or even chemicals that attract the bugs’ natural enemies. Now scientists have created a quick way to understand what plants are saying: a chemical sensor(传感器) called an electronic nose. The“e-nose” can tell compounds that crop plants make when they’re attacked. Scientists say the e-nose could help quickly detect whether plants are being eaten by insects. But today the only way to detect such insects is tovisually inspect individual plants. This is a challenging task fo r managers of greenhouses, enclosed gardens that can hous e thousands of plants. The research team worked with an e-nose that recognizes volatile compounds. Inside the device, 1 3 sensors chemically react with volatile compounds. Based on these interactions, the e-nose gives off electronic signals that the scientists analyze usi ng computer software. To test the nose, the team presented it with healthy leaves fro m cucumber, pepper and tomato plants, all common greenho use crops. Then the scientists collected samples of air around damaged leaves from each type of crop. These plants had be en damaged by insects, or by scientists who made holes in th e leaves with a hole punch(打孔器).The e-nose, it turns out, could identify healthy cucumber, peper and tomato plants based on the volatile compounds they produce. It could also identify tomato leaves that had been damaged. But even more impressive, the device could tell which type of damage—by insects or with a hole punch—had been done to the tomato leaves. With some fine-tuning, a device like the e-nose could one day be used in greenhouses to quickly spot h armful bugs, the researchers say. A device like this could also be used to identify fruits that are perfectly ripe and ready to pi ck and eat, says Natalia Dudareva, a biochemist at Purdue U niversity in West Lafayette, Ind. who studies smells of flowers and plants. Hopefully, scientists believe, the device could bring large benefits to greenhouse managers in the near future.1. We learn from the text that plants communicate with each o ther by .A. making some soundsB. waving their leavesC. producing some chemicalsD. sending out electronic signals2. What did the scientists do to find out if the e-nose worked?A. They presented it with all common crops.B. They fixed 13 sensors inside the device.C. They collected different damaged leaves.D. They made tests on damaged and healthy leaves.3. According to the writer, the most amazing thing about the e -nose is that it can .A. pick out ripe fruitsB. spot the insects quicklyC. distinguish different damages to the leavesD. recognize unhealthy tomato leaves4. We can infer from the last paragraph that the e-nose .A. is unable to tell the smell of flowersB. is not yet used in greenhousesC. is designed by scientists at PurdueD. is helpful in killing har mful insects【参考答案】1—4、CDCB阅读理解。

How many hours will a new volunteer work at least for the shelter?A. 14B. 32C. 48D. 24(B)During my visit to my parents, I decided to explore their attic (阁楼). They have lived in their home in the mountains since 1953, so investigating the attic was a trip down memory lane for me.I climbed the unstable ladder to the dusty, cold third floor. I looked around and noticed a very old basket in the comer, in which I found letters piled high, faded and dirty-untouched there. As I opened each letter, I discovered a new and previously unrevealed page of my parents' lives. My father served in the Army. He wrote about his daily experiences with civilians, German POWs, baths and more. I was drawn to these letters. Each of my mother's letters was sealed with her 1944 lipstick kiss. Daddy wrote that he sealed his return letters by rekissing her lipstick kiss. Oh, how they missed each other!I finished reading six months of the letters and discovered there were at least eleven months missing. Where could they be?Just six weeks after my visit, Daddy became very ill and was hospitalized. He was scheduled for kidney dialysis (肾透析)when I decided to fly to visit him. We discussed the letters. He told me how much receiving those lipstick-kissed letters had meant to him when he had been so far from home. As I left, the thought raced through my mind that tomorrow was Valentine's Day. But I quicklydismissed this thought. My father wasn’t in any kind of shape to shop for a valentine. My parents had been married for fifty-six years. My mother would understand that her valentine would just have to be skipped this year.Later that evening. Mother and I revisited the attic in search of the lost letters. Toward the bottom, we discovered an unmarked gold cardboard box. Yes! Here were the long-lost letters! I began looking through them. Lying separate, on top of the letters was the valentine card my father had sent Mother in 1944!The next day, Mother and I visited Daddy in the hospital. I joked with him, saying softly, “Today is Valentine's Day, and I know you have been a little busy lately, but I’ve got something you covered.” I handed him the card. He carefully opened the card, and when he recognize d it, his eyes filled with tears. There was nothing lacking that Valentine's Day after all. My father, in a voice shaking with emotion, read the loving message he’d sent to my mother fifty-six years earlier. And this time, he could read it to her in person.4. What information do we get from the passage?A. The Valentine’s card to Mum sent by my father in 1944 was a real treasure to them.B. I revisited the attic, hoping to find some gold boxes.C. My father’s state of health was nothing serious six weeks after my first visit.D. My father had been in the army for just one year.5. The underlined word “dismissed” in Paragraph 5 is closest in meaning to_____.A. sent awayB. laid offC. turned downD. gave up6. From the last paragraph, we can infer that _____.A. my father became totally well after he got the lost lettersB. my father was excited to read the loving message to my mom personallyC. my mother was fifty-six years old when she got the cardD. my father and m other had never sent Valentine’s cards to each other before7. The letters in this passage are the symbol of ____.A. kissB. faithC. loveD. promise(C)Have you ever noticed what happens to an idea once you express it? Just talking about it or writing it down causes you to make it clear in your own mind. How can you use this to increase your brain power? Start writing.By putting thoughts into words, you are telling yourself the logic (逻辑) behind what you think, feel, or only partly understand. Often, explaining a thought is the process of understanding. In other words, you increase your brain power by exercising your “explain power.”Try this experiment. Explain how you’ll increase your brain power, even if you have no idea right now. Just start with anything, and create an explanation. For example, start with “I’ll learn chess,” or “I’ll read an article on the mind every week.” Explain how that will help. You’ll be surprised how often this be comes a workable plan, and if you actually do this, you’ll have a better understanding of your brain from now.Another benefit of writing is that it helps you remember. Many, if not most, highly productive people are always taking notes. You can try keeping it all in your head, but if you keep a journal of your ideas the next time you’re working on a big project, you’ll probably have more success.Want to understand a topic? Write a book about it. That’s an extreme example, but if you are learning something new, write a letter to a friend about it, and you will understand it better. Want to invent something? Write an explanation of the problem, why you want to solve it, and why it is worth solving, and you’re half-way there.Writers don’t always write because they clearly understand something beforehand. Often, they write about something because they want to understand it. You can do the same. Writing will help bring you to an understanding. Give it a try.8. What would be the best title for the text?A. A Way on How to Write.B. Increase Your Brain Power through Writing.C. How to Start Your Writing.D. Brain Power Helps Improve Your Writing.9. According to the text, writing can help you a lot in the following ways EXCEPT _____.A. the increase of your brain powerB. the ability to rememberC. the development of your interest in studyD. the better understanding of a topic10. The underlined sentence “you’re half-way there” in the fifth paragr aph impliesthat ______.A. you are already successfulB. you still need to work hardC. writing can help you walk half wayD. You have been on the way to success11. What’s the main purpose of the writer writing the text?A. To advise readers to start their writing.B. To explain the importance of writing.C. To persuade readers to become writers.D. To increase readers’ brain power.(D)Free Wi-Fi has become very important to us: many stores and shopping malls offer it, restaurants use it to attract customers, and for libraries and coffee shops it is a must-have service.Even when people are traveling, they scan for free Wi-Fi. When selecting or rating a hotel, six in ten travelers believe that unlimited Wi-Fi is the most important factor.“Today, people will never forget to pack their smart phones, tablets and laptops into the suitcase,” said the Daily Mail. “We rely on free Wi-Fi heavily when traveling—especially when it comes to checking social media, checking out travel tips, and accessing websites.”However, despite the opportunities that free Wi-Fi gives us, “our over-reliance on technology has come at a price, with travelers feeling unable to escape social media”, said Lonely Planet, the world’s largest travel guide brand.Anita Isalska, Lonely Planet editor and tech addict, was forced to unplug when in an isolated (隔间的) camp in Greenland recently. “Adjusting to this slower pace, I began to realize t hat: social media had changed into a habit,” she wrote. “I had believed I was capturing(捕捉) moments, but in reality my busy fingers were preventing me enjoying travel’s deepest pleasures. How fully can you appreciate a huge glacier or wild flowers when your brain is selecting the right photo filter (滤镜) or the perfect six seconds to take photos”In September, Lonely Planet released 10 predictions for the future of global travel. One of them was that true escapes will be highly valued in future, so remote hotels will start to make their lack of the Internet into an appealing feature. Would you like to have an unplugged holiday12 . According to the passage, people nowadays tend to do the following EXCEPT .A. getting out of a library that has no access to the InternetB. thinking ill of a hotel without Wi-FiC. making travel plans via the InternetD. enjoying travelling better without carrying any Hi-Tech equipment13 . (2013·南昌市二模,C)“Plants were expected to get larger with increased carbon dioxide in atmosphere, but changes in temperature, humidity and nutrient availability seem to trumped the benefits of increased carbon dioxide,” said researchers from the National University of Singapore.45 percent of the species studied now reach smaller adult sizes than they did in the past. The researchers pointed out that warmer temperatures and changing habitats, caused by climate change, are possible reasons for shrinking creatures.“We do not yet know the mechanisms involved, or why some organism are getting smaller while others are unaffected,”the researchers said. “Until we understand more, we could be riskin g negative consequences that we can't yet quantify.”The change was big in coldblooded animals. Only two decades of warmer temperatures were enough to make reptiles smaller. An increase of 1 degree centigrade caused nearly a 10 percent increase in metabolism (新陈代谢). Greater use of energy resulted in tiny tortoises and little lizards. Fish are smaller now too. Though overfishing has played a part in reducing numbers, experiments show that warmer temperatures also stop fish growth. There is a recent report on warmer temperatures' negative effects on plankton, the base of the marine ecosystem.Warmblooded animals weren't immune from the size change caused by climate change. Many birds are now smaller. Mammals have been miniaturized too. Soay sheep are thinner. Red deer are weaker. And polar bears are smaller, compared with historical records. This is not the first time this has happened in Earth's history. 55 million years ago, a warming event similar to the current climate change caused bees, spiders and ants to shrink by 50 to 75 percent over several thousand years. That event happened over a long time than the current climate change. The speed of modern climate change could mean organisms may not respond or adapt quickly enough, especially those with long generation times. So, it is likely that more negative influences of climate change will be shown in future.文章大意:本文是一篇科普说明文。

It's 5:00 in the morning when the alarm (闹钟) rings in my ears. I roll out of bed and walk blindly through the dark into the bathroom. I turn on the light and put on my glasses. The house is still as I walk downstairs while my husband and three kids sleep peacefully. Usually I go for a long run, but today I choose my favorite exercise DVD, Insanity. Sweat pours down my face and into my eyes. My heart races as I force my body to finish each movement. As I near the end of the exercise, I feel extremely tired, but a smile is on my face. It's not a smile because the DVD is over, but a smile of success from pushing my body to its extreme limit. Some people enjoy shopping, smoking, food, work, or even chocolate. But I need exercise to get through each day. Some shake heads when they see me run through the town. Others get hurt when I refuse to try just one bite of their grandmother's chocolate cake. They raise their eyebrows, surprised by my “no thank you,” or by my choice to have a salad. Over the years, I have learned it's ok ay to just say “no”. I shouldn't feel sorry for refusing food that I don't want to eat.So what drives me to roll out of bed at 5:00 a.m.?What gives me the reason to just say no to ice cream? Commitment. A commitment to change my life with a way that reduc es daily anxiety, increases selfconfidence and energy, extends life and above all improves my body shape. This is the point where a smile appears on my face as I look at myself in the mirror or try on my favorite pair of jeans that now fit just right. It's through commitment and sweat that I can make a difference within myself inside and out.一个每天按时起床锻炼身体的女人,一个有着自己个性与喜好的女人,为了保持自己的体型,降低压力,提高自信,坚持着这种日复一日的锻炼,让自己每天都挂着笑容面对生活。

As a young boy, I sometimes traveled the country roads with my dad. He was a rural mail carrier, and on Saturdays he wou ld ask me to go with him. Driving through the countryside was always an adventure: There were animals to see, people to vi sit, and chocolate cookies if you knew where to stop, and Dad did.In the spring, Dad delivered boxes full of baby chickens, and when I was a boy it was such fun to stick your fingers through one of the holes of the boxes and let the baby birds peck on y our fingers. On Dad's final day of work, it took him well into the evening to complete his rounds because at least one member from each family was waiting at their mailboxes to thank him for his frien dship and his years of service.“Two hundred and nineteen ma ilboxes on my route,” he used to say, “and a story at every o ne.” One lady had no mailbox, so Dad took the mail in to her e very day because she was nearly blind. Once inside, he read her mail and helped her pay her bills.Mailboxes were sometimes used for things other than mail. One note left in a mailbox read, “Nat, take these eggs to Marian ; she's baking a cake and doesn't have any eggs.” Mailboxes might be buried in the snow, or broken, or lying on the ground , but the mail was always delivered. On cold days Dad might fi nd one of his customers waiting for him with a cup of hot choc olate. A young girl wrote letters but had no stamps, so she left a few buttons on the envelope in the mailbox; Dad paid for th e stamps. One businessman used to leave large amounts of c ash in his mailbox for Dad to take to the bank. Once, the amo unt came to $32,000.A dozen years ago, when I traveled back to my hometown on the sad occasion of Dad's death, the mailboxes along the way reminded me of some of his stories. I thought I knew them all , but that wasn't the case.As I drove home, I noticed two lamp poles, one on each side of the street. When my dad was around, those poles supporte d wooden boxes about four feet off the ground. One box was painted green, and the other was red, and each had a long na rrow hole at the top with white lettering: SANTA CLAUS, NOR TH POLE. For years children had dropped letters to Santa thr ough those holes.I made a turn at the corner and drove past the post office and across the railroad tracks to our house. Mom and I were sitting at the kitchen table when I heard footsteps. There, at the do or, stood Frank Townsend, Dad's postmaster and great friend for many years. So we all sat down at the table and began to t ell stories. At one point Frank looked at me with tears in his eyes. “What are we going to do about the letters this Christmas?”he aske d.“The letters?”“I guess you never knew.”“Knew what?”“Remember, when you were a kid and you used to put your le tters to Santa in those green and red boxes on Main Street? It was your dad who answered all those letters every year.”I just sat there with tears in my eyes. It wasn't hard for me to i magine Dad sitting at the old oak table in our basement readi ng those letters and answering each one. I have since spoken with several of the people who received Christmas letters dur ing their childhood, and they told me how amazed they were t hat Santa had known so much about their homes and families .For me, just knowing that story about my father was the gift of a lifetime.1. It can be inferred from the passage that the writer regarded his travels with Dad as ________.A. great chances to help other peopleB. happy occasions to play with baby chickensC. exciting experiences with a lot of funD. good opportunities to enjoy chocolate cookies2. The writer provides the detail about the businessman to sh ow that ________.A. Dad had a strong sense of dutyB. Dad was an honest a nd reliable manC. Dad had a strong sense of honorD. Dad was a kind and generous man3. According to the passage, which of the following impressed the writer most?A. Dad read letters for a blind lady for years.B. Top lists are lecturing people on everything from “100 places to visit” to “100 books to read”. Aren't you just tired of being told what to do with your time? Now you have a list to end all lists!Take a look at the following two examples from the list of “101 things not to do”:Swim with Dolphins(海豚)?Swimming with dolphins is one of the world's most profitable tourist activities. However, not every dolphin will welcome having their busy, tiring day interrupted by tourists screaming and pushing around them in the water. Worse yet, when dolphins get too near to the boats loaded with tourists, they could get caught up in ropes and killed by propellers(螺旋桨).Here's a little secret. Dolphins look like smiling at you, but actually they're just opening their mouths. Go to See the Mona Lisa? There must be something about the mysterious(神秘的) smile. The 6 million people who visit the lady in the Louvre every year can't all be wrong, after all. But they can be quite annoying, standing in front of you; holding up their cameras to prevent you from seeing anything. In fact, it is hard for you to see the painting clearly because you have to stay away from it for security reasons. After queuing for hours, many tourists can remain in front of the painting only for 15 seconds at most. If the mysterious lady in the picture knew her fate, she wouldn't just be smiling, she'd be laughing. So, still long to see the Mona Lisa? If you want to find out more about the list, read 101 Things NOT to Do Before You Die.1. According to the passage, swimming with dolphins ________.A. is the world's most popular tourist activityB. gives fun to both tourists and dolphinsC. will make tourists busy and tiredD. can cause danger to dolphins2. What does the author think about going to see Mona Lisa?A. It is wrong to go and see the mysterious smile.B. It is not as satisfying as expected.C. Fifteen seconds in front of the painting is enough.D. Queuing for hours is worthwhile.3. The list of “101 things not to do” is made most probably because its author ________.A. thinks it boring to do the things suggested by other listsB. believes other lists are not humorous enoughC. intends to persuade people to read more listsD .wants to provide a list different from other lists 4. What is the main purpose of the passage? A. To advertise a book. B. To introduce a website.C. To comment on popular lists.D. To recommend tourist activities.【要点综述】该篇短文前面否定“100 lists to do”的种种弊端,最后推出自己的101 Things NOT to Do Before You Die ,很明显是一则常见的广告。

入舵市安恙阳光实验学校江西2017高考英语阅读理解一轮基础演练(二)(2017高考训练)阅读理解I sat with a friend a few weeks ago as she scrolled through photos of her college freshman daughter on her phone. She asked me, “Doesn't she look happy? She looks OK, right?” Her daughter had recently had a difficult time, which was now over, but her mother — like all mothers would — still worried, sometimes, that something might be wrong. For generations of parents, sending children off to college meant knowing little to nothing about how their children were doing. Other than the occasional letter or call from a dorm room phone, children who had left home were mostly unseen and heard from infrequently. College kids could get into all kinds of trouble and their parents would know nothing about it until Christmas vacation or summer break. Now, of course, that's not at all how it is. Parents of college students can spend hour upon hour examining photos on Instagram or Facebook of their children. They look for hints of sadness in their eyes, the way their clothes fit, whether they're really smiling or just sort of smiling. However, I don't think it's necessary. College is a time of intense personal growth. Pain is a necessary lesson for the emotional leap from childhood to adulthood. Mothers shouldn't be able to see photos in real time that capture their children when they're at their worst — whether because of too much alcohol or too little happiness. The blessing of social media is the ability to connect at any time with your child, no matter where he or she may be in the world. Facebook, Instagram and the rest are keeping our helicopters flying long after they should have landed. Maybe it would be better for all of us to be a little less aware of the state of our children's lives once they leave home. Better for the children, and certainly better for the parents.1.That friend scrolled through photos on her phone most probably because she ________.A.was bored and wanted to kill the timeB.wanted to make sure her daughter was alrightC.wanted to help her daughter through the difficultyD.was sure something was wrong with her daughter2.What does Paragraph 2 tell us about parents of college students in the past?A.They were often worried about their children.B.They usually let their children do whatever they liked.C.They were usually too busy to care about their children.D.They lacked means of knowing about their children's situation.3.What does the writer think of children's experiencing pain at college?A.It is helpless.B.It is necessary.C.It is nonsense.D.It should be prevented.4.The passage is written to show that ________. A.children don't really have freedom at college B.social media make our life much easier than before C.today's parents contact their children more frequentlyD.parents shouldn't follow their children at college through social media语篇解读:作者认为父母没必要通过社交工具实时掌握他们的孩子在大学的情况。

In the mid1950s,I was a somewhat bored earlyado lescent male student who believed that doing_any_more_than_necessary_was_wasted_effort.One day, this approach threw me into embarrassment. In Mrs.Totten's eighthgrade math class at Central Avenue School in Anderson,Indiana,we were learning to add and subtract decimals (小数).Our teacher typically assigned daily homework, which would be recited in class the following day.On most days, our grades were based on our oral answers to homework questions.Mrs.Totten usually walked up and down the rows of desks requesting answers from student after student in the order the questions had appeared on our homework sheets. She would start either at the front or the back of the classroom and work toward the other end.Since I was seated near the middle of about 35 students,it was easy to figure out which questions I might have to answer. This particular time,I had completed my usual two or three problems according to my calculations. What I failed to expect was that several students were absent, which threw off my estimate. As Mrs.Totten made her way from the beginning of the class,I desperately tried to determine which math problem I would get.I tried to work it out before she got to me,but I had brain freeze and couldn't function. When Mrs.Totten reached my desk, she asked what answer I'd got for problem No.14.“I...I didn't get anything,”I answered, and my face felt warm.“Correct,”she said.It turned out that the correct answer was zero. What did I learn that day?First, always do all your homework.Second,in real life it isn't always what you say but how you say it that matters.Third,I would never make it as a mathematician. If I could choose one school day that taught me the most,it would be that one.1.What does the underlined part in Paragraph 1 indicate?A.It is wise to value one's time.B.It is important to make an effort.C.It is right to stick to one's belief.D.It is enough to do the necessary.2.Usually,Mrs.Totten asked her students to ________.A.recite their homework togetherB.grade their homework themselvesC.answer their homework questions orallyD.check the answers to their homework questions3.The author could work out which questions to answer since the teacher always ________. A.asked questions in a regular wayB.walked up and down when asking questionsC.chose two or three questions for the studentsD.requested her students to finish their usual questions4.The author failed to get the questions he had expected because ________.A.the class didn't begin as usualB.several students didn't come to schoolC.he didn't try hard to make his estimateD.Mrs.Totten didn't start from the back of the class5.Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?A.An Unforgettable Teacher B.A Future MathematicianC.An Effective Approach D.A Valuable Lesson答案:【语篇解读】本文为记叙文。

根据第三段最后一句“On most days, our grades were based on our oral answers to homework questions”可知,大多数时候,老师只要求学生口头回答家庭作业。

3.A 解析:考查推理判断。

根据第四段的内容可知,作者的数学老师总是按照题目顺序和学生的座位顺序提问,很有规律。

故A项正确。

4.B 解析:考查细节理解。

根据第六段第一句“What I failed to expect was that several students were absent, which threw off my estimate”可知,作者没有料到的是有几个学生缺课,没有来学校,所以他没有估计对自己要回答的问题。
