Unit 5【知识梳理】Why don’t you stop daydreaming?为什们不停止做白日梦?(1).Why don’t you....?是一个表示建议时常用的句型,意为“你为什么不...呢?”根据实际表达的需要,也可以将you改成其他人称代词。

相当于Why not…?回答时不用because。

Why don’t we go and tell him our ideas?我们为什们不直接告诉他们我们的看法呢?---Why don’t you come in and enjoy some coffee?进来喝点咖啡吧?---Ok,thanks.好的,谢谢。

(2).stop表示“停止”的意思,其后用动词不定式或V-ing形式作宾语都可以。

但两者意思不同:stop to do 表示“停下来去做某事”,而stop doing表示“停止做某事”。

如果表示“停下来并用另一种方式做同一件事”也用stop to do结构。

*We stopped working at tea-time.我们在午后茶点时间停止了工作。

* Nobody understood him,so he stopped to explain in another way.没有人懂他的意思,所以他停下来用另一种方式来解释了。

Stop 也表示“阻止,禁止”的意思。

此时通常可以同介词from连用。

* You should stop her from telling them.2.I’m too good for TV.我太棒了,不适合在电视业干。

句中too表示“太,过于”,用于修饰形容词,说明程度。

句中介词for表示“对于。

而言”此类句意可以用下列句型结构表达。

(1) sb.is too + adj.+for sth.* I’m too good for the job.我太棒了,做这工作小菜一碟。

(2).sth. is too + adj. + sb.*The job is too easy for me.这工作对我来说太容易了。
