Social media platforms have become an integral part of daily life, allowing individuals to connect with others across the globe. However, this shift in communication has raised concerns about the impact on face-to-face interactions and the potential loss of traditional social skills. One of the most popular social media platforms is Instagram, which is known for its focus on visual content. Users can share photos, videos, and stories, and follow others who share similar interests. While Instagram can be a great way to stay connected with friends and discover new things, it also has its downsides.A recent study found that excessive use of Instagram can lead to feelings of loneliness and depression. The constant comparison with others’ seemingly perfect lives can create a sense of inadequacy. Additionally, the platform’s algorithm can create a filter bubble, where users are only exposed to content that aligns with their existing beliefs and interests, thus limiting their exposure to diverse perspectives.Despite these concerns, many people find Instagram to be a valuable tool for networking and personal growth. This shift is primarily due to the convenience and flexibility it offers to students. Online courses allow individuals to learn at their own pace, from any location, and often at a lower cost compared to traditional in-person classes. However, despite these advantages, online learning also comes with its own set of challenges. One of the main concerns is the potential for reduced social interaction. In traditional classrooms, students have the opportunity to engage with their peers and professors, which can enhance their learning experience. Online students, on the other hand, may feel isolated and disconnected from the academic community. This can lead to a lack of motivation and engagement in the course material.Another challenge is the need for self-discipline. Online courses require students to be self-motivated and organized. Without the structure of a traditional classroom, students must set their own schedules and manage their time effectively. This can be difficult for some individuals, especially thosewho are accustomed to the routine of attending classes on campus.Despite these challenges, many online learners find that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. They appreciate the ability to work around their other commitments, such as full-time jobs or family responsibilities. At twelve she left home and was in a service until at twenty-seven ,she married Thomas Moses ,the tenant of hers. They farmed most of their lives. She had ten children ,of whom five survived;her husband died in 1928.Grandma Moses painted a little as a child and made embroidery pictures as a hobby ,but only changed to oils in old age because her hands had become too stiff to sew and she wanted to keep busy and pass the time. Her pictures were first sold at an exhibition ,and were soon noticed by abusinessman who bought everything she painted. Three of the pictures were shown in the Museum of Modern Art ,and in 1940she had her first exhibition in New York. Between the 1930 ‘ s and her death she produced some 2 ,000 pictures :careful and lively pictures of the country life she had known ,with a wonderful sense of color and form.( )51. I had never beforeand seen a man so tall as he so ugly. I pitied him and went out of my wayto help him with his work and make him feel at home. His students soon let me know that he had no need of my protectiveness. They spoke of his ability to explain a poemin such a manner as to have them shouting with laughter or struggling to keep back their tears ,of his readiness to quote in detail from any poetthey could name.Indeed ,his students made so much of his power of observation that I decided to make a little test and see for myself. My chance came one morning when the students were slowly gathering for nine o ‘clock classes.Upon arriving at the university that day ,I found Wolfe alone in the large room which served all the English composition teachers as an office. He did not say anything when I asked him to come with me out into the hall ,and he only smiled when we reached a classroom door and I told him to enter alone and look around. He stepped in ,remained no more than thirty seconds and then came out. “Tell me what you see. ” I said as I took his place in the room ,leaving him in the hall with his back to the door. Without the least hesitation and without a single error ,he gave the number of seats in the room ,pointed out those which were taken by boys and those occupied by girls ,named the colors each student was wearing ,pointed out the Latin verb written on the blackboard ,spoke of the chalkmarks which the cleaner had failed to wash from the floor ,and pictured in detail the view of Washington Square from the window. As I rejoined Wolfe ,I was speechless with surprise. Heon the contrary ,was wholly calm as he said ,“The worst thing about it is that I ‘ll remember it all. ”( )55. What is the passage mainly discussing?。

阅读理解 3Passage OneWriting is not an easy skill. It is both mental and physical. A person must be able to move the muscles in the hands and fingers to form letters and numbers. Some people are not able to move these muscles easily. Experts say teachers should suspect dysgraphia(书写困难) if they see handwriting that is unusually difficult to understand.Children with dysgraphia often hold their writing tools in an unusual position. They may also place the paper in an odd position for writing. The disorder generally appears when they first learn to write. Children continue to write wrong or misspelled words, even after their teacher has shown them the correct way.Experts say the cause of the disorder is not known. Some people with dysgraphia are able to improve their writing ability. But others are not. As with other disorders, the most important part of treatment is for someone to first identify the problem. There are some simple methods to help these children. For example, schools can give them more time to complete writing activities. Students might be permitted to type their work. They do not have to write by hand. Teachers can also permit students to take exams by speaking the answers instead of writing them.Experts say people with dysgraphia may be able to write well if they work slowly and develop their skills. Technology can help. One way to avoid the problem is to use a computer. Students can use the computer spell checker to help make sure every word is correct.Questions 1 – 5: Choose the best answer from A, B, C and D. Write your answers on the Answer Sheet. 从A, B, C, D 选项中选择一个正确的答案写在答题卷上。

It is called the Segway Human Transporter. The Segway looks like a long stick with two wheels. The stick has handles for a person to hold. The wheels are connected by a platform. The person stands on the platform and holds the handles. The vehicle moves forward or backward when the person moves his body in that direction. The driver turns the handles to go left or right. The Segway is powered by batteries that can be re-charged. It can travel at a speed of nineteen kilometers per hour. It costs less than ten cents a day to operate.Mr. Kamen says the Segway could replace cars in crowded city centers. It is designed to reduce pollution and solve other environmental problems in cities. However, it is not designed to travel on roads. The Segway will be for sale to the public soon. It will cost about three-thousand dollars. Several businesses are testing the vehicle, including the Postal Service and the bookseller Amazon. Some letter carriers will try riding the vehicles to deliver the mail. Amazon workers will use them to find books in their huge storage buildings. Police in two cities also will test the vehicles to see if they can be used for law enforcement. Some technology experts have criticized the Segway vehicle. They say it could be dangerous to ride. It does not protect the rider from bad weather. They say it holds only one person whileother small vehicles can hold three people. They also say people may use the vehicle to avoid physical exercise. However, other experts say the vehicle is interesting and could be used in many ways in the future.Questions 6 – 10: Choose the best answer from A, B, C and D.
