eg. You’d better eat these green tomatoes.你最好别吃这些还没成熟的西红柿。

2.absorb=take in吸收(液体、气体);=understand\get\catch理解,明白;absorbed
全神贯注的,被…深深吸引的be absorbed in (doing) sth.(adj.)
eg. Trees should absorb\take in water.

3.mountains of=a mountain of\seas of:大量的,非常多的;与a lot of\lots of用法
一样,修饰可数和不可数名词

4.damage:名词、动词,“破坏,毁坏”,与destroy (n. destruction)意思相近; do\cause

eg. Rubbish can damage the environment.

B(与A相比,更喜欢B); prefer doing A to doing B=like doing A better than doing B; prefer to do sth.(宁愿做某事); would prefer to do sth. rather than do sth.(宁可做…也不做…); would prefer that从句(should+动词原形)宁愿…eg. I prefer English to science.

15.manner:态度、方式、举止(manners礼貌、礼仪)mannered(形容词,做作的
的,不自然-mannered态度…的,举止…的well-mannered=polite; mild-mannered 态度温和的) It’s good\bad manners to do sth.做…有(无)礼貌
eg. It’s good manners to offer a seat to the elderly.
